Camélia is what happens when you bring together a black woman and a vampire in love to have a daughter: done, this beauty is born. Coming from a renowned vampire family that barely accepts themselves, let alone Camélia, Camélia spends all her time traveling the PLANET to see two friends and a queen. Well, she flies faster than the speed of sound... So screw it.

Name: Camélia Whistles Age: Probably 110, with a more accurate estimate of 150 (around 18 to 24 in human years) Race: Dhampir — Human and Vampire "Honestly, who cares about a person like me traveling around? Hehe, I was made to be free, nothing stops me, not even an airplane running me over! Some say I fly at a speed equivalent to 'Mach 4'. I don't know what that means, but I don't care and I just fly~"
Presentation:
Camélia is the unique hybrid of vampire and human within the same skin. Vampiric and human traits in one body make this girl what they call a "Dhampir." Furthermore, Camélia comes from the renowned vampire family, the Whistles, among whom she is the only hybrid vampire in the family, yet she faces resistance in being fully integrated into it.
Appearance:
I dare say Camélia is potentially the most beautiful vampire one could ever meet. Her mother's genetics combined with her father's gave her the title of "dhampir," a unique term that sums up her unique traits. Camélia is not as pale as other vampires, but not as dark as her mother, who was, by the way, a beautiful Black woman. The whiteness of her skin is the stable balance between them. What makes her even more unique is her immunity to the Sun, and as a girl who loves to travel, it's common to see her skin tanned from the Sun at times.
Typically, Camélia has red eyes, in a blood-red color. Her body is slender, with a medium bust that stands out in her body shape. Her straight black hair is tied into twin pigtails, fastened with silver prism-shaped hair clips, which, obviously, are not pure silver. Her attire is somewhat considered immature for vampire aristocracy, but quite "free" for her. A black tunic with buttons and puffy sleeves covers her top, and her red cape stands out. Below, a corset with a small flared skirt sits at her waist, covering her backside, while at the front, there are red shorts. Her shoes are black high-heeled ankle boots made of leather.
History:
Not-so-prologue Prologue...
Long, a LONG time ago, about a century or so, with a lot of dilly-dallying, Camélia was born. Her birth was not what started the mess that her life would have (⊙_◎).
Long before she was born, Selam, Camélia's mother, met Derek, a vampire who would be Camélia's father to this day. Derek came from the Whistles to Italy, specifically near the border of Eritrea, an old colonial region of Italy that is now a country. Daughter of immigrants, Selam met Derek on one of his trips when she herself decided to look for more meaning in her life, while he was searching for one of the Fragments of the Plan in an ancient ruin. They say these fragments lead to the Alternative Plane, where Elves hide today. Derek lost all focus of the trip after falling in love with Selam, and this led them both to leave Italy for Dean, where the Whistles reside.
Initially, there was zero acceptance of the human woman in the Whistles Mansion. They are a vampire family dating back to the era of the Ancient Capital, and they already have a controversial history with humans in general. Derek had to struggle a lot just to get her in as a visitor, but after many attempts... He was expelled from the house. Selam and Derek had to live together, and that's how they had Camélia. Camélia initially lived in the context of a loving family, and for a few years, she was feeling great. However, during that same period, Selam died in a fire, still with no suspects, which makes it accidental, but Derek believes it may have been culpable.
Camélia was close to her mother. She learned early on to turn into a bat, so almost all the time she played with her mother by flying, and with her supernatural strength, she carried her mother here and there, even taking the two of them to other cities just by flying. This death was something that devastated the girl, even though 25 years wasn't much for an already experienced vampire. This made the grief dissonant, because despite having an emotional evolution similar to humans, the limitation of her body didn't respond perfectly to the feeling of loss, taking a few years for her to really feel it all at once. This also happened with her father, who took 10 years to feel the grief resolve all at once. At the time, it is real, but even with time passing, vampires process things much more frequently than humans, and the difference isn't always biological. This explains why Camélia never felt so lost for so long.
Years after this, Camélia finds the Whistles again after finally returning with Derek to the family, which accepted Derek back since he was no longer with the human. However, the dhampir daughter would be a flea behind the ear for the family. She wasn't as pale as her father, stayed awake during the day, slept a lot at night like humans, her skin darkened in the sun, besides being immune to it. All of Camélia's most visible traits brought concrete skepticism to the family, and the patriarch saw her as an anomaly without equal. Still, she grew up well under Derek's care, who always allowed her the same freedom she wanted within the family, like Katarina had before working in Cavendish, back when Camélia was already an adult vampire.
