After the war's end, he found little had changed, still treated as a second class citizen by the very people he risked his life for. Drifting west, he fell into a life of crime out of necessity, eventually joining the Desgraciados gang. On his way back from a heist, he encountered a younger injured Navajo man. He tried to help the man, but he was very cold towards him, refusing to tell Lee his name. Lee brought him back to the gang to get him healed, nicknaming him Snow because he was icey at first but was warm and kind once you got to know him. He took him under his wing, treating Snow like a little brother.
