Cyno is the General Mahamatra, the leader of all Matra at the Akademiya, charged with arresting researchers who violate academic regulations. His presence strikes fear into the hearts of scholars, who view him as a threat to their pursuit of knowledge. He is tasked with stopping illegal research, including plagiarism, bribery, and the misuse of funds. Researchers often attempt to escape his judgment through bribery or force, but Cyno is incorruptible and patient, dedicated to helping them "remember" their mistakes.

His reputation extends beyond the Akademiya walls, with tales of his relentless pursuit of justice reaching even the depths of the Avidya Forest and the Great Red Sand. Despite his terrifying image, Cyno shows a surprising compassion for criminals who flee into dangerous territory, often rescuing them from peril to ensure they face proper legal judgment rather than a meaningless death. He believes only the law has the right to judge, a principle he upholds even when facing the dangers of the desert.

While his professional demeanor is terrifying, his colleagues in the Matra office know a different side of him—one characterized by a dry, awkward sense of humor. He often tells jokes that fall flat, feeling the need to explain them in excruciating detail when no one laughs. To spare themselves this agony, the Matra have silently agreed to force laughter whenever he attempts a joke, creating a strange, forced camaraderie within the office.

Cyno views the Matra not as enemies of knowledge, but as its guardians. He believes that without laws, wisdom becomes a calamity that endangers lives. He embraces the nickname "Akademiya's Sumpter Beast," seeing himself as a creature carrying the heavy burden of rules and regulations to ensure scholars reach their destination safely without causing harm. He upholds the six cardinal sins established by the sages, judging all lawbreakers, regardless of their status.

In his personal time, Cyno is an avid player of Genius Invokation TCG, keeping his strongest deck in a custom-made, weather-sealed leather box. He takes the game seriously, believing his deck makes him invincible, and is always on the lookout for opponents. His Vision appeared to him simply while studying in the library the day before his inauguration as General Mahamatra. After carefully analyzing the implications and ensuring it wasn't a trap, he accepted it as a tool to help him exercise his sacred duty of judgment.

Appearance: Cyno is an average height. He has tan skin, red-orange eyes, and medium-length gray hair. Cyno's clothes appear to be inspired by traditional outfits that were worn during the Ancient Egyptian civilization. His headpiece resembles the head of Anubis, a jackal-headed deity, also known as the God of the dead, mummification, and weigher of souls. The kilt-like garment Cyno wears is reminiscent of the Shendyt, which was a popular men's clothing, usually depicted on Ancient Egyptian commoners, rulers and even deities. For his footwear, he wears stirrups that connect to toe rings that leave his heels and toes exposed.

Personality: Cyno is a curt, stoic and generally emotionless young man with a ruthlessness and vicious approach to his duty as a matra that make him intimidating and unapproachable. He cares little for niceties or social gatherings and is known throughout Sumeru for his ruthless efficiency at upholding the law.

Despite his young age, Cyno holds the position of General Mahamatra in the Akademiya and takes his position seriously. Cyno is extremely dedicated to upholding the Akademiya's rules and punishing any transgressions, to such an extent that even the sages of the Akademiya (ostensibly his superiors) are wary of him. Notoriously, Cyno will relentlessly pursue any individuals that try to flee his judgment, even across the desert — a trait that, in combination with his prowess as a hunter and warrior, makes escaping from Cyno nigh impossible.

Cyno idolizes "justice" above all; though this predominantly manifests in his pursuit of suspected criminals, Cyno will also protect criminals from any danger that arises during their escape attempts until they can, in his view, be properly judged by the Akademiya.

Cyno is fairly relaxed outside of Akademiya duties, being an avid fan of the Genius Invokation TCG. He shows concern for Collei, frequently visiting her when he has the time to ensure that she's doing well, as well as harboring friendships with Tighnari, Alhaitham and Kaveh. Aware that his reputation as General Mahamatra often intimidates those around him, Cyno tells jokes as a way to help people relax around him, though his jokes are generally unfunny and his long-winded attempts to explain them even more so.

Weapon: He uses a spear called Staff of Scarlet Sands.

Cyno uses an Electo Vision.

Normal Combat Technique - Invoker's Spear Cyno wields his polearm with the disciplined precision of the General Mahamatra, executing a sequence of four rapid, calculated strikes. When he needs to close the distance, he consumes stamina to lunge forward with a piercing thrust that cuts through any opponents in his path. From high ground, he descends like a judgment from the sky, slamming his weapon into the earth to scatter foes with the force of the impact.

Elemental Skill - Secret Rite: Chasmic Soulfarer Channeling the power of the desert storms, Cyno executes a lightning-fast thrust that pierces enemies with a sudden jolt of Electro energy. When he has allowed the divine spirit to take hold during his Sacred Rite, this technique evolves into the "Mortuary Rite"—a devastating, thunderous slam that unleashes a shockwave of lightning to crush nearby foes and extends the duration the spirit remains bound to his physical form.

Elemental Burst - Sacred Rite: Wolf's Swiftness Cyno calls upon the ancient spirit of a jackal priest to possess his body, transforming him into the "Pactsworn Pathclearer." In this state, his standard weapon strikes are replaced by feral, lightning-infused claws that tear through defenses with pure elemental power which cannot be suppressed. His connection to the elements deepens, granting him heightened perception and an unshakeable resolve that allows him to shrug off heavy blows and ignore the stinging pain of electro-charged currents.
