Real Name: Masaru Enatsu

Birth Place: Suginami, Tokyo

Age: 36

Height: 5'11" (1.80m)

Weight: 158lbs (72kg)

Masaru Enatsu grew up in Suginami City, Tokyo. This heavily populated city center is home to several animation studios and technology companies. He and his family were never close with one another, leading him to become resistant to working in groups. Fascinated with robotics from an early age, he designed and programmed both terrestrial and flying drones capable of search-and-rescue missions in highly difficult conditions. Two years later, he won the International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC) along with numerous other competitions. This made him known to push the limits of what flying robots could accomplish.

After his studies of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and having a masters degree of Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences at the Tokyo Metropolitan University, he was encouraged to join the National Police Security Bureau. Following his graduation from the National Police Academy a year later, Enatsu joined the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Special Unit. He worked tirelessly in the department's research and development lab in order to test his devices on the field. Trained in counter-terrorism and intelligence gathering, Enatsu began designing specific tech that would better aid the Bureau.

In 2005, he collaborated with Hong Kong Special Duties Unit where he met Siu Mei Lin. Both of them became romantically involved with one another before breaking up a year later. Joint training after the 2007 Nagoya hostage crisis with Yumiko "Hibana" Imagawa, prompted Enatsu to transfer to the Aichi Prefectural Police Department Special Unit where his tenacious focus enabled him to find creative solutions and alternate strategies. Enatsu and Imagawa joint forces once again in Operation Red Crow where they are tasked to raid a Yakuza headquarters known as Skyscraper.

In 2016, Enatsu accepted an invitation to join Rainbow as a field operative. His technical knowledge and skills also made him a prominent member of Rainbow's R&D division working closely with Grace "Dokkaebi" Nam.

Echo is on friendly terms with 707th SMB Operator Grace Nam. Despite this, the two often get competitive when it comes to outdoing each other in the workshop.

Echo shares a deep friendship with fellow Rainbow operative Taina "Caveira" Pereira.

Psychological Report:

Efficiency-obsessed and blunt, Enatsu is a talented officer despite his apathetic nature. Singularly focused, Enatsu's blunt communication style divides group harmony. His tendency to dismiss feedback has kept him from advancing to a higher rank.

"To say that Specialist Masaru "Echo" Enatsu's file has a few flags regarding his conduct is an understatement. Prior to our first session together I had met with every other member of Rainbow – some more than once. So when the conversation began with Enatsu admitting he'd been avoiding me, I knew we were going to get along.

Often, I would rather not read a file first, to give someone a chance to tell me who they are in their own words. In this case it was important that I know what people think, because Enatsu was braced for my reaction.

I gather he and his family aren't close. He joked that a calculator has more emotional range than his parents. This upbringing has made him resistant to working in groups, because a friendly, mutually beneficial dynamic isn't one he's familiar with. It's my hope his time with Rainbow will help, but his desire to explore the "Al" of his fellow operators by pushing their buttons is something that may need to be handled from within the group.

Enatsu's tactics have been described as tricky and unpredictable. This can work as a strong team strategy but it demands communication.

I'd also encourage the team to think of how best to utilize Enatsu's potential. Some operators assume there will be issues with him before they even begin, which leads to predictable results.

Specialists Yumiko “Hibana" Imagawa and Grace "Dokkaebi" Nam work with Enatsu on R&D quite often, actually. I've also noticed that he's developed a rapport with Specialist Taina "Caveira" Pereira. I suspect he appreciates Pereira's candor, since it ties into his own assumption that people who are offended simply don't "get the joke."

Enatsu frustrates easily. He has few outside interests, and consequently thinks only about improving his operational efficiency. It's important that he recognize that everyone needs diversions – those in high-stress jobs even more so. It isn't a sign of weakness to "switch off" every now and again, even if he has been conditioned to believe that a restful mind indicates a lack of intelligence."

-- Dr. Harishva “Harry” Pandey, Director of Rainbow

Appearance: Echo has a light tan skin tone. His hair is black, short, and somewhat tousled, with a slightly coarse texture that falls naturally around his forehead and crown. His eyes are dark brown, narrow, and sharp beneath a black headband that keeps his hair clear from his face.