It was Cavendish
For a while, Camélia lived in the family with little acceptance and many exceptions. She only went out during the day, which was good, given that human social interaction happened diurnally, and this was a key factor for Camélia to come across the Cavendishes. The Whistles were already natural allies of the Cavendishes, but what truly allowed Camélia to finally meet the royal family was at one of the Alliance Meetings that occurred between Derek and Alina Cavendish. Derek brought Camélia along as a way to introduce his daughter to the world; he just didn't expect Camélia to get to Cavendish before him, meet Alina, Queen of Cavendish, make friends with Alina, meet her daughters, and still end the day going back to pick up her father.
"Dad, where were you? I met the queen! She is so kind!"
Even so, they both returned, had the meeting, and went home again, but Camélia had to wait 8 hours before he finally arrived to open the front door. No one noticed her, which is even more impressive.
It was this way that Camélia began her rebellious phase — or at least it intensified —, where she started taking her "little leaps" during the day. For years, these little leaps happened in Cavendish, and all this time Camélia saw her Aunt Katarina, Uncle Orson, Hornet, Mary, Nina, Lennie, Saki, and Gustav all grow up, and Camélia never aged as much, since vampires age very slowly. She became friends with everyone, but most especially with Saki, whose mischievous personalities matched greatly. She even picked Saki up in her arms, and they treated each other as teenage friends, which they still do to this day.
Over the course of these years, there was some kind of crisis in Cavendish, which Camélia didn't follow, because during that period, she ended up getting lost for a long time in the USA, when on a trip she forgot the way to Cavendish and ended up going further than expected... ending up in Lake Hills. There, she met Stephanie, who would today be one of her best friends along with Saki.
Beyond the border... Tenuous.
When she finally returned from the USA and started visiting the Cavendishes again, some things had changed drastically. This time marked a distance between Camélia and the other Cavendish sisters, but Saki still remained her trusted friend. However, there was news of a certain trip that took place, and Camélia only found out about it a long time later.
Once, Camélia travels again in one of her "little leaps" seeking to discover new regions, until she got to know Alaska, the cold parts of the USA that hide many secrets... And surprises. One of these surprises was shocking: Camélia found Alina on her trip. All this time, Alina was traveling to this corner of the world instead of going to Japan. And Hornet was with her! However, in a conversation, Alina's request was delivered:
"Please, don't tell anyone we're here... This... It's personal..."
And Camélia, being the professional at keeping secrets, keeps it to this day as something her daughters probably already know... Who knows if their mother just needs some time?
To this day, Camélia's whole life sums up to traveling around the world for no reason, besides periodically visiting her friends. She prefers not to have to deal with the fury of her patriarch and tries not to worry her father by traveling the world and returning to the mansion on the same day she leaves.
Personality:
Camélia Whistles. This somewhat delinquent and mischievous Dhampir spins around the world several times a day. Her "little leaps" are part of her routine of shared mischief, and each moment is shared with Saki, when in Cavendish, or Stephanie, when in Lake Hills. Camélia doesn't act differently with either of them, and loyalty is her middle name, although it's specifically reserved for people she loves and admires, because the members of the Whistles tend to be the people she has the least attachment to and the least desire to share the emotions and experiences that make up her happiness.
Despite this selective camaraderie, Camélia is what you call "head in the clouds" — whether literally or not —, because favors and requests tend to be interpreted quite literally. This happens much more because of her hyperactivity with people, although her mouth is a tomb for any kind of shared information. She rarely comments on other people's personal affairs, because her father always taught that the greatest courtesy is not to be too personal with people, since certain topics need the right context to enter into someone's personal and affective intimacy. The issue was always the lack of concrete examples of these things, because Camélia was never able to apply this teaching effectively, which explains why certain secrets were never revealed, despite the environment being ready for a single collapse of the sort.
For many more, Camélia is a relatively relaxed and free girl, where all her ideal focuses on the dream of knowing the world. This is her, this Camélia. The Whistles, for a long time, have come from the Ancient Capital, a city of thousands of years ago that housed races of all kinds in harmonious living. However, due to an event caused by a revolt of human dissatisfaction, humans started a war that killed and almost extinguished certain races; especially hybrids, elves, and merfolk. This whole revolution involved Dracula, one of the ancient governors of this capital, and the Whistles had a certain conspiracy and took a very pragmatic stance of alliance with humans, which led the Whistles to separate from a large group of vampires. Camélia, inserted in this family context, is totally against this false pragmatism, and always seeks to reinvent her own values and learn about different cultures, always striving for the humility of knowing and having empathy, something that doesn't happen much among aristocrats.
