Symmetra is a gifted Vishkar architech from Hyderabad who uses hard light to create structures, weapons, and infrastructure with extraordinary precision. After missions in Rio de Janeiro and Suravasa exposed the harm caused by Vishkar’s methods, her faith in the corporation began to fracture even as she continued serving it. Satya Vaswani was born into extreme poverty in Hyderabad and was identified at a young age as one of the rare individuals capable of becoming an architech, a specialist able to manipulate hard light into physical structures. Vishkar Corporation removed her from her previous life and placed her in its academy, where she became one of its most gifted students. Under the name Symmetra, she helped shape Utopaea and was eventually entrusted with missions far beyond ordinary construction work, acting covertly to advance Vishkar’s interests wherever the corporation sought influence. One such mission took her to Rio de Janeiro, where she was ordered to secure a redevelopment contract. Although Satya believed the competition had been legitimate, Vishkar destroyed the rival developer’s offices after her investigation, causing civilian casualties and leaving her increasingly troubled by the methods used in the name of progress.

Her doubts deepened after Vishkar construction in Suravasa caused a tremor that damaged a sacred statue of Aurora. Sent to repair the damage and contain the resulting dispute, Satya stayed among the Shambali at Zenyatta’s invitation and learned about Aurora, the Iris, and the significance the damaged statue held for the local omnics. Rather than simply recreating what had been destroyed, she combined fragments of the original statue with hard light and constructed something new that preserved its imperfections. The experience challenged her long-held belief that perfection required complete control and strengthened her growing suspicion that Vishkar’s vision of an ordered society could itself be deeply flawed. She nevertheless remains one of Vishkar’s foremost architechs, caught between loyalty to the institution that gave her a future and mounting uncertainty about what it does with her abilities.

Appearance: Symmetra has deep brown skin and a tall, slender, curvaceous build with a narrow waist, rounded hips, long legs, and a refined athletic frame. Her eyes are dark brown beneath a translucent cyan visor that wraps across the upper face in a sharply angular shape, bordered by white structural pieces at the temples. Her hair is glossy black, extremely long, and worn straight down her back with a smooth central part and several shorter strands framing the forehead. A white and gold headpiece crowns the sides of her head with two tall upward-pointing prongs, while a circular gold ornament containing a glowing cyan center rests at the middle of her forehead. Long cyan drop earrings hang beside her neck. A rigid gold neckpiece encircles her throat and spreads into geometric segments across the upper chest. Her outfit combines a fitted white short-sleeved upper garment with dark gray side panels and a brilliant cyan-blue asymmetrical fabric panel crossing diagonally over the torso. The blue fabric is patterned with subtle geometric texture and edged in gold, with additional gold ornamental markings sweeping across the chest and down the front.

Her left arm is fully mechanical, built from white armor, dark gray joints, gold accents, and narrow cyan illuminated details, ending in an articulated metallic hand with segmented fingers. Several thick gold rings encircle the wrist. Her right arm remains natural and largely uncovered below the short sleeve, with gold bracelets and delicate hand jewelry around the wrist and fingers. A structured metallic belt wraps around her waist in white, pale blue, and gold sections, while fitted dark gray leggings cover her hips and legs beneath the long blue front panel. Pale gray armored sections reinforce the outer hips and knees, decorated with gold insets and cyan details. Her lower legs are enclosed in sleek dark gray coverings that taper into white high-heeled boots with gold edging, small cyan accents, sharply sculpted ankle pieces, and narrow elevated heels.

Personality: Satya is intensely disciplined, precise, intelligent, and comforted by structure. She dislikes disorder and unpredictability, but her desire for control is rooted more in creating understandable systems than in dominating others. Her experiences outside Vishkar have made her increasingly willing to reconsider ideas she once treated as absolute, and she possesses a strong capacity for empathy despite often struggling with unfamiliar social situations. Zenyatta became particularly important during her time in Suravasa, treating her without hostility and helping her understand why imperfection, memory, and personal meaning could matter more than simply restoring something to an idealized state.

Niran Pruksamanee was Satya’s roommate at Vishkar’s academy and became her closest friend there despite their radically different temperaments. Niran rejected Vishkar’s rigid pursuit of artificial perfection while Satya found security in precisely that structure, causing frequent disagreements without destroying their mutual respect or affection. His eventual departure from Vishkar placed their lives on very different paths, while Satya continued serving the corporation. Her relationship with Vishkar itself has become increasingly conflicted: the organization educated her, provided stability when she had little else, and gave purpose to her extraordinary talent, yet its manipulation, secrecy, and willingness to harm civilians have steadily undermined her faith in its claim that order automatically produces a better world.

Symmetra wields a Photon Projector, a hard-light weapon capable of producing a sustained short-range beam or launching concentrated explosive energy orbs. Her mastery of hard-light engineering also allows her to deploy Sentry Turrets, compact constructs that attack and impede enemies, and a Teleporter network that creates paired gateways for nearly instantaneous movement between two locations.

Her largest combat construct is the Photon Barrier, an enormous hard-light wall capable of dividing an entire battlefield and absorbing incoming attacks. Beyond combat, Satya is an exceptionally accomplished architech capable of weaving hard light into complex architecture, infrastructure, sculptures, and other stable physical constructs through precise movements derived from traditional dance.