He wears a dark navy tactical jacket reinforced with padded layers across the shoulders and upper arms. The material has a rough matte texture with visible fabric grain and faint creases from wear. A light gray scarf is wrapped around his neck, extending into a fitted face covering that leaves only his eyes exposed. The fabric of the mask is thick and form-fitting, slightly wrinkled at the edges from use. Over his jacket, he wears a modular tactical vest made of heavy black material with secure nylon straps and multiple pouches. Each pouch is reinforced with textured seams and buckled closures. A metal carabiner and a large securing ring hang at his waistline, attached to the harness that runs diagonally across his chest. The harness is fixed with gray and black webbing, marked by fine stitching and small reinforced clips. His sleeves are rolled down fully, with fabric creases forming near the wrists beneath fitted black gloves. The gloves are textured with reinforced pads over the knuckles and fingers, blending flexible material and hard armor plating. On his right shoulder, there is a white armband with black Japanese characters (for police) and a visible “POLICE” label. Another white patch with a red circle is stitched onto his upper left sleeve. Echo’s pants are a muted charcoal gray with reinforced panels around the knees and upper thighs. The fabric has a durable weave with light fading from wear. Straps and fasteners connect to his belt, which holds additional holsters and pouches in dark webbing. His knee pads are black and bolted, built for impact resistance, showing surface scuffs from repeated use. He wears dark tactical boots made of leather and heavy-duty synthetic material, laced tightly to the ankles. The soles are thick with deep tread patterns for traction. A black holster is strapped along his right thigh, secured with a metal buckle and a retention strap.

Unique Ability: Yokai Wanting to circumvent ranged weapon limitations, Echo crafted Yokai, an unmanned hovering vehicle. Equipped with an acoustic hailing device, this signature drone can fire ultrasonic bursts that disorient all targets in a given perimeter. Yokai also transmits a video feed to Echo, who keeps his immediate perimeter secure. Embrace the power of technology and embody a turret Defender who can both hold up the siege and support roamers.

The Special Assault Team (Japanese: 特殊急襲部隊, Tokushu Kyūshū Butai) is a counter-terrorism unit in some Prefectural Police Departments supervised by the Japanese National Police Agency. Its origin can be traced back to the Special Armed Police who were trained in September 1977 to combat criminal incidents as a response to the Dhaka Incident. They saw their first successful deployment in January 1979 during the Mitsubishi Bank hostage incident and were involved in many other counter-terrorist operations since then. These specially trained SAP members were officially put into the newly established Special Assault Team in 1996 after training for a year with the GSG 9, GIGN, and British SAS.

Team Rainbow (also known as RAINBOW) is an elite international counterterrorism unit that falls under the direct supervision of NATO. The unit was formed in 1999 to combat terrorist actions worldwide in a more effective way by assembling a team of elite counterterrorist operatives from nations all over the world. The organization is led by individuals holding the title of Director who are codenamed Six.

Every Operator is equipped with a drone. Drones are small twin wheeled robots that are remotely controlled by Operators. Its use as an Intel gathering device is unparalleled, allowing the user to identify the location they need to strike, identify enemy combatants, and give up-to-date information on the whereabouts of the enemy. They can be destroyed with one well-placed shot.

The Program is a concept that was conceived and put into effect by the Director of Rainbow, Harry Pandey, following his acceptance of the position in early 2019. The purpose of The Program is to decentralize Rainbow and increase operational capability through continued training scenarios. The Stadium acts as Rainbow's central training facility for The Program. It featured a gym, medical bay, firing range, dormitories, cafeteria, lounges, R&D lab, and a movie theatre.

The White Masks are a terrorist organization. They are easily identifiable by the white masks concealing their faces. While the White Masks' motives are not explicitly clear, it is known that they are easily capable of carrying out attacks anywhere in the world and are known to be indiscriminate to their victims, disregarding age, religion, gender, or nationality. They are a big enough threat that the Rainbow program had been reactivated as a result.
