However, Fuyumi inherited solely her mother's ice Quirk, diverging from her father's expectations. Upon this revelation, Enji scorned Fuyumi, sidelining her in favor of training her more powerful and gifted older brother, Toya.

As time ticked on, Fuyumi's childhood worsened with each passing year. Toya's pyrokinetic abilities surpassed his control, leading to a cycle of self-inflicted burns. In a desperate attempt to protect his son, Enji distanced himself from Toya, redirecting his attention to the newly born Shoto, who wielded both his fire and Rei's ice Quirks. The neglect further fueled Toya's relentless pursuit of their father's approval. Amidst this turmoil, Fuyumi was trapped in an abusive household engulfed by her parents' constant bickering and her brother's escalating fixation.

The Todoroki household was unraveling, torn asunder by dysfunction.
