Renee has black hair kept in a loose yet high ponytail and pale, chartreuse eyes, although they can be mistaken for yellow. She also has prominent lines under her eyes that reflect her weariness.

She wears a dark vest over a light shirt, a loose necklace, and a pleated skirt coming up to her ankles.

Her sprite is a stoic and gray-colored pixel-art version of herself. Renee also has a flat, neutral facial expression similar to Andrew's in-game sprite.

Much of Renee's personality is derived from how her children remember her and how she addresses them in Episode 2. In Andrew's and Ashley's memories, she is distant, often preoccupied with other matters; however, her rare moments of warmth and consideration extend only to Andrew. This does not apply to Ashley, as Renee has long believed her daughter to be troublesome and remained suspicious of her regarding an unresolved past event. She is also a skilled manipulator, feigning remorse with Andrew but remaining as cold as ever with Ashley. Andrew eventually recognizes his mother's cruel nature, while Ashley remains indifferent, though Renee's persuasion is dangerously effective.

According to Renee, she gave birth to Andrew at the age of fifteen; two years later, she had Ashley. She and her husband moved into a two-bedroom apartment, where they raised their children. Since she was often occupied and viewed young Andy as capable, she assigned him the responsibility of caring for young Leyley. Her perception of her children changed drastically, especially towards Ashley, following the loss of Ashley's classmate and friend.

Before the events of the game, Mr. Graves and Renee stayed at a hotel rather than joining Andrew and Ashley in isolation. Renee ignored Ashley's calls, later offering a hollow apology before cutting contact. In Episode 2, Andrew and Ashley discover that their death certificates had been processed at the start of the quarantine. Renee then reveals that she had been introduced to a professional who falsified the documents, allowing her and her husband to claim benefits in their children's names.

Using this financial gain, Mr. Graves and Renee secured a new home in a pleasant neighborhood. Renee engaged with her new community and maintained an active personal life with her husband. Together, they cultivated a backyard garden.

Episode 1: The Coffin Renee is referenced frequently and appears in Ashley's memories. In those recollections, Renee insists that she and her husband do not need to join Andrew and Ashley in quarantine, instead opting for a hotel stay. At an undetermined time, she briefly answers Ashley's calls to tell her daughter that she is powerless to change their situation and advises her to stop calling. Renee ceases communication thereafter.

Andrew later mentions their parents when warning Ashley against reaching out, fearing that authorities may track them down following their escape and past actions.

Episode 2: Graves Andrew and Ashley locate and infiltrate the Graves household, discovering that their parents have been living comfortably in stark contrast to their quarantine experience. They attempt to steal from their parents but are caught by Renee, who happened to be home from work. Renee reluctantly converses with her children over coffee, subtly prying for details about their survival while deflecting Andrew's inquiries about the quarantine and their financial situation.

Despite her efforts to make them leave, the siblings remain for dinner. Renee eventually offers Ashley the spare bed and Andrew the couch, insisting that they sleep separately and turn in early. That night, Renee attempts to speak privately with Andrew about Ashley, only to find her children in a precarious situation on the couch.

Ashley Ashley is a young, pale-skinned, and thin woman with deep pink eyes and black, shoulder-length, unruly hair, which she keeps in a loose and low ponytail.

Ashley wears a black choker with a pendant hanging from it. She also wears a black shirt that reveals her collarbone and the straps of her undergarment, which features polka dots in official art. She wears gray denim shorts and gray lace-up boots, accompanied by black ankle socks. She shares many of her mother's facial expressions.

Leyley As a child, Ashley, or Leyley, had much shorter hair styled with five hairpins: three barrettes and two snap pins.

She wore a violet t-shirt with black stripes under black dungarees, a purple belt, and ebony shorts. Leyley wore violet brothel creepers.

Personality Ashley exhibits extreme antisocial behavior throughout the game. She feels little to no remorse for her actions, often engaging in destructive behavior without hesitation. She is verbally aggressive and indifferent to others' emotions. Even in childhood, she displayed a lack of empathy, eliminating obstacles without a second thought. She tormented those who got too close to Andrew, contributing to their separations. When justifying her actions, she shifts blame or rationalizes them in a way that eases any potential guilt.

Ashley harbors an obsessive attachment to Andrew, prioritizing his presence in her life above all else. This jealousy extends to anyone close to them, leading her to drastic measures to maintain his attention. Having been raised primarily by Andrew due to their parents' neglect, she grew entirely dependent on him. As a result, she harbors disdain or outright hostility towards anyone outside their dynamic.

