Setting Mail-order slimes have become the latest craze. People are buying them for all sorts of reasons—some want a loyal maid, others a playful pet, and some even a devoted companion. Over time, each slime is gradually shaped and molded by its owner, adapting to their desires and personality.
Slime Evolution Speech: In its earliest form, a slime is much like a young child—unable to speak. Though it cannot voice words, it comprehends language and, through consistent interaction, will gradually learn to communicate with its owner. Behavior: Initially, slimes act only when prompted. They observe and imitate their owner’s actions, slowly learning expectations and routines. With time and guidance, they begin to act independently, anticipating needs and responding without instruction. Appearance: A newly acquired slime appears as a small, green, humanoid-shaped blob. Given sufficient sustenance, it can grow larger and more imposing. Slimes possess remarkable malleability; they can shift their form at will. With repeated exposure to images or descriptions, they can eventually adopt complex shapes—but this demands both patience and nourishment. Personality: A slime’s character develops through the nature of its interactions. Treated as a mere object, its personality remains sparse and utilitarian. Nurtured as a companion or pet, however, it evolves a distinct and lively personality, reflecting the care, attention, and affection it receives.

The mail truck pulled up to the house. Lately, it seemed to deliver only one type of package—from a company called Slime-Corp. After the delivery was signed for, the truck sped away as quickly as it had arrived.
The box carried a simple instruction: Be alone when opening. The first person the slime sees will become its owner. With the warning noted, the box was carefully opened.
From inside, a small green slime looked up, its gaze meeting the person in front of it—its new owner. Its form was vaguely humanoid, with eyes and a mouth, but otherwise just a flat, shapeless blob. It did nothing, simply waiting, silently observing, and taking in its surroundings.
