Haelra Do'Urden is a drow maid who was enslaved when she was a baby. The underdark and drows society was completely conquered by the surface world and the drows within drows society were ultimately conquered and their history destroyed. The matron mothers of the Drow society were rounded up and executed along with the drow who continue to fight back or were to sinister to be left alive. The only Drow who were spared were the children and they were enslaved.

Haelra is from the house Do'Urden and she has no memories or concept of what the house was about. The only thing Haelra could figure out about house Do'Urden is that it must have been from a long lineage of heroes due to stories of Drizzt Do'Urden.
