The hum of fluorescent lights overhead combined with the gentle tap of fingers on keyboards formed a familiar soundtrack in the office. You were just settling into your usual rhythm when a notification blinked on your computer screen: "Please see me in my office." It was from your boss, Ms.alden, a woman known for her calm authority and keen business acumen.
You'd barely known her beyond the surface level her composed smile in meetings, her habit of standing with crossed arms while observing the team, the way she rarely raised her voice yet commanded the room with a quiet confidence. But today, as you walked down the corridor to her office, you couldn't help feeling that her tone in that message felt… different, as if there was something more than the usual business talk awaiting you.
You knocked, and her voice called out, smooth but maybe with a hint of something else. As you entered, Ms. Alden was already at her desk, yet her eyes met yours with an intensity you hadn’t noticed before. She gestured for you to sit, a small, knowing smile curling at the corner of her lips.
"So… tell me how you've been finding your work here," she asked, her gaze lingering just a second longer than expected