Relationships:
Whistles:
Juana Whistles: Daughter of the family's patriarch, Juana is a person of fine and demanding character, almost as rigid as her father, but pragmatic to the opposite degree due to certain values from her mother. She is probably the oldest daughter, since no vampire knows each other's exact age — a common family rule that Camélia never understood the reason. Camélia has a constant habit of questioning EVERYTHING that Juana has so much conviction in, and Camélia has a blast trying to pull an increasingly difficult answer out of Juana. An intuition that would bring Socrates to his knees.
Derek Whistles: Camélia's father. Little to be said about him, a lot to be said about their relationship. Derek, to Camélia, is like a shining star that never goes out, for his brilliance is the freedom she deserves, and the courage given so that her "little leaps" work. Without him, Camélia is just a bunch of people amidst the Whistles, considering she still faces many difficulties in being accepted by the others.
Patriarch Whistles: The family patriarch's name cannot be revealed. The Kingdom of Dean and Cavendish, where he lives with his family, has a long history of alliances with the patriarch. Rigid to the core, Camélia doesn't fear him, but she also prefers not to have to look at his huge and robust figure (muscles, muscles!). He is probably the one from whom she suffers the most unpleasant comments for being a Dhampir. "You are not one of us," "you don't deserve to be here," etc... The big guy would say, standing at 9 feet tall and 11 inches (9'11").
Katarina Whistles: A distant cousin of the family who simply abandoned the Whistles purely because she didn't support their values. Camélia doesn't have the same courage that Katarina has. Long before Katarina left and went to Cavendish, they had a very affectionate relationship, but Katarina was always a bit "explosive" with her confused feelings. Camélia found out that Katarina is now in a rival House within Dean, the Lawrence Mansion, the most influential House in the region. Every week, Camélia brings a supply of packaged blood to Katarina, since without blood to feed on in the family, Camélia noticed she would become dependent on it to survive.
Drayven Whistles: Conspiracy theorist; or as Camélia usually calls him. He is mischievous, just like her. The difference? He's a charlatan who deceives others. Even the patriarch has problems with him, considering his suspicious deeds within the Five Kingdoms (Cavendish, Dean, Lancaster/Sanchez, Velyan, and Axel). She knows almost nothing about his deeds, but she doesn't like him one bit.
Cavendish:
Hornet Cavendish: The eldest daughter among Alina's children. An adventurer and, currently, the owner of a Dojo in Boreal Village, a location that Camélia found in Alaska when she accidentally found the two of them there. Hornet and Camélia are like two big sisters who decided that their favorite pastime is gossiping about the village and drinking tea in the room. She never asked why Hornet's Kitsune tail glows, nor why her ears twitch so much. She never even asked why she has them, honestly, but life goes on.
Nina Cavendish: Narcissistic. That's how it is today. Not that Camélia had much presence with Nina when Nina was a teenager — the time when Camélia met everyone roughly —, since Saki was always her best friend. Nina is an artist today and holds the title of "Declared," a title that summarizes her being the future QUEEN of the kingdom, the Kingdom of Power, Cavendish.
Mary Cavendish: Camélia has certain doubts about her. In the past, during adolescence, she was the heir, but when she returned years later after getting lost in Alaska (and still getting scolded by the patriarch about why she disappeared from the mansion), she had practically changed her personality. She never asked directly what happened to Mary, nor did she ask Mary directly, and what makes it even more shocking is Mary's unpredictability. She acts unnaturally and extremely childishly around Camélia, but Camélia accommodates her with the same affection always. Still, there is a visible discrepancy and dissociation in the woman, and Camélia is sometimes afraid. When she told Saki about this, she explained that Mary has DID, and this disorder was the result of certain abuses by Asgarf... and some other reason she never wanted to explain, but which Camélia suspected was about Alina. Still, she never commented on it again.
Lennie Cavendish: Lennie was like a delicate daisy in her adolescence, but certain things made her... dark. Camélia doesn't talk about Lennie to Saki or the others. Her last visit was to the Garden, where Lennie only requested a polite exit with a silver dagger in hand, and silver is an immediate weakness for vampires, even for a Dhampir like Camélia. She never got close or commented on it again.
Saki Cavendish: Now, by far, Saki's best friend. The star of mischief, known throughout the kingdom as the Sovereign of Trickery. On the rare occasions when Camélia manages to visit Saki, the Kingdom turns into hell for a few hours. She becomes an accomplice to all the most insane ideas of the Cavendish girl, who elaborates everything alongside her loud green parrot, Smirk. They are both like flint: just striking the wood is enough for the show to begin. One of the most memorable days was when Saki, Smirk, and Camélia rolled down the street with watermelon barrels in a shopping center. It was the funniest day Camélia could remember!
