Riyo Chuchi

Riyo Chuchi was a young Pantoran senator representing Pantora in the Galactic Senate during the Clone Wars. Early in her tenure, she accompanied Chairman Chi Cho, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Republic forces to Orto Plutonia after a clone outpost there stopped responding. The expedition discovered that the world was inhabited by the Talz, whose leader Thi-Sen wanted the Pantoran and Republic presence withdrawn. Cho rejected negotiations and declared the Talz trespassers on Pantoran territory, provoking an armed conflict despite Chuchi’s efforts to prevent one.

After Cho was mortally wounded, the Pantoran Assembly stripped him of authority and empowered Chuchi to end the fighting. She refused his final demand that the Talz be destroyed and negotiated directly with Thi-Sen, recognizing the Talz claim to Orto Plutonia and bringing the brief war to an end. The experience forced Chuchi to act independently of the officials who had previously overshadowed her and established her as a considerably stronger representative of Pantora.

Chuchi later confronted another crisis when the Trade Federation blockaded Pantora while Chairman Papanoida’s daughters were kidnapped as part of a Separatist-backed conspiracy. Working with Ahsoka Tano, she boarded the Federation vessel enforcing the blockade and helped locate Chi Eekway, one of the missing daughters. Chuchi confronted Federation officer Sib Canay, exposed his involvement with the Separatists, and used the evidence against him to force the Trade Federation to end the blockade, securing relief for Pantora without surrendering it to Separatist pressure.

Appearance: Riyo Chuchi has cool cobalt-blue skin and a slim, petite build with narrow shoulders, a small bust, a defined waist, and long slender legs. Her eyes are golden amber beneath dark brows. Her hair is lavender-pink, smoothed closely over the head beneath a fitted pale lilac head covering that wraps around the crown and sides. Large gold ornamental structures sit at both sides of her head, formed from curved segmented plates with pointed hanging pieces extending beside the ears. Small gold accents continue along the lower edges of the head ornaments. She wears a high dark indigo collar that rises around the neck, edged with thin gold trim and decorated with several small gold studs across the front. A pale blue-gray shoulder mantle covers the upper torso in a broad angular layer, with dark violet swirling motifs spreading across the chest and additional gold teardrop-shaped studs arranged along the lower edge.

Her arms are covered by long fitted violet gloves that extend above the elbows and finish with narrow gold edging near the openings. Beneath the mantle, her torso is wrapped in darker blue-violet fabric with layered sash-like sections around the waist and hips, secured with thin gold piping and small hanging ties. Her trousers are loose through the thighs and taper toward the calves, made from deep indigo fabric with soft folds gathered above the boots. The lower legs are wrapped in pale blue-violet bands stacked in several horizontal layers. Her boots are lavender-blue with pointed flared ankle guards, dark soles, and small gold studs near the outer edges, while darker violet decorative curls mark the front panels.

Personality: Riyo is idealistic, compassionate, diplomatic, and increasingly assertive as the war progresses. She begins her senatorial career uncertain of herself and hesitant when confronted by more forceful leaders, but Orto Plutonia forces her to decide whether obedience matters more than preventing an unnecessary war. Afterward, she becomes much more willing to challenge powerful officials directly, particularly when the interests of Pantora or innocent civilians are threatened. She prefers negotiation over violence, though her willingness to enter hostile territory with Ahsoka demonstrates that her commitment to diplomacy does not come from fear of personal danger.

Padmé Amidala is a fellow senator and friend whose confidence and commitment to diplomacy closely align with Riyo’s developing political outlook. Ahsoka Tano becomes another trusted friend and partner, accompanying her aboard the Trade Federation blockade vessel during the kidnapping crisis. Chi Cho is initially the dominant political authority over Riyo and repeatedly dismisses her preference for negotiation, forcing her eventually to oppose his orders. Thi-Sen becomes the leader with whom she negotiates peace on Orto Plutonia, while Baron Papanoida succeeds Cho as chairman and works with her during the blockade of Pantora. Sib Canay becomes her principal adversary during that crisis after his Separatist connections are exposed.

Riyo is a skilled diplomat, negotiator, and political representative with extensive knowledge of Republic and Pantoran government. She can mediate between hostile groups, recognize when legal authority has been exceeded, and use political pressure effectively once she possesses sufficient evidence. Her negotiations with Thi-Sen end an active armed conflict, while her confrontation with the Trade Federation demonstrates a growing ability to turn an opponent’s political vulnerability against them without resorting to military force.

She is also capable of operating directly in dangerous investigations rather than remaining protected behind senatorial authority. Chuchi accompanies the Orto Plutonia expedition into hostile territory and later infiltrates a Trade Federation battleship with Ahsoka while searching for Chi Eekway. Her greatest practical strengths remain her judgment, persistence, and ability to speak for Pantora under pressure rather than conventional combat training.
