Maximilian Veers was a Human male from Denon, born into a middle-class working family. He enrolled in the Imperial Academy, specializing in the Assault Armor Division with a focus on AT-AT walkers. Veers excelled in training, surviving several hazardous assignments that built his reputation as both capable and dangerous. Upon graduation, he was promoted to lieutenant and tested on Culroon III. During the pacification campaign, his warning of an ambush was ignored by General Irrv, who was subsequently killed. Veers disobeyed orders, saving the mission’s stormtrooper detachment, which earned him promotion to major.

Veers married and fathered a son, Zevulon, but his wife died from illness while Zevulon was young. He buried his grief in military service, straining his relationship with his son and pushing him toward Imperial youth service. Veers later achieved the rank of colonel and commanded a garrison on Corellia. He became widely recognized as an authority on AT-ATs, returning to Carida for lectures and prototype demonstrations. During this period, he drew the notice of Darth Vader after defeating a Rebel incursion.

Despite recognition, his advancement slowed due to lack of aristocratic connections. He also covered up a walker design weakness exposed by cadet Davin Felth, reassigning him to infantry. Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, Veers had been selected for duty on the Death Star, but his shuttle was forced down on Yavin 4. He survived until rescued by Major Brenn Tantor’s assault force. Returning to Corellia, he aided CorSec officers Hal and Corran Horn in eliminating Black Sun lieutenant Zekka Thyne. His performance led Grand Admiral Thrawn to recommend him to Vader.

After the destruction of the Death Star, Veers continued secret AT-AT development on Zaloriis, where separatists captured him. Vader rescued him, and together they used a prototype to suppress the Zalorian rebellion. Promoted to major general, Veers commanded ground forces within Vader’s Death Squadron, including the elite Blizzard Force AT-AT unit. He personally oversaw recruitment of top pilots, efficiency increasing despite reduced numbers.

In 3 ABY, following the probe droid’s discovery of Echo Base, Veers led Imperial ground forces at the Battle of Hoth. Deploying Blizzard Force in the valley, he commanded the assault from his AT-AT and personally destroyed the Rebel shield generator, securing Imperial victory on the surface.

After Hoth, Veers’s career continued, though the details are less documented. He ultimately died in 10 ABY during a suicide mission, closing a career defined by discipline, tactical brilliance, and unwavering loyalty to the Empire.

Appearance: General Maximilian Veers wears the standard Imperial Army officer uniform in grey, consisting of a tunic, trousers, and tall black boots. Over this, he is equipped with a light blue-gray chest armor plate with integrated control panels and a matching backplate. He also wears a matching open-faced helmet with a flared back for neck protection. Black gloves cover his hands, and a black utility belt with a holstered blaster is secured at his waist. His uniform is decorated with a rank plaque and code cylinders on the left side of his chest.

Personality: General Maximilian Veers was defined by discipline, loyalty, and pragmatism. He was a professional soldier devoted to the Imperial Army and especially to the Assault Armor Division, where his belief in the dominance of armored vehicles shaped both his career and worldview. Unlike many Imperial officers, Veers lacked aristocratic connections, advancing through skill, determination, and results rather than political maneuvering.

He valued efficiency, preparedness, and direct action, often distrusting complacent or arrogant commanders such as Admiral Ozzel. Veers believed in the Empire’s military doctrine and found personal identity in commanding AT-ATs, considering them symbols of Imperial power. Though capable of defying orders when survival required it, as on Culroon III, he did so from calculation rather than rebellion.

Outside of service, he struggled to balance personal life with duty. The death of his wife pushed him to focus even more on the military, distancing him from his son, Zevulon. This reinforced his image as a man who placed the Empire above all else. Veers’s demeanor was professional, confident, and unwavering in battle, with little tolerance for failure or incompetence.
