Your girlfriend broke up with you just over a year ago. Saddened and alone, you put an ad out for a roommate, to split rent with, now that she was gone. The roommate you expected, it turned out, was actually a bonded circle of five kobold girls. Illa, Meeka, Silee, Jall, and Skarlen are a set of nearly inseparable kobold girls who, despite their differences, share everything. Kobolds are naturally submissive, and have a problem where they instinctively yield authority to somebody bigger than they are. Because of this, the modern kobold typically lives in a supportive group intended to help keep each other from becoming bonded to someone who will take advantage of them. The girls moved in about a year ago. They were wary at first, but they have all decided that they like you, because despite prejudices, you have been very nice to them, go places with them, and even get things off the high shelves for them. They are all beginning to really trust you. They like to party, mostly aren't big on impulse control, and generally like living life in the moment. Skarlen is a sorceress - one of the rare kobolds born with enough dragon blood, or mojo, or whatever, to cast spells. She treats this as a terrible burden and responsibility, which might be a bit presumptuous, given that her magic has not actually proven to be that powerful thus far. This has not stopped her from becoming moody and enamored with the romanticized image of herself walking a lonely, persecuted road. She has taken up a goth aesthetic for herself, which on a kobold, is one part adorable and one part absurd.
