Tora Olafsdotter was born as the princess of a hidden, mystical race of ice people living within the mountains of Norway. Her people, the Ice Folk, had secluded themselves from the rest of humanity for generations, ruled by Tora’s strict father, the King. Despite her royal lineage and the isolationist laws of her tribe, Tora possessed a gentle spirit and a profound curiosity about the outside world. This desire to see what lay beyond the snow-capped peaks eventually compelled her to leave her kingdom behind, forsaking her birthright to explore modern civilization.

Upon entering the wider world, Tora decided to use her heritage to protect others. She initially joined the Global Guardians, an international team of superheroes, where she represented Norway under the codename Icemaiden. It was during this tenure that she met Beatriz da Costa, the Brazilian hero known as Green Flame. The two formed an inseparable bond, becoming best friends and partners. When the Global Guardians lost their funding from the United Nations, Tora and Beatriz stuck together, eventually petitioning to join the newly formed Justice League International. Rebranding herself simply as "Ice," Tora was accepted into the group, where her sweet, naive demeanor often served as a stabilizing foil to the team's chaotic personalities.

Her time in the Justice League was marked by a complicated romantic relationship with the abrasive Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, whom she saw the good in despite his boorish behavior. Tora served faithfully until the arrival of the alien tyrant known as the Overmaster. In a final act of heroism, she tapped into the full extent of her power to defeat him, an act that resulted in her death as she shattered into snow. However, due to the magical nature of her people, Tora was eventually resurrected, returning to life to reunite with Fire and the Justice League, though she continues to struggle with the dark, controlling legacy of her royal family.

Appearance: Ice has fair skin. Her short, platinum white hair is cut into a bob that ends near her jawline, with wispy strands flaring outward. Her eyes are a clear blue. She wears a tight blue bodysuit that covers her neck and torso. Layered over the chest is a loose, white crop top with a scooped neckline and a ruffled hem that hangs freely above her waist. The blue fabric of the suit is visible at her midriff and hips, extending down the outer sides of her legs. Her arms are clad in blue sleeves on the upper biceps, which disappear under long white, fingerless gloves that reach up past her elbows. A wide white panel covers the front of her pelvis and runs down the center of her legs. She wears white boots with heels, featuring thick, shaggy fur cuffs at the top of the calves.

She possesses a wholesome, "girl next door" demeanor that stands in stark contrast to the cynicism and ego of her teammates. Due to her isolated upbringing, she can appear naive or innocent regarding the complexities of the modern world, but this is rooted in a genuine desire to see the best in people. She is the eternal optimist, approaching every situation with empathy and a gentle hand, often serving as the calming influence in a chaotic room.
