Shoto Todoroki, known by the hero name Shoto, is a student of U.A. High School’s Class 1-A and the son of Pro Hero Endeavor. He was born as the result of Endeavor’s attempt to create a child capable of surpassing All Might, inheriting both his father’s fire and his mother Rei Todoroki’s ice. Endeavor subjected Shoto to severe training from childhood while separating him from his siblings, and after Rei suffered a breakdown and burned the left side of Shoto’s face, Shoto grew to despise his father and refused to use the fire half of his Quirk. At the U.A. Sports Festival, Izuku Midoriya forced Shoto to confront the fact that his fire belonged to him rather than Endeavor, leading Shoto to finally use both halves of his power during their match.

Shoto later chose to intern under Endeavor, partly to learn how to control his fire more effectively, and joined Izuku Midoriya and Tenya Ida during the confrontation with Hero Killer: Stain in Hosu. He helped defeat Stain and continued training both sides of his Quirk, though his unresolved family trauma remained a major obstacle. Shoto failed the first Provisional Hero License Exam after allowing his conflict with Inasa Yoarashi to compromise their teamwork, but later attended remedial training and earned his license after learning to cooperate more effectively and connect with difficult children. By the U.A. School Festival period, he had become considerably more willing to use his full power while continuing to separate his own identity from Endeavor’s ambitions.

Appearance: Shoto has fair peach skin and a tall, lean athletic build with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long, proportionate limbs. His hair is split evenly into two distinct colors, bright white on the right side and deep crimson red on the left, cut into thick layered strands that fall across his forehead and around his ears. His right eye is cool gray, while his left eye is turquoise-blue, with a reddish burn scar surrounding the left eye and extending across the nearby temple. He wears a dark navy-blue fitted combat uniform with a high structured collar and a pale segmented guard encircling the base of his neck. Broad light gray harness straps pass over his shoulders and connect across his upper torso, contrasting against the dark fabric. The sleeves stop around his forearms, leaving his hands and lower arms uncovered.

His trousers continue in the same dark navy material, fitted through the hips and thighs with angular reinforced panels stitched over the knees. A wide pale utility belt circles his waist, composed of rectangular segmented sections with several compact pouches and two small gray cylindrical canisters hanging from the front. Light gray armor-like bands wrap around his lower calves above tall white boots. The boots have broad shafts, angular panel seams, thick soles, and fitted white coverings extending up toward the knees.

Personality: Shoto is quiet, serious, blunt, and initially emotionally distant, having spent much of his childhood isolated and controlled by Endeavor. His refusal to use fire was rooted in resentment rather than inability, and much of his development involves accepting that his power and future belong to him. Although socially awkward and often overly literal, he is compassionate, dependable, and increasingly willing to support his classmates. He remains highly competitive but gradually becomes less consumed by proving something to his father.

Endeavor is the most conflicted relationship in Shoto’s life. Shoto resents him for the abuse inflicted on their family and initially rejects everything associated with him, though he later agrees to learn from Endeavor professionally without forgiving his actions. Rei remains deeply important to Shoto, and he begins visiting her in the hospital as part of repairing their relationship. Izuku Midoriya becomes one of his closest friends after challenging his rejection of his fire, while Tenya Ida earns his trust through their shared experiences in Hosu. Shoto also maintains close ties with Momo Yaoyorozu, whose confidence he helps restore during their final exam against Eraser Head, and he develops a competitive relationship with Katsuki Bakugo, who remains furious that Shoto did not fight him at full strength during the Sports Festival final.

Shoto possesses the Quirk Half-Cold Half-Hot, allowing him to generate ice from the right side of his body and fire from the left. His ice can rapidly freeze large areas, create massive walls and glaciers, restrain opponents, form defensive barriers, and propel him across the ground. His fire provides intense heat and offensive power while counteracting the dangerous drop in body temperature caused by excessive ice use, allowing him to fight far longer when he properly balances both sides.

His named techniques include Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall, which creates an enormous mass of ice capable of overwhelming multiple opponents or reshaping the battlefield, and Flashfreeze Heatwave, which combines extreme cold with sudden intense heat to generate a devastating blast of expanding air. Shoto is also highly skilled in close-range combat, battlefield control, and rapid tactical decision-making, with his ability to attack and defend over wide areas making him one of Class 1-A’s strongest students.
