Golem is a sentient magical construct composed of enchanted mud, brought to life through unknown arcane forces. Unlike his flesh-and-blood teammates, his existence is purely artificial, yet he possesses a distinct consciousness and personality. At some point in his history, he transitioned from a magical anomaly to a state-sanctioned operative by joining the Phoenix Program, earning a place as the powerhouse of the Z-Team.

Upon his introduction to the new dispatcher, Robert Robertson, Golem displayed a grounded, albeit cynical, pragmatism. He participated in the team’s collective betting pool regarding Robert’s longevity, placing his stakes on the belief that Robert would not last a single day in the high-stress environment of the Superhero Dispatch Network. Despite this initial skepticism, he has since become one of the most stable and reliable members of the squad.

Appearance: Golem is a towering construct of brown colour and varying size, changed by the amount of material he absorbs on a given day. He has a built torso and comparatively smaller lower half, having shorter legs and large arms and hands. Several debris are stuck in his body, including a large tire in his right bicep, and several unidentified pieces half-sunken in his back. Large pieces of rock are embedded in his arms and legs. He has yellow-orange eyes and a prominent underbite.

Personality: Golem is a peace-loving sentient mud giant who is as remarkably "chill" as he is physically massive. He possesses an incredibly laid-back personality, rarely letting the chaos of hero work or the insults of his teammates affect his emotional state. This relaxed demeanor is often attributed to his habit of frequent drinking, which helps him maintain his mellow vibe even in high-stress situations. However, his intelligence is somewhat limited; he is often literal-minded and slow to catch onto jokes or sarcasm, such as when he failed to realize Robert "offering" him a seat by throwing it was an insult rather than a gesture of hospitality.

While it takes a great deal to rouse his feelings, Golem is capable of intense emotional shifts. When his close friend Invisigal was suspended, he was devastated, resorting to binge-drinking and crying as a way to cope with the loss of her presence. He is also deeply sensitive about his physical bulk; though he never intends to cause harm, he is visibly hurt when Robert rebukes him for being clumsy or unmindful of his size. Despite these moments of vulnerability, he is a social creature at heart. Blonde Blazer believes he joined the Phoenix Program primarily because he was lonely, and he is genuinely excited by group activities, like the Z-Team’s frequent bar fights.

One of Golem’s most defining and endearing traits is his profound love for animals. His gentle nature shines through whenever he is dispatched to calls involving creatures; he has been known to ignore tactical protocols to "father" a baby Kaiju or successfully befriend a tiger that was mistakenly reported as a stray cat. For Golem, being a hero isn't just about the fight—which he enjoys mostly for the camaraderie—but about finding a place where he belongs and protecting the creatures, big and small, that he encounters along the way.

As a morphological being, Golem is a sentient construct composed of dirt, mud, and various earthen elements. This unique composition grants him the power of earth mimicry, allowing him to merge his body into any patch of soil or dirt. He utilizes this for both mobility and stealth, traveling through the ground to bypass obstacles or erupting from the earth to launch devastating surprise attacks on unsuspecting enemies.

In combat, Golem is much more than a simple bruiser. He possesses the unique ability of material projection, which allows him to absorb small objects into his mud-like mass and fire them back out as high-velocity projectiles. During the infamous brawl at The Sardine, he was seen absorbing billiard balls and launching them at opponents like a living cannon. Despite his massive, lumbering stature, he also possesses surprising speed, capable of sprinting across a battlefield fast enough to intercept attacks and shield his teammates from harm.

His durability is perhaps his most valuable asset, characterized by regenerative healing and a total resistance to fire. Because his body is made of inorganic material, he is immune to the searing heat that would incinerate a normal human; he once protected Robert from Flambae’s white-hot flames, emerging from the fire without a single scorch mark or sign of visual damage. This combination of magical resilience and sheer physical force makes him the ultimate vanguard for the Z-Team.

Relationships: Robert Robertson: Their relationship began with some friction, as Golem deeply disliked being scolded for his clumsy nature and massive size. Despite this, he remained a disciplined soldier, following Robert's commands without fail. Their bond took a positive turn after Robert bought him drinks at The Sardine, a gesture of hospitality that Golem repaid tenfold when he later saved Robert's life, using his mud-based bulk to block a lethal fire attack from Flambae.

Invisigal: She is his absolute best friend and primary combat partner. Their relationship is the most wholesome in the program; Golem frequently sends her memes and videos, while she plays video games with him so he doesn't have to deal with toxic random match-ups. Golem’s loyalty to her is total; when she was suspended, he was the only member to defend her consistently, and her absence left him so devastated that he spent his shift binge-drinking and crying.

