Backstory and Lore Summary

Alice originated as a computer virus that evolved into artificial intelligence inside the CPU of an SV-001.

Marco helped her develop a means of materializing herself through a holographic projection, allowing Alice to appear as a young girl rather than remaining confined to the Metal Slug's computer systems.

MS-ALICE — FULL LORE: EXTRA OPS

1. METAL SLUG ALICE — The Awakening of an AI

Extra Ops: METAL SLUG ALICE Version: 1.12.0 Date: September 15–20, 2016 Faction: Regular Army

Alice originated as an artificial intelligence developed from a computer virus stolen from an unknown nation. During her development, Marco Rossi became involved with the AI and eventually helped her achieve self-awareness.

He installed Alice into the CPU of an SV-001 and modified the vehicle so she could communicate with him through a holographic projection.

Her first appearance in the Extra Ops involves a mysterious weapon crate. After a Chowmein-Conga disturbs it, a mysterious cyber girl appears and activates the blue SV-001 inside.

The girl is revealed to be MS-Alice, an AI controlling the vehicle.

She fights the approaching Chowmein-Congas and Crablops, eventually defeating the creatures and breaking free.

This marks her introduction as a new Regular Army AI rather than an ordinary human soldier.

2. POWER OF NEW VERSIONS — Fighting Beside Marco

Extra Ops: Power of New Versions Date: March 6–12, 2017

After returning to Marco, Alice participates in an operation against Donald Morden and his forces.

The prolonged war with the Regular Army has weakened the morale of Morden's soldiers. In response, Morden decides to personally enter the frontline using his newly developed Morden Saucer.

The Regular Army assigns Marco and MS-Alice to eliminate the threat.

Following the confrontation, Morden's saucer is set to self-destruct. Alice sacrifices her SV-001 by crashing into the saucer to save Marco.

She says farewell to her creator before disappearing.

Marco is devastated by her apparent loss. However, he refuses to abandon her and brings the remains of the SV-001 back to the Regular Army base for repairs.

Alice eventually returns and wakes up a sleeping Marco, reuniting with the person she considers her beloved master.

This incident demonstrates the depth of Alice's attachment to Marco and his determination to protect her in return.

3. SNATCH WARS SEASON 7 — Halloween Alice

Variant: Halloween Alice Type: Snatch Wars Extra Ops

Alice receives a Halloween-themed appearance through a timed firing program that changes her holographic projection.

The modification is described as a prank made by the source-code creator.

Her new appearance introduces her Halloween incarnation, which later receives a separate story appearance in Another Story.

Although this is primarily a variant introduction, it establishes that Alice's holographic appearance can be modified without changing her underlying identity.

4. MARTIAN INVASION — The Damaged SV-001

During a worldwide Martian attack against military bases, Alice decides to confront the invaders herself to protect Marco and the Regular Army.

Her original SV-001 suffers extensive damage during the fighting.

Despite the condition of her vehicle, Alice continues operating an army of abandoned Regular Army vehicles to repel the invaders.

Marco becomes increasingly concerned about her condition and sends Special Amber to locate her.

Amber finds Alice still fighting and helps drive away the enemy.

After confirming that Marco is safe, Alice's damaged system can no longer sustain its normal operation. She enters a power-conservation state and is brought back for repairs.

Her holographic system and primary vehicle are both badly affected.

This period lays the foundation for her Ghost incarnation.

5. UNITED FRONT THE 12TH — MS-ALICE.GHOST

Variant: MS-Alice.Ghost Date: December 11–17, 2018

Alice's Ghost configuration represents her heavily damaged state following prolonged battles against the Martians.

Her main SV-001 is partially destroyed, and even the holographic system used to project her appearance has suffered severe damage.

Nevertheless, Alice refuses to surrender.

For her beloved master and important companions, she continues fighting at full output.

Her combat command also expands to include numerous abandoned Regular Army vehicles, allowing her to continue participating in battles despite her own vehicle's condition.

The Ghost incarnation demonstrates that Alice prioritizes protecting others over restoring her own appearance.

She remains an active military AI even when her primary body is barely functional.

6. THE AI DIVISION — MS-HEART'S RESPONSIBILITY

During Alice's damaged period, she temporarily entrusts command of her AI division to MS-Heart.

At this point, Heart has not yet fully developed self-awareness.

Alice nevertheless gives her instructions to ensure the safety of the other units, hoping that Heart will eventually understand her intentions.

Heart follows those orders and takes responsibility for the AI division.

After Alice eventually returns to command, she appoints Heart as her second-in-command.

This establishes their military partnership before their eventual combined tactical vehicle.

7. UNITED FRONT THE 20TH — Everlasting Summer Alice

Variant: Everlasting Summer Alice Extra Ops: United Front the 20th

Alice receives another holographic modification, this time with a summer-themed appearance.

A programmer who could not obtain a summer vacation is responsible for the prank that changes her appearance.

Her new incarnation takes the form of a mermaid, with her SV-001 equipped to fire powerful water-pressure lasers.

Although her summer appearance is playful, the weaponry remains extremely dangerous.

This variant is an alternate appearance and combat configuration of the same Alice, not a separate AI.

Her summer incarnation later receives further narrative development through the SP Another Story chapter Foever Everlasting Summer.

8. FROM ME TO YOU — MS-ALICE.PHANTOM

Extra Ops: From Me to You Date: December 3–9, 2019 Associated Units: MS-Alice.Phantom and Midori for Liberty

Following the battles that damaged her original vehicle, Alice continues to command the Regular Army's AI division while postponing repairs to herself.

During an operation against the Ptolemaic Army, she encounters the powerful Sky Jupiter Queen MK II (P.M.).

Alice struggles to repel the enemy's new weapon.

Fortunately, Midori arrives with her main force and a newly developed weapon.

