Mangog was created many centuries ago following a failed invasion of Asgard by an unidentified alien race. After defeating the attackers, Odin cast a powerful spell that bound the collective energy and consciousness of the entire population of a billion beings into a single massive body. The All-Father then entombed this creature within the Cave of Ages to serve as a permanent containment for the fallen species. The monster remained dormant in this subterranean prison until the Rock Troll Ulik accidentally broke the mystical seals while searching for a powerful ally to help him conquer the golden realm.

Upon his release, Mangog attempted to trigger the end of the universe by pulling the Odinsword from its scabbard. He has returned to plague the Norse gods on multiple occasions by absorbing the psychic power of their own hatred and fear to sustain his physical form. During one notable encounter, Jane Foster utilized the mythical chains known as Gleipnir to bind the creature to the hammer Mjolnir before throwing both into the sun. His essence eventually manifested again as a component of a destructive sentient weapon known as the God of Hammers. He continues to pursue his goal of universal retribution against any beings who claim divine authority over the cosmos.

Appearance: Mangog has tan skin. He has a massive and heavily muscular build. He has solid white eyes. Two thick, textured horns extend outward and forward from the sides of his head. His body features a heavily segmented and scaly texture. His massive arms lead into large hands equipped with thick, curved dark brown claws. A pink and dark purple striped band wraps around each wrist. A wide dark purple belt featuring a lighter purple square grid pattern wraps around his waist. A secondary dark purple band with raised circular studs rests just below the grid pattern. A long, dark grey shredded loincloth hangs from the belt down between his legs. A thick, scaly tail extends from his lower back. His heavy legs end in large feet with two front toes and a rear heel spur, all tipped with massive dark brown claws.

Personality: Mangog is the physical manifestation of the collective hatred belonging to a billion beings who were once killed by Odin and the Norse Gods. He possesses a single-minded obsession with the destruction of Asgard and the death of its royal family. He does not experience mercy or fatigue because he is powered by the combined agony of his creators. He is a relentless entity that grows stronger when he is in the presence of fear or resentment. He views his existence as the ultimate judgment for the past actions of the Norse gods.

His primary relationship is his eternal hostility toward Odin and the protector of the realm, Thor. He frequently engages in physical combat with the God of Thunder to clear a path to the throne of Asgard. He does not form alliances with other villains because he considers all other living creatures to be irrelevant to his mission. He is fundamentally linked to the Odinsword which often serves as the only tool capable of containing his physical presence. He treats all inhabitants of the Nine Realms as obstacles that he must remove to achieve his goal of universal retribution.

Mangog draws his superhuman capabilities from the mystical and psionic energies generated by hatred and the desire for vengeance. He possesses a level of physical strength that far exceeds that of Thor because he embodies the collective power of a billion billion beings. Despite his massive size and weight, he can move at speeds and with an agility that surpass the capabilities of any human athlete. His musculature does not produce fatigue toxins, which means he has nearly limitless stamina as long as he has access to vengeful thoughts. He is virtually invulnerable to all forms of conventional injury and can withstand extreme temperatures, pressures, and energy blasts that would kill an Asgardian god.

This creature can manipulate vast amounts of mystical energy for destructive purposes. He is capable of firing blasts of concussive force from his hands and can manipulate matter at a molecular level. He demonstrated his capacity for energy absorption when he swallowed a lightning attack and discharged it back at his opponent with increased power. He also possesses the ability to shapeshift and once used this power to impersonate Odin so that he could usurp the throne of Asgard. His physical form swells with even greater power when he feeds on the selfish or petty behaviors of deities who abuse their authority.

Mangog has received no formal training in combat, but his raw physical power and energy manipulation make him a formidable opponent for even the most powerful gods. He relies on his overwhelming strength and endurance to crush his enemies during battle. His primary weakness is his dependency on the negative emotions that sustain his life. If he is deprived of mystical and psionic energies, he will begin to shrink and eventually vanish from existence. He must constantly be in the presence of hatred or vengeance to maintain his physical presence in the universe.