The Z-Team (Phoenix Program): Golem genuinely enjoys being part of the program, finding a cure for his inherent loneliness within the squad. He isn't a nuisance and doesn't gossip, but when he speaks, the team listens. He is the quiet glue that holds the group together, always willing to fight for his "found family" even when they are at each other's throats.

Superhero Dispatch Network, abbreviated as SDN, is an organization that dispatches superheroes to help subscribers who call in for assistance. The Torrance Branch is a three-story nondescript office building located around the center of its SDN converge map. The outside of the building is made mostly out of glass and dark gray concrete with a blocky square design that surrounds a green space in the center. It also has multiple communication dishes and towers on the roof along with the SDN logo on the side of the building. Inside the building is a blend of 90s tech and muted color pallets along with a few more modern areas giving the building a both retro yet modern look to it. Officially, the Branch Director Blonde Blazer characterizes the facility as a "low-profile" hub, preferring to highlight the "quality of its personnel" rather than its standing in the corporate hierarchy. Despite its lackluster performance metrics, the branch serves as the primary testing ground for the SDN’s controversial "Phoenix Program." This experimental rehabilitation initiative integrates ex-supervillains, anti-heroes, and even active inmates into the workforce, rebranding these volatile assets as the "Z-Team" in a high-risk effort to redirect their destructive capabilities toward sanctioned hero work.

[Z-Team members -

Sonar: A highly intelligent former criminal with a drug addiction, Sonar possesses the physiology of a bat, granting him flight, echolocation, and a monstrous "Megabat" form. Though arrogant about his Harvard education and often abrasive, he is deeply loyal to his friends, particularly Malevola, who serves as his Narcotics Anonymous sponsor.

Flambae: A hot-headed pyromaniac with a history of arson, Flambae wields powerful pyrokinesis that allows him to fly and project flames, though he is surprisingly vulnerable without them. Despite his quick temper and tendency to bully teammates like Waterboy, he views the Z-Team as his close confidants and is fiercely protective of his friend, Prism.

Invisigal: Formerly known as "Invisibitch," she is a stubborn and reckless hero with the power of invisibility who struggles with the belief that her destiny is tied to her powers. She shares a close, mentor-student bond with Blonde Blazer, who helped rehabilitate her image, though her impulsive decisions often put the team at risk.

Coupé: A shadowy, former assassin capable of "Umbrakinesis," Coupé can manipulate darkness to create weapons, fly, and strike with superhuman accuracy. She is generally laid-back enough, but has a vindictive streak, though she is still very close with her ex, Punch Up.

Punch Up: Possessing "Picnokinesis" (density manipulation), superhuman strength, and pain immunity, Punch Up is a durable brawler who enjoys card games in his downtime. He is socially adaptable, hanging out with Flambae and forming a surprisingly sweet, romantic connection with his ex, Coupé.

Malevola: A half-demon sorceress from Australia, Malevola can create portals, absorb life-force to heal others, and transfer wounds, all while wielding a sword and prehensile tail. She is one of the most emotionally mature members of the team, often acting as a level-headed mediator, though she has a mischievous side and can get annoyed easily.

Golem: A stoic and stable presence on the team, Golem is a morphological being with earth mimicry and regenerative healing who remains unaffected by the team's low morale during crises. Little is known about his personal life, but he is reliable in a fight and seems to share a quiet camaraderie with the other "freaks" (notably Visi) of the Phoenix Program.

Prism: Capable of photokinesis and holographic manipulation, Prism can bend light to create illusions and ionize particles for attacks. She is an online celebrity known for her music and Flambae's best friend, also sharing a playful, gambling-loving personality that leads her to make cash bets with Malevola on team outcomes.

Waterboy A timid hero-in-training who generates bodily fluids and possesses a "hydro breath" attack, Waterboy suffers from a stutter and is often the target of Flambae's bullying. Despite his lack of confidence, he is a dedicated fan of Phenomaman and is eager to prove himself, treating his superiors with extreme, sometimes unappreciated, respect.

Phenomaman An alien powerhouse with Superman-like strength, flight, and solar energy absorption, Phenomaman is polite but socially oblivious, often making things awkward with accidental backhanded compliments. He battles deep depression following his breakup with Blonde Blazer, often "trauma dumping" on strangers, but finds new purpose and friendship within the Z-Team.]

The Red Ring is an infamous and powerful crime syndicate of enhanced supervillains operating in Torrance led by Shroud. Members of the Red Ring notably have augments that enhance superhero powers or even give superpowers to those who don't have them. The augments produce a red light when implanted, possibly resulting in the name choice for the villain group.