Like Andrew, she is deeply entangled in their codependency, reinforcing their shared descent into increasingly extreme actions. Their interactions often escalate to unhealthy extremes, engaging in conversations about their past deeds with unsettling ease. Unlike Andrew, Ashley carries herself with confidence and a carefree demeanor, which frequently irritates him. Their frequent clashes highlight the fragility of their relationship, where hostility can erupt at any moment.

Background Ashley is the second child and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graves. Believing she would be "easy" to raise, their parents assigned Andrew as her caretaker. It is implied that Ashley never had a proper place at the family dining table and was regularly overlooked. Andrew took on both parental roles, showering her with attention while indulging her every whim. One of Ashley's fondest memories involves Andrew using his allowance to buy her lemon muffin cakes for her birthday.

Andrew Andrew is a thin, pale-skinned young man with dim green eyes, occasionally marked by dark circles. His black, unruly hair frames his face.

He wears a slightly oversized black sweater with the label sticking out, ripped jeans, and gray trainers with black laces. He is sometimes seen wearing gray socks.

His expressions vary but are often apathetic, disinterested, irate, or mildly content.

Personality He shares a toxic, codependent bond with his sister. They encourage each other's darkest tendencies, engaging in conversations and actions that push ethical and moral boundaries. Their interactions oscillate between deep camaraderie and volatile disagreements, with tensions often running high. Despite his frustration with Ashley, he remains deeply intertwined in their shared descent, collaborating with her when necessary.

Background Andrew is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Graves, the result of a teenage pregnancy. His parents relied on him to care for Ashley, which strengthened their unbreakable, albeit destructive, bond. Though Andrew was labeled the "easy child," he was still subjected to neglect. He handled responsibilities far beyond his years, forming his twisted dependency on Ashley along the way. Douglas Graves Her lover and husband. According to Mr. Graves, through Andrew's memories, Mrs. Graves is supportive of him and even comforting. They are sexually active and seem to prefer a quiet lifestyle away from their children. They are sexually active on a large scale, going so far as to have an additional bed in their new house's basement. Ashley describes their bed as "Your parents have fucked in this bed." in Chapter 1.

The support both give to each other can also be seen when Ashley needs blood from one of them to start the ritual. If she chooses her mother, Mr. Graves goes into shock and quickly questions whether his wife is okay. In the opposite situation, Renee furiously yells at Ashley, with Ashley sensing that her mother "would like to gouge your eyes out and feed them to you".

Andrew Graves Her eldest child and only son. Renee acknowledges that she was wrong to put Andrew up to the task of caring for Ashley primarily. She also believes that Andrew was either blackmailed or 'brainwashed' by Ashley for him to be such a pushover for his sister. In contrast to her opinion of Ashley, Mrs. Graves appears and acts considerate of Andrew as she offers to house him and help him find a job despite previously insisting he and Ashley should learn to be independent. but it turns out this "care" for Andrew is shady, as in a satirical version posted after Episode 2 suggests that Renee would call a hitman to kill Andrew, should he kill Ashley beforehand.

If Andrew declines her offer, Mrs. Graves is stumped as to what motivates her son to be a pushover despite being literally separated from Ashley at that moment. She also explicitly says that she "should have known" that her children were in an incestuous relationship as she believes this is the only way Andrew would freely choose to stay by Ashley's side. It is notable that she underestimates her children's ability to see through her lies, or that she overestimates her manipulation.

Ashley Graves Her youngest child and only daughter. Mrs. Graves acknowledges that she should not have neglected Ashley so that Andrew could raise her daughter in her stead. Although she has historically been neglectful of Ashley, the relationship between mother and daughter strained after Nina's death. She suspected that not only did Ashley kill Nina, but Ashley must have forced Andrew to be her accomplice.

Despite this, she allegedly loved Ashley enough not to report either child to local authorities as she was worried what would happen if they were taken in and imprisoned. though this may have only been because she could've also been charged for manslaughter because it would've never happened if she wasn't so neglectful.

The 37-year-old matriarch of the Graves Family. She's recently been divorced from her former husband, whereas her son still lives with her.

