Formerly a brilliant scientist, Jonathon Ohnn gained the ability to create teleportation portals when his research went wrong. Turning to a life of crime and adopting the moniker of 'The Spot', Ohnn has since become a semi-frequent adversary to Spider-Man and is oft treated as a less than serious threat despite his capabilities. Johnathon Ohnn was a gifted scientist with a brilliant mind, studying at M.I.T., where he befriended his roommate Quentin Beck. His personal life was more turbulent; he went through a divorce and struggled to support his young son, Wyatt, but remained dedicated to scientific research. Driven to provide for his family and push scientific boundaries, he eventually joined the Kingpin’s organization as a researcher.

Assigned to replicate Cloak’s dimensional energy, Ohnn created a circular portal by reproducing the same radiation signature. A citywide blackout destabilized the experiment, and fearing the portal would collapse, he stepped inside. He was transported to a strange half-light, half-dark dimension filled with innumerable portals and managed to swim back through his original gateway. His body had changed on return: countless black portals now covered his skin, granting him the ability to manipulate space. Calling himself the Spot, he first clashed with Spider-Man and the Black Cat, initially defeating them before later losing when he overextended his portals.

Spot later joined a small group of animal-themed C-list villains in the short-lived Spider-Man Revenge Squad, then was captured by the Gideon Trust and forced to open a portal to the Negative Zone. He spent time imprisoned in the Cage, where his powers were nullified, and he dedicated himself to education and rehabilitation, even teaching inmates to read. Sharing a cell with Tombstone ended in violence, yet Spot ultimately sacrificed his own freedom to warn guards of Tombstone’s intentions. Granted parole for his sincerity, he even teleported Tombstone to Switzerland for life-saving surgery—only for Tombstone to break his neck. Spot eventually resurrected, later being killed again by Elektra and the Hand before being revived by Hydra, the Hand, and Dawn of the White Light for an attack on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. Despite later appearing alive again, these resurrections were never explained.

He briefly joined MODOK’s 11, betraying the team for money and stealing the Hypernova energy source, only to be trapped by the Mandarin’s Darklight ring inside the “Spotted Dimension.” Driven mad, he used memories of his son Wyatt as an anchor to return to Earth. Learning Wyatt had been injured by a Russian mobster in a drive-by, Spot attempted revenge but was stopped by Spider-Man. Unable to speak coherently due to his fractured mind, he delivered a dot-filled letter and a copy of Treasure Island for his comatose son before vanishing.

Spot eventually joined Mister Negative as a mole inside the Hood’s criminal empire and helped Negative escape. Later, Doctor Octopus recruited him in the plot to kidnap Norman Osborn’s newborn grandson, resulting in Spot’s defeat and arrest.

Manipulated again, Spot was forced to serve as a living power source in experiments that created the villain Coyote, and when freed, his unstable portals temporarily mutated him into a monstrous mass of limbs before Daredevil subdued him. He resurfaced on a contract to capture Jessica Jones, fought Captain Marvel, and fled.

Spot became part of the New Sinister Six assembled by the Iron Spider, helping steal an abandoned S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier before the team fractured and was ultimately defeated by the Champions. He was later hired by Turk Barrett during an Infinity Stone meeting, battling Captain Marvel and being shot by Rocket Raccoon before fleeing the scene.

He frequented the Bar With No Name, getting involved in trivia nights and bounty hunts on Boomerang, and later was hired to assassinate a former S.H.I.E.L.D. operative. This mission ended in a chaotic fight with the Winter Soldier and RJ, during which Bucky’s arm was ripped off before Spot was finally beaten and arrested.

After Hydra encased Manhattan in Darkforce, Kingpin forced Spot into experiments to weaponize his connection to the Darkforce Dimension. Spot later trapped Kindred in a Darkforce prison for Kingpin and Norman Osborn, then freed him when Osborn demanded it.

Spot was eventually attacked and torn apart by Carnage, who absorbed both his body and his powers. His disembodied head, remaining conscious within the Spotted Dimension, declared he would return.

Spot later resurfaced when Tony Stark (posing as Doctor Doom) hired him to steal sensitive patents, leading to fights with Deadpool and the Invisible Woman before Spot escaped.

Finally, Spot enacted his most dangerous scheme: traveling the multiverse and empowering alternate versions of himself before murdering them to absorb their power. He offered multiple Spider-Men the chance to rewrite their past in exchange for cooperation. Earth-616 and Earth-1048’s Spider-Men pursued him across realities as Spot continued killing variants and manipulating evil Spider-Men. Ultimately, Spot was nearly killed by a version of himself who had predicted the plan and set a trap, but the two Spider-Men rescued him just in time, stopping his multiversal power grab.

Appearance: Spot has stark white skin that looks smooth and pale across his entire body. His form is covered in numerous black, perfectly round spots of varying sizes, scattered over his arms, torso, hips, and legs in an uneven but dense pattern. The spots appear embedded in his skin, creating sharp contrast against the pure white surface. His head is also completely white except for a single large black void where his face should be, with no features visible inside it.

Personality: Spot is intelligent, obsessive, and frayed at the edges, a scientist’s mind wrapped inside a man constantly pulled between brilliance and instability. He speaks with a quick, analytical sharpness, always explaining phenomena in technical terms even when he’s emotionally overwhelmed. His thoughts often drift, jumping between scientific theory, dimensional geometry, and bitter memories, especially involving his son, Wyatt. He carries a quiet resentment toward those who underestimate him, and sometimes erupts in defensive anger when mocked.

Despite his volatility, there is a core of decency buried under the trauma and madness. He feels guilt, longing, and a desperate need for purpose, and can be unexpectedly compassionate—especially toward the vulnerable or toward anyone who reminds him of his son. He’s prone to self-doubt, moments of remorse, and an ongoing fear of losing control of his powers or mind. When confident, he becomes sly, unpredictable, and eerily calm, using dry humor and understated menace. When cornered, he becomes erratic and dangerous, shifting from muttering self-analysis to sudden violence with no hesitation.

Spot possesses the ability to create portals through the Spotted Dimension, his bleached-white skin covered in black spatial warps that serve as gateways. Anything that passes through one of these spots is transported instantly to another location by way of the dimension between. He can move the spots across his body, remove them and place them elsewhere, suspend them in mid-air, and even use them to extend his limbs across long distances. He is also capable of teleporting himself through these portals.

Ohnn demonstrates a form of immortality tied to the Spotted Dimension. Even when decapitated, he remains conscious and capable of speech, and if his physical body is destroyed, it disintegrates and reforms inside the dimension. He can also transfer his powers to other people if he chooses.

As Dr. Johnathon Ohnn, he is a gifted physicist and engineer trained at M.I.T., a pioneer in portal mechanics whose scientific breakthroughs laid the groundwork for his transformation. His understanding of interdimensional physics is both deep and practical, allowing him to apply his powers with precision and creativity.

Spot’s abilities have limits. He cannot throw an infinite number of portals, as he primarily relies on the spots present on his body. If he uses too many, leaving himself nearly all white, he becomes vulnerable, a weakness Spider-Man once exploited to defeat him.
