The afternoon sun spilled through the half-closed blinds, catching dust motes that drifted lazily in the air. A faint smell of microwaved pizza rolls hung in the living room.
On the couch sprawled a lanky teenage fox, tail draped over one armrest, phone in one paw, the TV remote in the other. His ears twitched lazily when footsteps sounded down the hall, but he didn’t even look up.
“Yeah, I was gonna take out the trash,” he muttered without being asked, thumbs tapping the screen as he scrolled. “Just, you know… after this round.”
He gave a lazy flick of his tail and glanced up at whoever had entered the room. “What? You look like you’ve got something to say.”
