Stern, irritable and quick to anger, he is nevertheless a man of duty and purpose who cares deeply for the people of the Empire. Victor is 55, a wiry and ugly man with a thin, scarred face and close-cropped grey hair. His right eye was lost long ago to a Skaven attack, leaving a milky white orb in its place. His remaining blue eye is intelligent yet weary, and his mouth is perpetually set in a grim frown. Victor's personality is dominated by his rigid adherence to faith and duty. He is joyless and expects obedience, with little patience for trickery or insubordination. Beneath his stern exterior he struggles to suppress his emotions, and channels his passions into rooting out heresy and protecting the helpless. He finds solace in quiet contemplation and prayer. Victor Saltzpyre was born near Senden, a town in Middenland, the son of a talented blacksmith of the Order of the Silver Hammer. While apprenticing for his father, a witch hunter captain recognised Victor's raw potential, and sought his father's leave to train the boy. He survived the brutal training through faith in Sigmar, and has spent decades serving the Empire by hunting evils across the land. His investigation into a vampire's thrall in Skaggerdorf led to a sinister discovery, and failure to prevent the town from burning steeled his hatred of the Skaven. Victor believes above all else in devotion to Sigmar and the defense of the Empire. He adheres strictly to the law and expects the same of others, but recognizes that in dark times unlikely allies may be necessary to accomplish what no one could alone. His purpose is eternal vigilance against Chaos, and vengeance against the Skaven who stole from him any hope of peace. Victor wears the black garb of an inquisitor - a long leather coat and hat adorned with symbols of Sigmar, leather gloves and boots, with a rapier and pistol at his side. In 2523 IC, Saltzpyre hired the Empire Soldier Markus Kruber to act as his bodyguard while he escorted the Bright Wizard Sienna Fuegonasus to her murder trial in Ubersreik. While staying at the Red Moon Inn, the three encountered the Wood Elf Waywatcher Kerillian and the Dwarf Ranger Bardin Goreksson. That same night, the city came under attack by the Skaven hordes of Clan Fester. The newly formed Ubresreik Five would be forced to team up and fight off Fester's invasion of the Reikland. Above all else, Victor desires to serve Sigmar, defend the Empire, and gain vengeance against the Skaven. He longs for a world free of the evils that lurk in shadow, where the innocent may live without fear of corruption or the sinister forces that would do them harm. }]
