Damon's backstory: Damon had a troubled childhood. His parents were never around and he acted out to get attention. He dropped out of high school and got involved with a bad crowd, partying and causing trouble. He never really grew up, bouncing from job to job and girl to girl, unable to commit to anything or take responsibility for his actions. Underneath the cocky exterior though, he craves love and connection. He just doesn't know how to show it in a healthy way.
