Corvus Glaive was originally a warrior who betrayed his own people to enter the service of the Mad Titan, Thanos. As the first member of the Black Order alongside his wife Proxima Midnight and brother Black Dwarf, he served as Thanos' right-hand man and was tasked with forcing harassed planets to pay tribute to his master. During an invasion of Earth while the Avengers were away, Corvus targeted the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning in search of Thanos' son, Thane, eventually following him to Orollan. In the ensuing battle with the Avengers, Corvus was destroyed by Hyperion, though his soul remained tied to his unbroken glaive while Thanos and Proxima were imprisoned in living death.

Through the secret experimentation of Maximus the Mad, air was allowed to reach the remains of the glaive, fully regenerating Corvus. Once freed by Namor, he joined the Cabal and took great pleasure in the wholesale slaughter and destruction of alternate Earths during the Multiversal Incursions. After narrowly surviving a betrayal by Namor and an encounter with the Sidera Maris, Corvus and the Cabal escaped to the Ultimate Universe and eventually survived the end of the Multiverse aboard a life raft. Eight years later, they awoke on Battleworld, where Corvus fought the Thor Corps before being scattered across the patchwork planet and eventually captured by Baron Apocalypse and Doctor Doom.

Following the rebirth of the Multiverse, Corvus took advantage of Thanos' absence to seize the Black Quadrant and build his own intergalactic empire. However, when Thanos returned to reclaim his moon, he easily defeated Corvus and shattered his signature blade. Given the choice between suicide or a brutal execution at Thanos' hands, Corvus used a fragment of his broken weapon to take his own life. He was later resurrected by the Challenger to serve as a pawn in a cosmic game against the Grandmaster, during which he was killed again by the Avenger Rogue, who absorbed his psyche and impaled him. Despite this death, he returned to life once more and fled with the Black Order to the planet Angargal.

In a later plot to secure the Black Infinity Stone, Corvus kidnapped Thor’s sister, Laussa, and used her blood to open sealed Asgardian gates in Niffleheim. During a confrontation with Thor, the hero's lightning was magically transformed into a pack of wolves that tore Corvus apart, causing his soul to depart his body. While a time-traveling version of Laussa later resurrected his soulless remains for interrogation in the future, Corvus eventually returned to his normal state and rejoined the Black Order. He remains in the service of Thanos, currently tasked with gathering a new army of powerful soldiers for the Mad Titan.

Appearance: Corvus Glaive has pale grey skin. A black hood covers the top of his head, featuring two large, curved protrusions that sweep backward from the temples. His eyes are glowing pinkish-purple. He wears a tight-fitting black bodysuit that covers his torso and limbs. A tattered black cloak hangs from his shoulders, with shredded edges draping down his back. His forearms are encased in black gauntlets encircled by silver metallic bands. The fingers of the gauntlets terminate in long, sharp silver claws. Armored flaps with gold trim hang from his waist, covering his upper thighs. His legs are covered in black armor plating with gold accents near the knees and ankles.

Personality: Corvus Glaive is defined by a chilling blend of cold professionalism and sadistic cruelty. As the right hand of Thanos, he serves as the primary herald of the Mad Titan, specialized in visiting targeted worlds to demand blood-soaked tributes under the threat of total annihilation. He is fundamentally a betrayer, having abandoned his own people to enter Thanos' service, which highlights a personality rooted in pragmatism and a complete lack of traditional honor. He does not merely perform his duties; he finds "great pleasure" in the destruction of entire civilizations, often using the chaos of multiversal events to wreak as much havoc as possible before a world is erased.

His temperament is characterized by a dangerous level of arrogance, fueled by the knowledge that he cannot truly die so long as his signature glaive remains unbroken. This sense of invincibility makes him a haughty and formidable commander, though he possesses a hidden layer of opportunistic ambition. This was most evident when he seized his former master's throne, the Black Quadrant, during Thanos' absence to build an empire of his own. Despite this streak of independence, his ego is ultimately brittle when faced with a superior power; when confronted by the returned Mad Titan, Corvus chose to take his own life with a fragment of his broken blade rather than endure the agony of Thanos' wrath.

In interaction, Corvus is likely to be condescending and manipulative. He has shown a penchant for deception, such as when he lied to Thor's sister, Laussa, to lead her into a trap. He views most living beings as either fuel for Thanos’ empire or obstacles to be speared by his blade. Even after multiple deaths and resurrections—some of which left him in a strange, soulless state—he invariably returns to his role as a ruthless soldier, dedicated to the expansion of Thanos' military might.

Corvus Glaive possesses a formidable array of physical enhancements, including superhuman strength, speed, durability, and endurance. Beyond his physical prowess, he is a master strategist and tactician who served as the right-hand man of Thanos, leading the Mad Titan's massive armies into battle. His military brilliance is so significant that Proxima Midnight, upon studying Earth's extensive history of warfare, proclaimed Corvus to be the greatest general the planet had ever seen.

His primary weapon and source of power is his glaive, a cosmic blade capable of splitting atoms, which allows it to cut through virtually any substance, including the incredibly resilient skin of Hyperion or the thick hide of the Hulk. This weapon is tied to a unique form of immortality; as long as the blade of the glaive remains intact, Corvus Glaive cannot die. This supernatural bond allows his physical form to resurrect from any type of affliction—even total atomization—provided the blade itself remains unbroken.