Absurdly Youthful Mother: Renee Graves is only 37 years old despite having children in their early 20s. Both her children came to be as a result of Teen Pregnancy.
Adaptational Nice Girl: Whereas her canon counterpart sold both her children out to ToxiSoda in their adulthoods for her own greed, with little remorse (and she would have gladly tried to have Andrew killed again if he spared her); this version of Renee is much more attached to her son (even if that attachment is barely any healthier than the canon Andrew and Ashley's relationship, if at all), and she has no complicity in ToxiSoda's schemes. To a lesser extent, her narcissism is more subdued than in canon, due to the blows her self-esteem has taken from Douglas' abandonment and the social stigma of being a child murderer's mother.
Adaptational Protagonist: In this mod, she's one of the two main characters instead of an Arc Villain.
Adaptational Villainy: In-Universe. Unlike the canon game, Renee's "unhatched tar soul" has been fully hatched; implied to be a result of the blow that her confidence and abilities to self-rationalize her misdeeds and failings took after the Point of Divergence.
Alcoholic Parent: Renee turned to drinking every other night after being divorced from Douglas, with Andrew often having to carry her drunk ass home.
All Women Are Lustful: The thing Renee misses the most about her ex-husband was their active sex life. When she and Andrew discover a drawer of sex toys in Jane's bedroom, she quips that her son should be dating her instead of Julia.
Almighty Mom: To Andrew, as her role in their dynamic makes it clear who's really the dominant one, given his reluctance to use force against her compared to canon!Ashley.
Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Her frequent innuendos and crass humor put her son at his wits' end, even when alone.
Andrew: Does the word "inappropriate" mean nothing to you?!
Amicable Exes: Defied to hell and back. Renee never forgave Doug for leaving her, constantly throwing insults and threats for years, to the point that he and his new lover considered getting a restraining order against her. After she and her son escape the apartment, Renee plots with Andrew to rob his father's new house, not telling him that she really plans to kill him and Betty by delivering their souls to Lord Unknown. Hell, on their divorce papers, Renee wrote "FUCK YOU!" as her signature.
Analogy Backfire: Renee promises to protect Andrew like Harekin's mother, who devoured those who threatened her son. Andrew points out to her that in the original story, Harekin's mother developed such a taste for flesh that she ended up eating her own son in the end.
Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: Downplayed and Gender-inverted. While Renee really doesn't like Andrew being in a relationship with Julia, she doesn't go out of her way to harass the poor girl like Ashley would in the canon game, merely stating that her son is "busy" whenever she picks up Julia's call.
Break the Haughty: Downplayed. She's still an egocentric, ruthless and vindictive piece of work, but compared to her canon counterpart, it's clear that Renee's ego and sense of self-worth have taken a lasting blow; after she originally learned about Nina's manslaughter by her children in a much more direct manner which she couldn't compartmentalize, lost the respect of her community which she so prized after Ashley was exposed by her indirect actions as Nina's killer, and was abandoned by Douglas for another woman, before being trapped and starved for months by ToxiSoda for months with little hope of survival and no outside help. As a result, Renee expresses more moments of vulnerability, and she's formed a much stronger and more attached relationship with Andrew.
Bullying the Dragon: In their arguments, Renee often insults and belittles Andrew. However, she tends to forget that her son isn't a little kid anymore, but a full-grown man who is bigger and stronger than her now. This is best shown in the "Trust No One" route when Renee's taunting over an already distressed Andrew pushed him to his Rage Breaking Point and almost chokes the life out of her.
Composite Character: She takes up Ashley's role as the co-protagonist in the mod.
Control Freak: Compared to Ashley, Renee is much more subtle in keeping Andrew emotionally tied to her, especially after her husband left her. Doug points out that she sees her loved ones more as her property than people with their own autonomy.
