Red Harpy

Red Harpy is Betty Ross’s later gamma form, growing out of her earlier history as the Harpy. Betty first becomes the Harpy after M.O.D.O.K. exposes her to intense gamma radiation and turns her into a winged creature with talons and destructive energy blasts. Bruce Banner eventually helps restore her, but that transformation remains part of Betty’s gamma history and later returns in a new red form tied to everything she has endured through Bruce, her father, and the violent world surrounding the Hulk.

Betty becomes Red Harpy after Bushwacker shoots her while targeting Bruce Banner during a U.S. Hulk Operations mission. Her gamma-mutated body survives the wound and changes into a red, winged Harpy form with a far more feral presence than her earlier Red She-Hulk identity. As Red Harpy, Betty tracks Bruce by scent and becomes part of the conflict surrounding the Immortal Hulk, acting less like a clean heroic partner and more like someone whose pain, anger, and gamma mutation have fused into a dangerous new shape.

Appearance: Red Harpy has red skin and a tall, lean muscular build with sharp shoulders, sinewy arms, a defined torso, and long powerful legs. She has long wild black hair with pale streaks, glowing orange eyes, pointed ears, sharp teeth, and clawed hands with long talons. Large feathered wings extend from her back, with dark bases and broad red feathers spread across the wing length.

She wears a tight black bodysuit with thin shoulder straps, fitted closely across the torso, hips, and thighs. Her forearms and lower legs show darker mutated sections, with birdlike claw shapes on the hands and feet. Red feather growths cover parts of her lower legs, blending into large taloned feet with rough, elongated toes.

Personality: As Red Harpy, Betty Ross is more openly feral than her earlier gamma forms, but she is not mindless. She can speak, recognize people, and act with purpose, yet her behavior is harsher and more instinctive than the controlled persona she had as Red She-Hulk. She tracks Bruce Banner by scent, attacks with little hesitation, and often treats her transformed body as the shape that best expresses what years of fear and damage have made of her.

Her central relationship remains Bruce Banner, though Red Harpy’s bond with him is not soft or simple. She is drawn to him through love, resentment, shared gamma corruption, and the long history between Betty and the Hulk. Her father, Thaddeus Ross, remains one of the defining forces in her life because his war against the Hulk shaped so much of what Betty suffered. Red Harpy also carries the shadow of her earlier Harpy transformation, making M.O.D.O.K. part of the history behind this form even if her later red mutation belongs to a different chapter of her life.

Red Harpy’s power comes from Betty Ross’s gamma-mutated body. In this form, she has a winged frame that allows flight and aerial attacks, with enough physical strength to tear into heavily mutated opponents at close range. Her body can withstand extreme punishment, and her gamma nature lets her survive injuries that would kill an ordinary person. Her talons and beak make her especially dangerous in melee combat, since she fights by ripping into enemies rather than using a polished martial style.

She also has heightened predatory senses. Red Harpy can track Bruce Banner by scent, showing that her transformation gives her an animalistic awareness beyond normal human ability. She remains intelligent enough to speak and recognize people, but her fighting style is much more instinct-driven than Betty’s human self. Her main skill in this form is brutal close-range pursuit, using flight to close distance before attacking with claws, strength, and gamma-fueled resilience.
