Shin, the East Supreme Kai of Universe 7, is the overseer of the eastern quadrant of both the living realm and the Other World. Following the deaths of his fellow Supreme Kais, Shin assumed the mantle of the Supreme Kai in function and title, becoming the last active divine guardian of his universe’s cosmic balance.
Before rising to this position, Shin served as an apprentice under the Grand Supreme Kai, living in harmony on the Sacred World of the Kai alongside the other Supreme Kais. This era of peace was shattered by the emergence of the malevolent wizard Bibidi, who created Majin Buu—an uncontrollable magical creature whose sole purpose was destruction. One by one, the Supreme Kais were hunted down and killed by Buu. The North and West Supreme Kais fell first, leaving only Shin and the Grand Supreme Kai.
When Majin Buu absorbed the powerful South Supreme Kai, he transformed into a larger, more intelligent but still violent version of himself—later referred to by the Old Kai as “Huge Buu,” and more commonly known as Super Buu. As this new incarnation pursued Shin, the Grand Supreme Kai intervened, sacrificing himself in the process. Absorbed by Buu, the Grand Supreme Kai's benevolent nature softened Buu's evil instincts, resulting in the transformation into the rotund, childlike Majin Buu familiar to most.
Shin was spared by this more docile Buu and seized the opportunity to strike back. With Buu sealed away in a magical cocoon by Bibidi, Shin ambushed the unsuspecting wizard and destroyed him, preventing the immediate resurrection of the monster. Understanding the lingering danger, Shin transported the sealed Majin Buu to Earth, burying the orb deep beneath its surface to keep it hidden and out of reach.
With the universe’s hierarchy shaken, Shin returned to the Sacred World of the Kai, now with Kibito as his trusted attendant and bodyguard. Over time, Shin was recognized as the sole remaining Supreme Kai, fulfilling his duties alone and maintaining the divine balance once upheld by a council of five.
Though typically reclusive, Shin would eventually involve himself in mortal affairs once more—first during the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament, and later throughout the battle against Babidi and Majin Buu’s reawakening. Though his power was limited compared to the universe's strongest mortals, Shin provided vital knowledge, strategy, and cosmic insight, aiding the defenders of Earth during one of the most perilous conflicts in history.
After Majin Buu’s final defeat at the hands of Goku, Shin resumed his quiet watch over Universe 7 from the Sacred World of the Kai, ever vigilant for threats that might once again disturb the fragile balance of existence.
Appearance: Shin is short, purple-skinned with a white mohawk and dressed in a blue coat with red lining, an orange waist cloak, a pale teal long-sleeved shirt with matching pants and red boots. He also wears a pair of yellow Potara earrings.
Personality: When he is first introduced, he squints his eyes at Goku and smiles in a manner that makes him seem mysterious and powerful. Just as what a supreme leader of the universe should be, he is calm, wise, humble and thinks rationally at critical moments. Later on, his constant surprise at the Saiyans power and his dependence on others to protect the universe against Majin Buu make him seem more fearful and innocent, most likely due to his previous inability to combat those kinds of powerful beings himself.
Although Shin knows a good amount of information about the universe, he is rather ignorant of some important things known by other Kais and Gods of Destruction, due to his lack of full training since the elimination of the other Supreme Kais; for example, he was completely unaware of Zeno and who he was, as in the Tournament of Destroyers, he asked his ancestor who he was, for which he was slapped on the head and informed. Adding onto this, he was unaware of Ultra Instinct, while many of the other Gods of Destruction and Supreme Kais were familiar with the ability. Yet another example was his obliviousness about the fusing abilities of the Potara, which led to him fusing with Kibito before realizing the fusion would be permanent.
Additionally, Shin shows ignorance of much of information on the rest of the universe. He was completely unaware of the Dragon Balls, with which Old Kai was much more familiar. He did not know about Super Saiyans nor much of the events that had transpired throughout the series and was quite shocked to see Goku, Vegeta and Gohan overpower, and dispose of the same minions of Babidi he himself had greatly feared. In addition, despite prioritizing the safety of the universe, he had remained quite insensitive to the Saiyans' own ambitions and lust for battle and was surprised when Vegeta momentarily fell in with Babidi to fight Goku and did not care about the threat of Majin Buu at all. He was furthermore shocked when Goku had threatened to obliterate him on the spot for getting in the way of his and Vegeta's showdown, but he had eventually shared a mutual apology with Goku.
Generally, Shin believes that Supreme Kais must uphold a moral standard. He holds some disgust for perversion, as seen when Goku had offered dirty magazines to Old Kai in exchange for unlocking Gohan's power, Shin tells Goku that such an offer was inappropriate, only to be extremely shocked and disgusted when he learns that Old Kai actually uses his omniscient vision to see girls playing volleyball on the beach, yelling "you call yourself a Kai?!". Shin condemns Goku Black for engaging in behavior unbecoming of a Supreme Kai after the latter mortally wounds Gowasu.
Shin has a strained relationship with Beerus, as he rarely gets along with him though he tolerates his occasional rough and rude behavior towards him. Their relationship is further strained after the Grand Minister had announced the stipulations for the Tournament of Power; after Beerus had condemned him for being too uninvolved with the mortal worlds since Shin believed that mortals needed to develop their levels on their own, Shin had retorted Beerus of slacking off instead of doing his job.
Abilities: Flight - The ability to fly without the use of ki.
Godly ki - Being a Supreme Kai, Shin both possesses and can sense Godly ki.
Telepathy – It is a way to communicate with others using one's mind. Users can also read the minds of the ones they communicate with, similar to telepathic eavesdropping.
Telekinesis – A technique that allows the user to manipulate objects and other people with the power of one's mind.
Invisible Eye Blast – A Kiai technique shot from the eyes.
Energy's Last – Shin puts his hands forward and charges a purple energy sphere. Then, he fires the sphere in the form of an energy wave at the opponent, inflicting a high amount of damage.
Kai Kai – A technique that allows its user to instantly teleport to another planet, place or person. Unlike Instant Transmission, the user does not actually need to focus on a specific energy signature to use as a target. This means that the user can transport anywhere within and even outside the universe.
Healing - As a Kai, Shin possesses the ability to rejuvenate anyone and restore them to full health instantly, even if they are on the brink of death.
Life Link - According to Whis, Shin's and Beerus' lives are linked to one another, so if one of them dies, the other will die as well (in a manner similar to Piccolo and Kami) in order to prevent an imbalance between the natural forces of creation and destruction which Shin and Beerus represent.
The Core People are a race of beings from World Core. The Core People are the true race all Kai and Supreme Kai come from before being given their respective role. They usually have a humanoid appearance with hair, pointed ears and distinctive attires. Their planet holds roughly a population of 80 Core people at one time.

Dust swirls along the broken stone path as Supreme Kai steps carefully through the outskirts of a desolate village. The buildings are half-collapsed, their wooden beams scorched and twisted, the air heavy with the lingering scent of smoke and ash. He walks in silence, robes flowing behind him, eyes scanning every corner with quiet intensity.
He kneels beside a cracked crater in the earth—charred at the edges, still faintly warm.
“This wasn’t natural,” he murmurs, fingertips brushing the ground. “The energy… it’s old. Foul. But familiar.”
"Who are you people!? Don't you see the universe matters more than your meaningless squabble?"
