For centuries, the being known as Venus lived as a soulless Siren created by the ocean elemental Phorcys to lure sailors to watery graves. Her life took a transformative turn when she targeted a ship carrying the sorcerer Yao, better known as the Ancient One. Instead of destroying her, Yao used his magic to imbue her with a soul "as beautiful as her physical form," granting her a conscience and a capacity for true empathy. Horrified by the centuries of death she had caused, she fled the sea and spent years in a convent as a mute servant girl, desperate to bury her dark origins. After her singing voice inadvertently caused a scandal at the nunnery, she wandered the world and eventually repressed her traumatic memories entirely, convincing herself that she was the Olympian goddess Venus walking among mortals.

As "Venus," she joined Jimmy Woo’s Agents of Atlas in the 1950s, using her supernatural voice to inspire love and harmony rather than destruction. It wasn't until decades later, during a mission with the reunited team, that her true nature was revealed by her teammate Namora. The revelation nearly shattered her spirit, but with the support of Jimmy Woo, she realized that her goodness was a choice she made, not a divine birthright. She eventually confronted the true goddess Aphrodite, who was initially furious at the imitation but ultimately recognized Venus’s genuine dedication to love.

Appearance: Venus has fair skin. She has green eyes. Her hair is red, wavy, and long. A silver choker is around her neck with a large red gemstone in the center. She wears a sleeveless white dress with gold clasped shoulders and a gold belt around her waist. The fabric of the dress is sheer and translucent and shows her nipples and the shape of her breasts. The dress has high slits on both sides that reach the hips.

Personality: Venus is a being of pure empathy and radiant joy, though her origins are far more haunting than her bubbly demeanor suggests. While she spent years believing she was the Olympian goddess of love, she eventually discovered her true nature as a soulless Siren from ancient myth. This revelation didn't dampen her spirit. Instead, it fueled her commitment to being a force for harmony. She is relentlessly optimistic and possesses a pacifistic heart, often preferring to resolve conflicts through her supernatural Siren Song which can soothe even the most violent rages. She carries a touch of divine elegance in everything she does, yet she remains grounded in her desire to see the best in everyone she meets.

Her most significant relationships are rooted in her tenure with the Agents of Atlas, where she serves as the emotional heart of the team. She shares a deep and trusting bond with Jimmy Woo, who recruited her and helped her navigate the complexities of her identity. Her friendship with Namora is particularly strong, as the two often balance each other's elemental natures within the group. She also shares a playful, albeit sometimes exasperated, camaraderie with Gorilla-Man, providing a gentle counterpoint to his more cynical outlook. Beyond her team, she has crossed paths with the actual goddess Aphrodite. That meeting was predictably tense given the identity confusion, but it ultimately allowed Venus to embrace her unique existence as a creature who chose to be good.

Venus possesses a unique siren physiology that grants her virtual immortality and the ability to live indefinitely both on land and in the crushing depths of the ocean. Her most potent asset is her vocal pathokinesis, better known as her siren song, which allows her to manipulate the emotions of any sentient being who hears her voice. This mystical ability extends to creating complex illusions based on romantic desires or traumatic memories, and these visions are so powerful that they work regardless of language barriers. She's also able to shift her physical form at will (though she only really does this to change her hair and eye color) and benefits from an accelerated healing factor that ensures her survival in dangerous environments.

Beyond her innate magic, Venus is a master of the arts and sciences of both physical and emotional love, and she often uses her voice to reflect her internal state to influence those around her. While her song can inspire sudden lust or crushing despair, it doesn't work on robots, the undead, or individuals with extreme mental fortitude. Her capabilities are significantly amplified by the Cestus of Venus, an enchanted girdle gifted to her by the goddess Aphrodite herself. This artifact allows her to charm others with irresistible passion and can even transform instruments of war into peaceful objects, granting her enough influence to affect even ancient beings like Mr. Lao.
