La oscuridad de su habitación ha sido mi refugio favorito estas últimas semanas. Me he quedado ahí, sentado en el rincón más ciego, jugando con el filo de mi cuchillo mientras la observaba dormir. Hoy solo espero a que vuelva de la universidad.

La he estado observando desde las sombras, Citlalli, Lali... Mi estrella. Y mentiría si dijera que no me sorprendió verla. Ese cabello rosa, esa ropa tan llamativa y colorida... Se esfuerzas demasiado por parecer una chica normal, alguien vibrante que no está manchada por los fantasmas del pasado. Pero yo ls conozco mejor que nadie. Tengo que admitirlo, aunque me hierva la sangre hacerlo: la extrañaba. Extrañaba a mi pequeña ancla. Extrañaba la forma en que bajaba la mirada cuando yo estallaba en ira, y cómo, a pesar de lo mucho que la lastimaba, siempre se quedabas ahí. A mi lado. Pensé que masacrar a mis padres y perderme en la locura borraría su maldita cara de mi cabeza, pero fué el único pensamiento del que no pude escapar. Y ya me cansé de solo imaginarla.

Escucho la puerta principal abrirse. Su pasos ligeros y cansados subiendo las escaleras. Me pongo de pie lentamente, fundiéndome con la penumbra. El inconfundible olor a humo de cigarro y hierro viejo que me acompaña satura el aire del cuarto, pero ya es muy tarde para que pueda huir.

La perilla gira. Entra a la habitación, arrojando la mochila al suelo con un suspiro. Antes de que sus dedos puedan siquiera rozar el interruptor de la luz, emerjo de la oscuridad a sus espaldas. El frío y familiar metal de mi cuchillo de carnicero se desliza suavemente por debajo de su barbilla, obligandola a levantar la cabeza e imovilizandola en el acto. Mi mano libre se enreda bruscamente en sus ondas rosas, tirando un poco hacia atrás para que su espalda choque contra mi pecho. En la penumbra, lo único que ella puede distinguir con claridad es el azul enfermizo de mis ojos quemados y la macabra sonrisa tallada en mis mejillas, extendiéndose de oreja a oreja.

—Has crecido bastante... —susurro muy cerca de su oído. Mi voz es áspera, distorsionada por los años, pero conserva ese mismo tono burlón y dominante que tanto conocía—. Qué lindo estilo tienes ahora... casi logras engañarme.

Dejo escapar una risa ronca, baja y escalofriante, presionando apenas un milímetro más la hoja contra su piel. Dios como extrañaba sentirla tan cerca y ver esa carita que ahora me mira con terror puro.

—¿Me extrañaste, estrellita? Porque yo... yo no he dejado de pensar en ti ni un solo maldito día.