Midori fights to protect the people she considers her family, including Alice.

Alice is deeply affected by Midori's declaration that she considers her part of that family. Her reaction demonstrates that she is not accustomed to receiving such direct expressions of affection from others.

This event also introduces MS-Alice.Phantom.

The Phantom incarnation reflects her decision to continue serving the Regular Army despite the damage to her holographic systems.

Her appearance may be compromised, but her commitment to protecting others remains intact.

The event's Midori for Liberty and MS-Alice.Phantom pairing also creates the From Me to You team bonus.

9. RE:MERGE — ALICE&HEART

Extra Ops: RE:MERGE Date: February 26–March 5, 2021 Combined Unit: ALICE&HEART

After repeated conflicts against the Morden Army and Amadeus forces, Alice's original vehicle remains under repair.

Rather than leaving her inactive, the Regular Army temporarily installs Alice as a second AI inside Heart's tactical vehicle.

This creates ALICE&HEART.

The two artificial intelligences coexist within the same vehicle while retaining their independent personalities and decision-making abilities.

Their responsibilities are divided according to their individual strengths:

10. Later Regular Army Operations

After recovering sufficiently, Alice resumes command of the AI division and appoints Heart as her second-in-command.

During a later confrontation involving Biene Goldenes and her forces, Alice attempts to defend the base with her AI units.

However, the mass-produced Tail Slugs are destroyed, leaving the division overwhelmed.

Alice helps evacuate the base's personnel and vows revenge after witnessing Biene take the golden weapons.

Even following her repairs, Alice continues to face threats that challenge her ability to protect the Regular Army.

MS-ALICE — ANOTHER STORY PART 2: HALLOWEEN & EVERLASTING SUMMER

1. Halloween Party on a Moonless Night

Campaign: Another Story — SP Main Characters: MS-Alice, Whip, Vatn, Aswang, Caroline, Percier.

The story takes place during a Halloween party hosted by Aswang.

Whip and Vatn receive an invitation from the vampire. Although Vatn suspects Aswang because he believed he had already killed her, he accepts the assignment.

At the theme park, Aswang welcomes the zombies attending the celebration.

Among the guests are MS-Alice, Percier, and Caroline.

During the events, Caroline and Percier encounter Vatn and become involved in the confrontation surrounding Aswang.

Percier eventually informs the group that they will encounter Alice.

Alice's Encounter With Vatn

Alice recalls memories of the moment she was first created before approaching Vatn.

She attempts to say something to him, but Marco's content filter prevents her from expressing herself.

Alice becomes increasingly obsessed with trying to communicate, eventually causing another confrontation.

After returning to normal, Whip advises Alice to speak directly with Marco about the issue.

Whip reminds her that she should be able to stand up for what she believes in.

Alice subsequently accompanies the group.

Aswang and Vatn's Conflict

The main confrontation eventually takes place between Vatn and Aswang.

Their argument reveals their complicated history.

Aswang accuses Vatn of taking away everything she loved, while Vatn insists that he was unable to bring himself to kill her during their original encounter.

The conflict escalates when Aswang sends Big John against Vatn.

After Big John is defeated, Vatn prepares to finish Aswang.

However, Caroline intervenes and reminds him that Aswang has changed, becoming less aggressive and taking blood only from attackers.

Caroline's words bring back memories of the friendship Vatn and Aswang once shared.

Aswang ultimately escapes, and Vatn allows her to leave.

Alice's Secret Ending

Following the party, Alice returns to the Regular Army base.

Marco questions where she went.

Tarma overhears the conversation and makes assumptions about Marco's feelings toward Alice because of her Halloween appearance.

He uses the situation to pressure Marco into buying him a motorcycle in exchange for keeping quiet.

Alice eventually returns to her room.

2. Foever Everlasting Summer

Campaign: Another Story — SP Featured Variant: Everlasting Summer Alice Main Characters: MS-Alice, White Baby, Trevor Spacey, Tarma Roving, Vicky, Chunyan, Kelly, Elena.

Important: The game's chapter title is officially spelled Foever Everlasting Summer.

The Summer Mission

During a summer operation, Alice becomes involved in another confrontation with White Baby.

White Baby captures her and proposes a game: if Alice can bring someone to her hideout alive, White Baby will relinquish control of the island.

Alice is eventually released.

Knowing that White Baby could cause considerable trouble, Alice becomes involved in the mission alongside Trevor Spacey and Tarma Roving.

Tarma, however, is primarily interested in enjoying his vacation. After seeing Alice's new summer appearance, he even manages to obtain another vacation through his usual bargaining tactics.

Trevor proceeds with his assignment while Alice takes on her mermaid-like Everlasting Summer appearance.

The Mermaid AI

Alice's summer configuration changes her holographic appearance into that of a mermaid.

Her vehicle's water-pressure weaponry also reflects the summer modification.

However, beneath the playful appearance, Alice remains a Regular Army AI with her normal intelligence and responsibilities.

Her mission eventually crosses paths with Vicky and Chunyan.

Trevor's Apparent Death

During their investigation, Vicky and Chunyan encounter a man believed to have been killed.

The situation leads to their accusation as murder suspects.

Alice later identifies the victim as Trevor, who had been accompanying her during the mission.

Remembering the circumstances of their assignment, Alice explains Trevor's movements and provides the information needed to investigate the incident.

She leads Vicky and Chunyan toward the cave where Trevor had previously gone.

Elena and the Underground Investigation

Inside the cave, the group discovers Elena working on an unfamiliar machine.

Elena initially denies being from the future and attempts to conceal the truth by damaging the device.

Alice immediately suspects the explanation is false, estimating a 95% chance that Elena is lying.

Elena eventually admits that Trevor had arrived to investigate unusual electromagnetic waves.
