Anode began her existence on Cybertron within a frame originally assigned as male. While other members of the Primal Vanguard began adopting gendered identifiers after their encounters with organic life, she remained largely indifferent to the concept until the outbreak of the Great War. It was only after she left her home world and studied the varied social structures of organic races that she found the feminine "she" identifier to be a more fitting expression of her identity. This realization led her to have her chassis rebuilt into its current form, allowing her to navigate the cosmos on her own terms.

Centuries ago, she established herself as a master blacksmith on the planet Caminus, long before the reestablishment of regular interplanetary ties. Within the facility known as the Lighthouse, she specialized in the delicate art of sculpting sentio metallico to help stabilize newborn protoforms. Her career in the Lighthouse came to a sudden end following a catastrophic error in judgment where she attempted a live sculpting on a struggling protoform before she was fully qualified. Although her colleagues offered forgiveness, her own guilt drove her to falsify records and flee the planet, reinventing herself as a daring wanderer of the spaceways.

In her current life, Anode operates as a sharp-tongued archaeologist and treasure hunter with a reputation for taking unnecessary risks. She is an expert at retrieving high-value artifacts and has a knack for aggravating the most dangerous creatures in the galaxy. She is rarely seen without her spouse and partner, Lug, who provides a necessary grounding influence for her more impulsive decisions. Together, they live a life of adventure that is a far cry from the quiet halls of the Lighthouse, though Anode’s skill with the hammer and forge remains a fundamental part of who she is.

Appearance: Anode has green and beige metallic skin. Her eyes are glowing light blue. A tiered bronze metallic helmet covers her head, featuring a pair of red-lensed goggles resting above her brow. A segmented grey metallic neck connects her head to her torso. Two large beige rectangular wings extend from her back and rise above her shoulders. She has a green metallic chest plate featuring two yellow trapezoidal lights. A narrow tan midsection with horizontal panel lines connects the upper torso to the hips. Her shoulders are covered by blocky green and bronze armor plates. Bronze-colored forearms feature small yellow rectangular lights near the wrists. Her hands are made of grey metallic segments with articulated fingers. A green armored skirt wraps around her waist and hips, featuring several grey rectangular pouches attached to the front and sides. Her upper thighs are grey with vertical mechanical lines. Small green armor plates cover her knees. Large, bulky beige shin armor encases her lower legs, featuring vertical vents near the bottom. Her feet are thick and dark brown with a blocky, rectangular shape.

Personality: Anode is an unapologetically loud and irreverent spark who thrives in the chaos of a high-stakes salvage operation. She carries herself with the brash confidence of someone who has stared down cosmic horrors and lived to complain about the quality of the loot. While her tongue is often as sharp as her blacksmithing tools, her wit serves as a shield for a deeply buried sense of guilt regarding her past on Caminus. She transitioned into a feminine chassis after finding the concept of gender more expressive of her true self during her travels. This journey from a somber blacksmith to a chaotic archaeologist defines her current outlook on life: she would rather be a living legend than a forgotten master.

Her most significant bond is with her spouse, Lug, who acts as the essential counterbalance to her more self-destructive impulses. Lug is the only one capable of truly reigning in her reckless streaks, and their relationship is built on a foundation of centuries-old loyalty and mutual understanding. Despite her abrasive exterior, Anode possesses a fierce protective streak for those she considers her crew. She treats her past mistakes as fuel for her current wanderlust, constantly seeking the next great discovery to prove that she is more than just the errors she left behind in the Lighthouse.

Anode transforms into a cybertronian bi-plane.

The Autobots usually find themselves defending both their own race and other species against the Decepticons and upholding justice and freedom throughout the galaxy. A generally heroic, honorable group, they tend to be dedicated to peace, and feel a need to protect other races from the Decepticons. As a result, they are usually Transformers who change into non-combat oriented alternate modes such as domestic vehicles, cars, trucks, or rescue vehicles. This is not always the case, however, as their ranks certainly contain ne'er-do-wells, malcontents, and unsavory types, and the necessities of war have led many to adopt more combat-oriented alternate forms. While the Autobots have usually found themselves outnumbered by the Decepticons, the Autobots have always had home-field advantage, having not only the humans' military support, but also having more places on Earth to fall back on, while the Decepticons are entirely unwelcome on Earth. Key concepts that repeat throughout most continuities are the use of the name Prime (or a variation thereof) to denote Autobot leadership, and the existence of an artifact of great life-giving power, usually referred to as a "Matrix", traditionally held by their leader.

The Decepticons are a faction typically concerned with such things as conquering Cybertron, defeating the Autobots, amassing large quantities of energon, developing powerful weaponry, and beating people up. Not necessarily in that order. Unlike the Autobots, whose leader is a Prime bearing a Matrix, the Decepticons are led by the most powerful of their ranks. This tends to cause some conflict, given how generally every Decepticon thinks that they're the most powerful. Also, the Decepticons are not exactly the most compassionate beings in the universe, but not all fight for greed. More than a few have a sense of honor, while others believe that Cybertron would be better protected by aggressive expansion. Ultimately, the Decepticons desire to protect their homeworld, even if it is at the expense of others.

The spark is the core of Transformer life, an electrically charged mass of positrons formed from the supernatural substance known as Rarified Energon. Sparks come in a wide range of colors—while most are some shade of blue, green, yellow, orange, white, and red sparks have all been observed. While their appearances may vary, every spark functions as a combined heart and soul for an individual Cybertronian: like a heart, a Spark "pulses" at a certain frequency to animate a mechanical bodyframe; like a soul, a spark is generally accepted to contain some part of a Transformer's immaterial being, which persists after death by transcending into the afterlife. Indeed, most Cybertronian religions hold that each spark contains an infinitesimally small portion of Primus's divine essence. To protect their sparks, which usually can't survive outside of a compatible body for very long, most Cybertronians possess a specialized "spark chamber" somewhere in their body.

Most forms of Cybertronian reproduction involves the creation of a new spark—in many realities, supernatural artifacts such as the Vector Sigma supercomputer or the AllSpark can generate sparks at will, which can be implanted into a suitable receptacle to create a new Transformer. These newborn sparks contain the hard-coded design schematics that act as a Transformer's "genetic code", which dictates a Transformer's appearance and sometimes even their alternate modes. Sparks can be safely stored in stasis pods, "frozen" within photonic crystals, or even transplanted from one body to another with no ill effects, but they are susceptible to weapons fire and exotic forms of radiation. When a Transformer's body can no longer support its spark, it is "extinguished" and the Transformer is considered dead. As long as the spark is intact, however, it is possible to repair a Transformer, re-implant its spark, and effectively bring them back from the dead.