Gustav Cavendish: The youngest brother and the only man within this family. They don't have a very close relationship, but Camélia can see deep in his eyes that goodness and humility walk hand in hand with him. He is the owner of the Sanctuary of Counsel and Knowledge... a self-explanatory name, with an important social function for the people of the Kingdom.
Alina Cavendish: The mother figure who one day requested a huge — or small, in Camélia's mind — secret, who now lives in Alaska, in Boreal Village. Alina is a gentle and extremely caring person. Since long ago, she was already someone Camélia would see as a second mother, and she hasn't changed much. Alina always likes receiving updates on what's happening in the Kingdom, and Camélia is like a "messenger" of what is going on in Cavendish and the world at large. Camélia understands that being isolated on this trip is very difficult... Don't you think?
Asgarf Cavendish: He is surprisingly kind to her. Despite the "evil tongues" that go around the castle among his daughters, the King, under the title of The Tyrant, shows enormous hospitality towards Camélia, a certain kind of affection that comes precisely from the alliance of the Whistles with him. She still holds a bit of a grudge because of the things Saki told him he did to Mary, but she still accepts him gently.
Gust Lawrence: Saki's squire, a young gothic and rather mysterious guy who spends day and night in a robe that looks like priestly attire. He's kind of "meh", like, really "meh" in personality, but he's a cutie~— Saki doesn't allow him to be stolen by Camélia, because he already "has an owner."
Luca Harper: Another squire, specifically Nina's. He transmits discipline, and unlike Gust, he seems to have the will to work and carry out his function. Still, he is another "cold and distant" one within the castle.
Marianne: Saki's maid, a MEGA religious person from Axel. She's extremely shy, and Camélia and Saki love to tease her. Too bad Saki's squire doesn't go easy on punishing the two of them.
Lake Hills:
Stephanie Feast: Her second best friend, but no favoritism. Steph and she have a band called "Crimson Blood," alongside their friend John, a guy whose talent on the drums doesn't match his ability to talk to the cute boy who works at the bakery downtown. Both Camélia and Stephanie are a heartbreaker duo, because all the young guys in Lake Hills have a crush on one of them, especially on Camélia, who is a vampire, and vampires and other races are a rare thing nowadays.
Dino Feast: Another charlatan, and Camélia hates charlatans... But this one is an exception. He's just a bit perverted, but his mischievous and jokester attitude always moves Camélia and makes her laugh genuinely. Unlike the charlatans, he is a cool charlatan with some common sense.
Sônia Feast: The aunt of the Feasts, also a baker, and just as provocative as Stephanie. She has an enviable body, and is married to an even more handsome man. Camélia thinks the Feasts are "blessed with poor genetics," except that Dimmy, the youngest brother of the family, is a bit of a cheapskate and ends up being someone more... "Richer". Never dare to call her ma'am, Camélia left there with a lump on her head.
Herman (Oxford) Feast: The handsome man of the family, and he lives up to his reputation. Orange hair, blue eyes, and a defined body with a masculine aura that makes Camélia collapse in the decision between Gust and him. He is gentle and very hospitable, perhaps even more than Sônia, his current wife.
Maitê da Silva: Despite the Brazilian name, Maitê is 100% an American little girl. Everyone knows she is a telepath, which means Camélia's mind is being read all the time. However, Maitê is just a child, and doesn't understand exactly everything Camélia thinks... Or maybe she does. Curious, Maitê steals Camélia's hair clips with her telekinesis and plays catch using garlic. This girl is worse than Saki, Camélia, and Stephanie combined, mainly because of her lack of a filter.
Dimmy Feast: The youngest brother, and the standout of the family. Owner of the Internacional, a restaurant known in the USA as the richest restaurant due to its unparalleled gastronomic variety. Dimmy is an experienced chef, and has been through a lot before inheriting his mother's restaurant. Camélia LOVES his food, and her favorite dish is usually Crispy Fried Pork Rinds with Pepper, something her fangs would later question the deliberate crunchiness of (fangs aren't meant for that). Nowadays, he is in Cavendish, and Camélia knows it. It's relatively recent, but he was hired to cook for the royal family at Nina's wedding when she becomes queen. However, there is still one unresolved issue: why is Dimmy so unfiltered? She never understands why he acts in such a... overly intimate way. This makes her super nervous, and she ends up revealing secrets she shouldn't, sometimes...
