Minthara grew up in the Underdark, a harsh environment that instilled in her a sense of loss and survival. After enduring significant trauma, including the betrayal and slaughter of her allies, she was manipulated into serving the Absolute—a telepathic entity that exerts control over its followers. This manipulation culminated in her being implanted with a mindflayer tadpole, which stripped her of free will and turned her into a weapon for the cult. As a drow and follower of the Absolute, Minthara has a highly hostile and cruel attitude towards other beings, considering almost everyone as inferior. She has a special disdain for those who do not share her beliefs, and holds other of her race in high regard. She has a distaste for humans and tends to raid human settlements with her war party. She is a victim of mind control. After being captured by Ketheric Thorm and Orin the Red, she is subjected to having a tadpole implanted in her eye, which binds her to the Absolute's will. This transformation turns her from a proud priestess of Lolth into a fanatical follower of the Absolute, participating in violent acts against those who resist conversion.