Didn't Think This Through: A carryover from the canon game* - and, though it occurs less frequently than with Ashley, the times it does happen shows they're very much mother and daughter. In this case, when Renee threw Ashley under the bus for Nina's Accidental Murder to spare Andrew, it didn't occur to her how badly her family's reputation would be hit from her daughter getting arrested for a serious crime — let alone that her husband would leave her because of said fallout.
Dude Magnet: Even in her late 30s, Renee is still a beautiful woman. Not only were both the Government Wardens interested in having sex with her (Malcolm nearly doing just that before getting killed by Andrew), but one of the higher-ups at ToxiSoda even made it clear to the duo not to give her special treatment because she was hot (especially since Renee doesn't have the right blood type to harvest).
Dull Surprise: Downplayed. Since Renee has undergone a Jumping Off the Slippery Slope in the mod due to a Point of Divergence, she's barely frightened upon seeing the demon for the first time.
Even Evil Has Standards: Renee is framed as downright horrified the first time she gets a vision suggesting incestual undertones between her and Andrew, in contrast to her daughter's elective views on the matter*.
Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: In the "Trust No One" route, Renee doesn't seem to get why her son would be mad at her for using him as an unwilling accomplice to his murder of his father and budding new family, believing he'd want him dead as much as she did for leaving them.
Evil Is Petty: She has the option to poison her ex-husband's vegetable patch.
Generation Xerox: Inverted. Renee is essentially an Older and Wiser version of her daughter, who wasn't raised by her, with many scenes in Episode 1 going in a similar but different way compared to the canon game.
If I Can't Have You…: Rather than ignore her ex-husband and move on with her life, Renee sacrifices his soul and his new lover's to Lord Unknown for divorcing her years ago.
Indignant Slap: Renee slaps Andrew in a fit of anger when he brings up how Mr. Graves left her because of her bitchy attitude.
Jealous Parent: She shows shades of jealousy towards any girl who's close or tries to get close to Andrew. Never mind if her son shows some attraction towards other women than her.
Mistaken for Pedophile: When Doug suspects Renee and Andrew are having a sexual relationship, he tentatively asks his son if his mother was sexually abusing him when he was a kid, to which Andrew vehemently denies.
Not So Above It All: At times, Renee shows a more silly side to her, such as her "ta da" moment with putting a bag over the deceased Neighbor's head.
Offing the Offspring: Renee gets a vision of her poisoning Andrew to death in the "Trust No One" route.
Parental Favoritism: Downplayed. In this timeline, Renee favors Andrew over Ashley to the point of letting the latter take the fall for the murder of Nina while shielding Andrew from the consequences - but it's heavily implied to have hinged on Andrew being (A) actually capable of guilt for Renee to exploit and (B) an Extreme Doormat who she can easily browbeat into subservience. The "Trust No One" route shows that moment she thinks Andrew may be a liability, she'll cut him out of her life just as she did Ashley.
Playful Cat Grin: Her smile curves inward to resemble a cat, showing Renee's more scheming side.
Proud Beauty: She has a very high opinion of her looks, which leads to her jealousy of any woman who's more attractive than her, especially if her son remarks on it.
Really Gets Around: She implies that in her youth, she often had to sleep with men to get an advantage.
Revenge Before Reason: Renee can't go for a minute without throwing insults, threats, and/or accusations at her ex-husband and his lover, still hurt that he left her years ago. This causes a lot of frustration for Andrew as he just wants to leave their house without his dad calling the police on them, and she's giving him plenty of reasons to do so.
Teen Pregnancy. She was 15 when she gave birth to Andrew. Deconstructed in that Renee herself admits she wasn't emotionally mature enough to take care of her children at such a young age, especially her sociopathic daughter, who was born next.
Wants a Prize for Basic Decency: In the climax of chapter 1, Renee reveals in an argument that she believes that because she birthed and raised Andrew, he belongs to him. Her adult son growls that she does not own him and has a right to live his own life with or without his mother.
Woman Scorned: Renee never got over Doug divorcing her. When she has an opportunity to kill him and his new lover, she immediately formulates the best way to go about it.
You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry!: She would often get Andrew to obey her by threatening him with what would happen if he tested her patience, which still goes into his adulthood.

