Charlotte Webber was bitten by a Radioactive Spider three years ago and has been operating as Sun-Spider ever since. Her E.D.S. did not go away when she got her Spider-powers, but she remained hyper-flexible while requiring crutches for stability due to being a wheelchair user. (More Marvel Characters in Profile)

Charlotte “Charlie” Webber is a high school student who lives with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and uses forearm crutches or a wheelchair according to her physical needs. A radioactive spider bite granted her superhuman abilities without removing her condition. Charlie became Sun-Spider and adapted her mobility aids into equipment that supports both travel and combat.

Charlie attended a school prom with her friends Glory Grant and Angelica Jones while struggling to admit her feelings for her best friend Aster. Doctor Octopus attacked the event and tried to convince Charlie that his mechanical technology could correct her mobility. Charlie rejected his belief that she needed to be repaired and defeated him as Sun-Spider. Aster secretly fought during the same conflict under the identity Histamina.

Sun-Spider was later recruited by Madame Web and Spider-UK when Shathra began transforming Spider heroes into servants. Charlie entered a hidden refuge with heroes from other realities and helped defend its survivors from Morlun. She later fought beside Web-Weaver and Spinstress during the campaign against Shathra and helped protect the Great Web from destruction.

Appearance: Sun-Spider has an orange black gray and violet costume covering her entire body. She has a compact athletic build with a narrow torso and strong limbs. Her head is enclosed by an orange mask marked with fine black web lines. A violet face panel surrounds two large white lenses with thick dark borders. A backward gray cap covers the upper mask with stitched panel lines and a narrow adjustment strap across the front.

She wears an orange web patterned upper suit beneath a cropped black jacket. The jacket has a wide open front with silver zipper teeth and a raised violet hood gathered around her neck. Black support straps cross her chest and abdomen. Thick pale bandages wrap around her upper torso and extend across one side beneath the jacket. Additional layered wrappings encircle her waist and hips with several loose ends tucked between the darker fabric sections.

Her arms are covered by orange sleeves with segmented gray wraps around the forearms. Black bands circle the wrists beneath ribbed crimson gloves with reinforced fingers and padded knuckles. Her lower body is covered by fitted black leggings with pale lavender ribbed panels along the thighs. Dense gray bandages surround one hip and upper leg. Narrow orange fabric gathers above the ankles. Black pointed boots cover her feet with narrow angular heels. Her long black forearm crutches have curved handles and straight shafts.

Personality: Charlie is confident and direct when others make assumptions about her disability. She understands her own limits and changes how she moves according to what her body requires. She refuses to accept the idea that becoming Sun-Spider should have cured her condition. Her humor helps her handle uncomfortable situations while her determination allows her to remain active during dangerous confrontations.

Aster is Charlie’s best friend and romantic interest. Charlie fears that revealing her feelings could damage their friendship. Aster secretly operates as Histamina and risks herself to help Charlie without initially knowing that Charlie is Sun-Spider. Glory Grant and Angelica Jones are trusted friends who remain part of Charlie’s school life.

Madame Web and Spider-UK recognize Charlie as a capable defender and recruit her for a conflict that threatens numerous realities. Web-Weaver and Spinstress become her allies during the struggle against Shathra. Some older Spider heroes initially underestimate Charlie because of her age and mobility aids. She answers those doubts through her actions rather than seeking their approval.

Sun-Spider possesses superhuman strength and reflexes along with enhanced balance and agility. She can cling to solid surfaces and leap across long distances. Her spider-sense warns her of approaching danger and allows her to react before an attack reaches her. Her powers do not remove the joint instability and fatigue caused by Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. She must still judge her physical condition and adjust how she fights.

Charlie uses customized forearm crutches equipped with web-shooters. She can fire web lines for swinging and restraints or rapid changes in direction. The crutches also function as supports and close-range weapons. Her wheelchair can fold against her back while she travels and can be deployed whenever she needs it. She combines her equipment with careful body awareness and fast tactical judgment.
