Denki Kaminari, the hero student known as Chargebolt, entered U.A. High School’s Class 1-A with an electricity-generating Quirk powerful enough to incapacitate large groups at once. During the villain attack at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, he was separated with Kyoka Jiro and Momo Yaoyorozu and used a massive electrical discharge against the surrounding villains. The attack worked, but pushing his Quirk too far temporarily left him mentally impaired and unable to fight effectively. He later competed in the U.A. Sports Festival, advancing through the preliminary events before losing his tournament match to Ibara Shiozaki, whose vines grounded his electricity and neutralized him almost immediately.

Kaminari continued training to overcome the lack of precision that made his Quirk dangerous to use around allies. During the forest training period, he worked on increasing his output and control while preparing for more demanding combat situations. He later took part in the Provisional Hero License Exam, where he used newly developed support equipment to direct his electricity toward specific targets rather than releasing it indiscriminately. That increased precision allowed him to fight much more effectively in a crowded battlefield, and he successfully earned his provisional license. By the time of U.A.’s School Festival, Kaminari had become more comfortable using his abilities as part of coordinated team efforts rather than relying only on raw electrical output. He joined Class 1-A’s performance as part of the band and continued balancing ordinary school life with hero training.

Appearance: Chargebolt has fair peach skin and a lean, athletic build with narrow hips, long limbs, and a lightly defined upper body. His eyes are golden amber with dark pupils. His hair is bright golden blond, short and extremely spiky, with thick uneven locks radiating outward around the crown and sides. A bold black lightning-shaped streak cuts through the hair near one side of his forehead. A long narrow communication earpiece rises beside his head, with a slim metallic antenna extending upward. He wears a black jacket with sharply raised lapels, white lightning-bolt trim along the front edges, fitted sleeves, and a slightly flared lower hem. Beneath it is a loose white shirt with layered angular folds and a broad V-shaped neckline.

His trousers are black and fitted through the hips and thighs, loosening slightly through the lower legs, with a continuous white stripe running down the outer side of each leg. The waistband sits low beneath the hem of the shirt, and the fabric gathers in several sharp folds around the knees and ankles. His footwear consists of dark brown ankle boots with rounded toes, low heels, and simple smooth uppers.

Personality: Kaminari is outgoing, playful, sociable, and easily distracted. He likes joking with classmates, trying to impress girls, and avoiding serious academic work whenever possible, which contributes to his reputation as one of Class 1-A’s weaker students academically. His easygoing behavior can make him appear unreliable, but dangerous situations repeatedly show that he is willing to put himself at risk for other people. Kaminari is also aware of his own weaknesses and becomes frustrated when his lack of control makes him a liability, giving him genuine motivation to improve rather than remain dependent on overwhelming bursts of electricity.

Kyoka Jiro is one of Kaminari’s closest classmates, and their friendship is built around constant teasing, arguments, and comfortable familiarity. He frequently spends time with Eijiro Kirishima and Hanta Sero, sharing their more casual social energy within Class 1-A. Momo Yaoyorozu and Jiro fight beside him during the USJ attack, where his inability to control his large-area discharge becomes particularly obvious. Kaminari generally gets along well with the rest of Class 1-A, and despite his occasional cowardice or joking attitude, his classmates come to trust him when combat demands that he take a situation seriously.

Kaminari’s Quirk, Electrification, allows him to generate and discharge large quantities of electricity from his body. He can release electricity in every direction to incapacitate multiple nearby enemies or channel it through physical contact for a more concentrated shock. His greatest early limitation is that excessive output overloads his brain, temporarily leaving him dazed and unable to think or communicate normally.

To overcome his poor natural precision, Kaminari uses the Sharpshooting Gear, which includes specialized pointers that can be fired and attached to targets. Once a pointer is placed, he can direct his electricity toward it, allowing him to strike specific opponents without shocking everyone nearby. This greatly expands his usefulness in team combat and lets him employ the raw power of Electrification with much greater control.
