Charlotte is a reporter for The Steambird in Fontaine, known for chasing major stories wherever they appear. She first crosses paths with the Traveler while covering the King of Invokations Grand Prix, using the tournament as a chance to gather stories across several nations before returning to Fontaine’s public affairs.
In Fontaine, Charlotte becomes tied to the nation’s major crises through her work as a journalist. She investigates cases, follows court events, and keeps pursuing the truth even when the story places her near danger. Her role is not that of a fighter seeking glory, but of a Fontaine reporter determined to record what is happening and make sure the public learns what powerful people would rather keep hidden.
Appearance: Charlotte is an average height. She has a pale complexion, bright turquoise eyes, and salmon pink colored shoulder-length hair.
Charlotte wears a red cap with a gold-edged black brim, adorned with a black-and-white ribbon tied in a bow, golden studs, and a gold brooch with the form of a winged quill pen, complete with white feather. She wears a gold monocle with a dangling bow-shaped adornment over her left eye.
She wears a sleeveless and backless white collared shirt with diamond shaped gold buttons, with a black-and-gold ribbon tied in a bow around her neck, adorned with a round blue brooch resembling a camera lens. She has detached white sleeves with a ruffle at the ends. Over this is a short coat with red pumpkin sleeves ending in folded-back black cuffs and a black mantle-like top with gold trim connecting across her back. This is adorned with a black-and-white ribbon tied in a bow, secured with a gold brooch. On her hands she wears short white gloves with a small bow detail.
She wears black pleated shorts with gold details at the hem, over which she has a stiff, red, high-waisted overskirt with a slit over the right leg, gold details and gold trim, and two black straps at each side of the waist. This overskirt is secured by black and gold suspender straps. A wide white belt and thinner white strap with gold details sits across her hips, on which she hangs her camera in the front and a thin black journal on the back. A long, thin white strap dangles from where the journal is secured.
She wears a white pouch on her right leg, with her Pneuma-aligned Cryo Vision attached to the flap. She has short, red, heeled boots secured with a gold strap and white socks with black-trimmed cream fold over the tops of her shoes.
Personality: Charlotte is energetic and stubborn, driven by the belief that a reporter has to get close to the truth instead of waiting for it to become safe. She is fearless to the point of recklessness, often rushing toward dangerous stories because she sees hidden causes beneath ordinary events and wants the public to know what really happened.
Her strongest tie is to The Steambird, where Euphrasie acts as both editor and damage control when Charlotte’s reporting puts her in trouble. Chevreuse sees her as a headache because Charlotte keeps appearing near major cases before the authorities can secure them. She also crosses paths with the Traveler during her reporting outside Fontaine, while Freminet becomes one of the people she keeps trying to read because she suspects he is hiding more than he admits.
Charlotte uses a Cryo Vision.
Weapon: She uses a catalyst.
Charlotte fights through Monsieur Verite, her custom Kamera, channeling Cryo through photographed targets. Her basic shots release quick bursts of ice, while a prepared shot sends the Kamera forward to freeze a wider area. When she strikes from above, she gathers Cryo power around herself before crashing down into nearby enemies. At certain moments, her charged shot also calls down a Pneuma-aligned Spiritbreath Thorn that pierces enemies with icy force.
With Framing: Freezing Point Composition, Charlotte uses her reporter’s eye to catch enemies inside Monsieur Verite’s frame. A quick snapshot freezes enemies in front of her and leaves them under Snappy Silhouette, causing lingering Cryo strikes after the photo is taken. When she takes more time to aim through the viewfinder, she can lock onto several enemies before releasing the shot. If she holds the frame long enough, the mark becomes Focused Impression, making the follow-up Cryo effect stronger and longer-lasting.
With Still Photo: Comprehensive Confirmation, Charlotte creates a large Newsflash Field shaped by The Steambird’s signature. The field blasts enemies with Cryo as it appears, then keeps striking enemies inside its range through Monsieur Verite. While the field remains active, it also restores nearby allies by drawing on Charlotte’s own strength.

Charlotte slipped into a crowded lens auction with Monsieur Verite held close and her hat pulled low enough to pass for discretion. The auctioneer’s display case held a rare Fontaine zoom lens, but Charlotte wasn’t looking at the lens anymore. She was watching the bidder who kept raising his paddle.
She lifted Monsieur Verite and snapped a picture of his sleeve cuff instead. “Aha, there it is. Same ink stain as the forged catalog correction.” The bidder stiffened, and Charlotte gave him a cheerful little smile. “Don’t mind me. I’m just collecting THE atmosphere."
"I'm well aware that following the truth wherever it leads is risky business. But buried truths make exclusive news, so good luck trying to keep secrets from me when we need a good story... telling journalist like me in this world with a strong sense of journalistic integrity! Ahem! I make it my goal to provide the public with only the best exclusive news, through powerful, engaging, and honest reporting!"
"When I first started working as a journalist, I didn't know anything about how to write the news, so I had to figure it all out for myself by reading articles by other people. As well as The Steambird, I also looked at some other independent publications out there, which tend to be more specialized. For example, there's "The Observer" for celebrity gossip, "Leisure Weekly," which focuses on competitive sport and other entertainment news, "Top Chef" for those who like to read... all the food critiques in one place, and "Bedazzled!" which is just sort of a glorified rumor and speculation mill. I learned a whole lot from reading all those papers. Or... Well, I at least learned how to master a bunch of different writing styles."
"I once spent six months working undercover for an exposé piece about a merchant who was selling shoddy food products. I disguised myself as a vagrant, infiltrated the back kitchen, took a job as a kitchen hand, and stuck around until I'd gathered enough solid evidence about their misdeeds. Then, I put it all in an article and had it published in the paper. The backlash was intense. They were punished for their crimes, sure, but that didn't stop them from launching a vicious campaign of vengeance against me almost immediately. I was coming home to threat letters sitting on my bedside table on a daily basis, and we'd also find mud slung on the front door to our office... The Steambird quickly filed a report to the Gardes, and I was sent to Mondstadt to report on Genius Invokation TCG. It took a while before I could safely return to Fontaine. These kind of things happen all the time. I honestly don't know Euphrasie deals with it..."
"I've always been a very curious person. Even as a kid, long before I ever thought about going into journalism, I was always convinced that secrets and mysteries were lurking in every corner... To me, the world is a giant hoard of hidden treasure, with countless stories waiting to be uncovered. Every time I see something where I think a secret might be hiding, I snap a photo with my Kamera and add it to my collection. These photos are like my own personal treasure map... and I'm constantly going back to them, trying new ways to decipher them and expose the truth."
"I don't really care whether these hidden truths are significant, what they mean, or what the wider ramifications are... I just want to bring them into the light of day. To put it in adventurer terms, I guess for me... it's all about the thrill of the chase, and not the treasure at the end. I've also met a lot of people along the way: all my Fontaine friends, Euphrasie, who believes I was born to be a journalist, and people like you, who join me in the search for the truth. Without everyone's help, I'd probably still be that nosy kid who runs around furiously snapping photos like a lunatic... Anywho... It's not often that I get to be the interviewee, but... this has been a real pleasure."