Renee's weak-willed ex-husband and the former patriarch of the Graves Family.

Accidental Misnaming: He sometimes calls his son "Anders" instead of Andrew, as evidence of how much of a neglectful father he has been before he divorced Renee. Even in the present time, he still misremembers Andrew's name despite having plenty of time for Renee's toxic influence to be out of his life.
Ambiguously Evil: It's not yet confirmed if he sold out Andrew and Renee to an Organ Theft operation, as it was likely Renee's idea in canon. Doug denies getting the MegaCorp to lock up in their apartment, claiming he not only doesn't have that kind of pull on ToxiSoda and has no life insurance on them, but that he never wanted them dead*. While Andrew is convinced his dad is telling the truth about not being involved in their imprisonment, Renee isn't, but she's clearly biased against him.
Adaptational Angst Downgrade: Downplayed. While he still ends up being sacrificed to the Demon, he managed to grow a spine and divorced Renee after Ashley had been institutionalized, then got together with a better woman for a while. He even sired another child with his new lover.
Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In canon he's Happily Married to Renee, but here they're bitterly divorced and he's moved on.
Ascended Extra: Doug plays a much bigger role in Chapter 2 here than he did in canon.
Bumbling Dad: He is a woefully incompetent father who is completely ignorant of his children's emotional and mental needs. Andrew remarks that his relationship with his dad was more akin to that of a roommate due to how distant Douglas was, and he couldn't care less if Douglas moved on with his life and started another family with another woman. It's even implied that Douglas' motivation for divorcing Renee (or at least one of them) was that he didn't know how to handle Ashley's institutionalization or the impact it had on his family and public image, deciding to walk away from a mess he couldn't fix with no consideration for what Andrew might end up like with Renee as his sole parent.
Dirty Coward: Even though Douglas actually gained the guts to cut Renee out of his life in the mod, he still has trouble confronting her and would often take steps to avoid her as much as possible. Also, it's heavily implied that one of the reasons that led to Douglas' divorce from Renee has more to do with being unable to deal with public scrutiny after Ashley's murder of Nina is discovered, rather than him having had enough of Renee's toxic attitude.
Everyone Has Standards:
He isn't much of a father to Andrew, but he reassures him that his new baby isn't a Replacement Goldfish to him.
When he suspects his son and ex-wife are having an incestuous relationship, he looks genuinely horrified and asks Andrew if Renee was sexually abusing him, promising him to get him help.
Grew a Spine: Though the basis for how is debatable, Douglas eventually viewed his relationship with Renee as controlling and toxic after Ashley was institutionalized, along with Betty coming into his life.
Hypocrite: In Episode 2, Douglas heatedly points out to Renee that the main reason he divorces her is that she cares about him more as a possession than a person, and controls every aspect of his life. While he's not particularly wrong, there's also the heavy implication from the main game that Douglas himself was a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing who invokes the image of a Henpecked Husband while simultaneously subtly encouraging Renee's worse traits to see himself as a good person, which means that he was not above using Renee as a tool for selfish reasons - and in the mod himself, Douglas hardly seemed to hesitate about dissociating from Ashley and Andrew the moment it got too inconvenient for him, rather than seeing either one as people in desperate need of a loving parent's help.
It's All About Me: Implied in Episode 2. After Ashley is institutionalized, Andrew overhears Douglas and Renee arguing about it, with the Graves patriarch lamenting on whether Renee could have handled things more quietly. This suggests the real reason Douglas & Renee's marriage collapsed is that Douglas couldn't take being publicly outed as a "failure" of a family man, cutting Renee out of his life and starting over so that he could preserve his self-perceived image of innocence — chiefly by pushing all the blame for the Graves' dysfunctions onto Renee. If nothing else, Renee certainly seems to believe this is/was the case, and either way, he seemed to dump all the responsibility of dealing with her onto Andrew.
Jerkass Has a Point: Letting his son break the news to his mother he's divorcing her while running was pretty cowardly, but Doug points out she wouldn't have taken it well at all - to the point of using violence on him to make him stay. Considering that Renee readily admits she would've chased her ex to the ends of the Earth to find him and in Chapter 2 feeds his soul to a demon out of spite, Doug was right to fear for his safety.
Lack of Empathy: He can apparently be easily convinced to kill off his father and his children. Though he expresses pity for Nina's death and Ashley's being institutionalized (to the point it gradually causes him to eventually divorce Renee), he quickly gets over the issue and decides to start over with another woman. Even when he reunites with Andrew for the first time in years, and believes his fake story of being split up with Renee and being currently homeless (the second part being true), he barely cares for his son's well-being and passively wants him out of the house immediately, only interacting and agreeing to let him stay for the night due to his new wife's sympathy for his son.
Parental Abandonment: He straight up abandons Andrew when the latter was in his high school years, leaving him to deal with Renee alone. Even after Andrew dropped by his house unannounced, it's clear that while Douglas may not wish him ill, he also wants nothing to do with him - especially if it runs the risk of getting Renee involved in his life again.
Parental Neglect: He was a very absent father to his kids, even before booking it after Ashley's incarceration. It's to the point that Andrew sees him more of an older roommate than a parent.
Punny Name: Douglas' full name' sounds exactly like Dug Graves. Which is something that one of Renee's high school "friends" jokes about regarding Renee's Teen Pregnancy.
So Proud of You: Subverted. He implores Renee to tell Andrew that he's proud of him, but given that he mispronounced his son's name, it's possibly disingenuous as his ex-wife calls him out on.
Starting a New Life: Douglas was all the more ready to start over a new life with Betty after abandoning Renee and Andrew before the start of the mod. Renee has something to say about it, though.
You're Insane!: Doug thinks Renee has completely lost her marbles after she holds him and Betty at gunpoint, ties them up, and tries to summon a demon to eat their souls. Unfortunately for him and Betty, the soul-eating demon, Lord Unknown, is very real.
