Iris West is a Central City investigative reporter whose work keeps her close to the dangers surrounding the Flash. She becomes Barry Allen’s fiancée and later his wife, eventually learning that Barry is the Flash after he speaks in his sleep on their wedding night. Her connection to the Flash legacy deepens through her nephew Wally West, who becomes Kid Flash and later carries the Flash name himself.

Iris’s life is also tied to the 30th century. She is born in the future to the Russell family, sent into the past as an infant, and raised by Ira West. After Professor Zoom kills her, her future-born parents preserve her consciousness and restore her in a new body, allowing her to reunite with Barry. Iris later lives with Barry in the 30th century for a time, where she gives birth to Don and Dawn Allen, whose descendants keep the Flash bloodline alive through Bart Allen and Jenni Ognats.

Later, Iris remains one of the central people in Barry’s life whenever he returns to Central City. She continues working as a reporter while standing close to the Flash Family’s battles, losses, and time-spanning problems.

Appearance: Iris West has fair peach skin and a tall, curvy build with a full chest, narrow waist, full hips, and long legs. She has shoulder-length light brown hair with soft layered waves and blue eyes. She wears a fitted beige long-sleeved shirt, blue high-waisted jeans, a black belt with a silver buckle, and tan lace-up boots with thick soles.

Personality: Iris West is a persistent investigative reporter with a strong instinct for chasing the truth, even when that truth leads her into danger around Central City’s speedster world. She is often written as sharp with Barry Allen over his lateness and secrecy, but that firmness comes with loyalty once she understands the life he is living as the Flash. Official profiles describe her as a hero in her own right through journalism, not only because of her connection to Barry.

Her closest relationship is with Barry Allen, who becomes her husband after years of romance complicated by time travel, death, and the secret of his identity. Wally West is her nephew, and her connection to him helps place her at the center of the Flash Family beyond Barry alone. Iris is also tied to the future through her children with Barry, Don and Dawn Allen, whose family line later leads to speedsters such as Bart Allen.

Iris West’s main skill is investigative journalism. She is trained to follow leads, question witnesses, check records, and expose hidden crimes even when the case brings her close to metahuman danger. Her work at Central City’s news outlets gives her strong research ability and public communication skills, making her useful in situations where information matters as much as speed.

She is also experienced at surviving the dangers around the Flash Family. Iris has dealt with time travel, future technology, supervillain threats, and crises tied to the Speed Force without being a regular combatant herself.
