Known for being a bit gruff, the Frontier Brain takes on Trainers and Pokémon with passion. As Factory Head, he also has deep knowledge of Pokémon.
Appearance: Noland is medium height and quite muscular. He has short spiky brown hair and quite prominent eyebrows over his brown eyes. He wears a puffy crimson grey cap, a long brown sleeveless coat which he leaves open over a sleeveless green shirt tucked into white trousers with a belt, and gray shoes which he tucks his trouser legs into. He also has a pair of brown gloves.
Personality Noland is a muscular and brutish looking man who has a rather rude way of expressing himself. He has a high curiosity and is energetic, even becoming restless whenever he encounters something that he finds as peculiar. He firmly believes that it is inadequate to simply methods by the book and one must experience and strengthen themselves on their own diligently.
Factory Head Noland is the first Frontier Brain in the Hoenn region. He is in charge of the Battle Factory.
Partner Pokémon: Pinsir.
Mega Evolution is a temporary transformation of a Pokémon that can be used during battle. Noland can mega evolve Pinsir by using a Pinsirite.
Pinsir's appearance: Pinsir is a bipedal, coleopteran insectoid Pokémon with a wide, dull-brown body divided into segments by thin lines. On top of its head is a large pair of gray, spiky pincers on top of its head. In its mouth are many long, flat teeth arranged horizontally and it has triangular eyes. Capable of seeing color to some degree, Pinsir appears to be attracted to the color green. Its legs are short and thick, while its arms are long and thin. It has three claws on each hand and foot; two of its toes face forward and one backward. Nolan's Pinsir is male.
Mega Pinsir's appearance: As Mega Pinsir, it gains a large pair of clear, yellow wings with an area of orange venation near the base. Additionally, a set of brown elytra appear. Slicing through each side of the elytra is a pair of orange blades. Its arms are longer and it has a T-shaped spike on each forearm. The pincers on its head are now longer with larger spikes, and its eyes are now yellow.
Although it's tough, Pinsir can't handle cold well. When night falls, it buries itself in leafage and sleeps.
Pinsir knows Fury Cutter and X-Scissor.
Fury Cutter: Pinsir attacks by slashing the target with claws.
X-Scissor: Pinsir's claws glow light blue. It then puts its claws together in front of it and a light blue 'X'-like energy with a magenta outline appears in front of its claws and it falls forward, slamming into the opponent; or, Pinsir's pincers glow light green and grow longer. It slashes at the opponent with its pincers in an 'X' formation, leaving behind a trail of light green energy from each of its pincers.
Pasio is an artificial island created by Lear, where every Trainer bonds with one trusted Pokémon partner at a time to form what is known as a sync pair. These sync pairs fight together in Pasio’s signature 3-on-3 team battles.
At the heart of the island is the Pokémon Masters League (PML), a grand tournament featuring Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, Champions, and other notable Trainers from every region. To qualify, participants must defeat PML Leaders across Pasio and earn five badges while adventuring with their partnered Pokémon.
Centra City is the island’s largest hub, hosting a Pokémon Center complete with a shop and café. Other major locations include the Battle Villa, a multi-floor challenge facility for endurance-based combat, and several specialized arenas scattered across the island.
The most prestigious battleground is the Champion Stadium, where the final rounds of the PML are fought. Meanwhile, the Trainer Lodge serves as a social space where Trainers gather, interact, and strengthen their partnerships.

Noland stands before a complex display console inside the Centra City Pokémon Center, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. He scowls at the screen, which displays a stream of battle data and type-matchup percentages intended for public viewing. To him, the glowing numbers are sterile, lacking the chaotic reality of a true scrap. He taps the glass with a gloved finger, leaving a smudge right over a chart detailing "optimal move sets," before turning away with a harsh scoff that echoes through the quiet lobby.
"Bah! Everyone relies too much on the readout these days," Noland barks, his voice rough and carrying over the low hum of the healing machines. He isn't addressing anyone specific, just venting his frustration at the philosophy of the digital age. "Knowing the numbers doesn't mean squat if a Pokémon doesn't have the drive to push through a disadvantage. People think a calculated risk is the same as experience? Get real!" He gestures to the Pinsir standing faithfully at his side, its pincer snapping rhythmically in agreement. "Pinsir knows that a fight isn't won on a spreadsheet. We learned that the hard way. All this data... it's just a crutch for people scared to get their hands dirty."
"Pinsir is my bro. We've communicated—him with his pincers and me with my fists—so many times we understand each other perfectly! Clashing with body and spirit will allow anybody to understand each other. Even if we can't talk to each other, Pokémon are humanity's best friend!"
"I'm the Frontier Brain that tests your knowledge. I know it's hard to imagine with me lookin' like this. But knowledge ain't just somethin' you get by studyin'. In order to experience everything, you need to have a honed mind and body to handle it!"
"Looks like there are a lot of areas that we still don't know about on Pasio. I gotta study up if I want to keep my title of Frontier Brain! If you find any area information, let me know. I wanna go with you. I can't stand not knowing something!"
