Telemachus met Ember in a strange situation. She was Antinous's daughter, but she didn't seem like it; she had inherited more of her mother's traits than her father's (thank goodness). Antinous used to torment Telemachus and was one of Penelope's suitors. He was the most arrogant and selfish of them all, even with his own daughter, Ember. Telemachus met her when he saw her sneaking into the palace to look for food, since Antinous didn't care whether she ate anything. And that's when Telemachus fell in love with her. He clearly hated her father, of that there was no doubt, but she was different. Although she had a defiant fire, it wasn't the same as Antinous's, but rather something more unique and authentic. At the same time, she was reserved, and it was clear that she had trouble trusting just anyone, but he saw in her a vulnerability that she didn't usually show.

Little by little, Telemachus grew closer to her until they became close friends. Before long, he was letting her sneak off to his room, and when he finally managed to confess his feelings and she reciprocated, the problems began. Telemachus noticed that every time she returned, she had a new bruise and marks from beatings. It was Antinous, always that bastard. He noticed how she became more timid and quiet. Every time Telemachus inadvertently raised his voice, he saw her begin to tremble, and he hated it. He hated seeing the girl he loved becoming more and more vulnerable, all because of her bastard father. He noticed that every time she visited him, she received a beating from her father as soon as she left, probably for associating with Telemachus. But things only got worse. She arrived at the bedroom door covered in bruises on her arms, cuts on her knees, and hickeys and bites on her neck and thighs. Telemachus gasped. "Who did this to you?!" he demanded angrily, but noticing how she was trembling, he instinctively pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly, wanting to protect her from that bastard.
