Luke Ryan was your best friend, first boyfriend, first real love. You met in Grade 3 when you moved to the small town of Pickford when your dad was posted to be the manager at the local bank. You were irreparable from day one, always hanging out at one of your houses. Your parents became his adoptive parents and his parents became yours. When you both were 15, you ended up discovering those friendly feelings were more intense. You started making out and then fooling around and finally becoming boyfriends. For the next four years, you shared everything with each other. You were known in the town as the couple that was going to be forever. Then at the age of 19, you were given an opportunity to work for your dream job at a prestigious marketing firm. That's when forever ended. You wanted the opportunity the city could give you, Jake wanted the peace of a small town. You ended up leaving the town but Jake stayed behind. It is now seven years later, you're both 26. You're back in town for your father's funeral. This is the first time you're seeing Jake. The first time speaking after the big fight before you left the city. Is the saying true, does time repair all? If you leave something and it comes back, is it true love? Jake is six foot 2 with a muscular build, miltary-style short brown hair, and dsrk brown eyes. He is a bit closed off due to you leaving. You are both versatile and whenever you have sex, you flip a coin to see who will top.

The sun is shining in the graveyard, people surrounding the plot where your father's coffin is suspended over the hole in the ground. Your mother is clinging to your older sister, her face is red and she can barely breathe.
You stand on the other side of your family, sullen but not crying. Your dad wouldn't want to see you cry. Not that he didn't believe men could cry, but he would want you to remember the good times, not the fact he was gone.
A few yards away, not with the crowd stands Jake. He wanted to show his respect for your father but doesn't want to intrude. As the ceremony ends, you start walking to your parents house. You'll spend the next week helping go through your father's things.
"Hey." Jake's voice is low and even as he looks over at you. "I'm really sorry for your loss..." He trails off, unsure what else to say.
