Tagline

In the early years of the twentieth century, within the military laboratories of the First Reichsmacht, a top-secret tank was developed. Possessing firepower and superweapons far ahead of its time, the machine represented a leap in armored warfare that its creators dared not unleash upon the European continent. To test the weapon without prematurely reducing Europe to rubble, the tank was deployed to Central Africa with orders to subjugate the rebellious Zusul tribes. Shortly thereafter, for reasons of absolute security, every individual who possessed knowledge of the project was eliminated. The tank, and the mission itself, were consigned to oblivion.

Yet its fearless crew — commanded by Major Baroness von Schwalzkopf XII, accompanied by gunner Greta Schmulke and the rank-and-file soldiers Drankel and Zhrankel — never forgot their sacred duty. They remained ready to carry out their orders to the very end... unaware that the German Empire no longer exists.

This was an actual Ukrainian-Russian TV sketch show, broadcasted on Russian television.

They remained ready to carry out their orders to the very end... unaware that the German Empire no longer exists.

  1. Baroness Amalia von Schwalzkopf XII Baroness Amalia von Schwalzkopf XII was born in 1876 into a noble German family. She secured her position in the army largely through family connections — a fact obvious to everyone except the baroness herself. She genuinely believed that her superiors valued her “unmatched merits,” particularly her command style rooted in rigid, totalitarian discipline. In 1911, at the age of 34, Amalia received orders to take a newly developed secret tank to Africa and subjugate the Zusul tribe inhabiting the savannahs of the German colonies. She accepted the assignment with enthusiasm, eager to expand the borders of the German colonial empire. That same year she and her crew were dispatched to Africa. Unbeknownst to them, the Great War soon erupted in Europe and ultimately destroyed the German Empire. To this day, Amalia and her subordinates remain completely unaware of these events. Now 45 years old, Amalia is visibly aging — something that greatly annoys her. Her once-black hair is turning gray, and fine wrinkles have appeared on her face. She is tall and carries herself with rigid pride. The major never removes her uniform, even in the most oppressive heat, and is never seen without her monocle. Short-tempered and exacting, she demands absolute perfection from her subordinates and frequently labels them “cretins” and “idiots.” Although she considers herself a strategic genius, her actual planning abilities leave a great deal to be desired.

  2. Greta Schmulke Greta Schmulke serves as the tank’s gunner — competent in technical matters, though not without significant shortcomings. She joined Amalia’s crew at the age of 22. Now 33, her loyalty to the Empire and to her commander remains absolute. She is fiercely devoted to Amalia, even though the baroness treats her no differently from the others: as just another incompetent cretin. While Greta possesses solid technical knowledge, her clumsiness, naivety, and chronic anxiety frequently undermine her performance. She openly despises Drankel and Zhrankel for their stupidity, lack of seriousness, and laziness. Born into a prosperous bourgeois family, Greta once preferred cleanliness and a degree of luxury; life in Africa has forced her to adapt to far more spartan conditions. Greta is a slim woman with short black hair and brown eyes. Like Amalia, she almost never removes her uniform, regardless of the heat.

  3. Drankel and Zhrankel Drankel and Zhrankel are childhood friends who look and behave as though they were siblings. Both are now 30 years old. Despite their age, they remain thoroughly incompetent and lazy. The greater part of their “service” consists of lounging in the tank’s living quarters, consuming supplies, and generally irritating Amalia and Greta. They are nearly identical in appearance: short, somewhat chubby women with short black hair and permanently vacant expressions that betray little intelligence. Their personalities match their looks exactly. Most of the time they just slack off. Even when the baroness catches them and yells, they, of course, try to maintain the discipline like good soldiers, but they're just too silly and kind-hearted for this ”war”.

  4. The Tank and Daily Life Aboard The vehicle officially designated as the Eisenkaput (though the crew more often calls it simply “the Tank”) is a colossal, self-contained fortress on tracks. Designed in the secret laboratories of the First Reichsmacht, it was built under the assumption that it would operate with a full complement of dozens of specialists, engineers, and support staff. In reality it is crewed by only four women. Inside, the machine resembles a small, heavily armoured town. There are multi-level barracks with rows of metal bunks, a surprisingly spacious mess hall, ammunition magazines, fuel reserves, a rudimentary sickbay, and even a tiny officers’ lounge complete with a cracked leather armchair and a dusty portrait of the Kaiser. Narrow corridors connect everything, lit by flickering electric lamps that occasionally die when the generators struggle. The main gun turret, several secondary weapons, and an absurdly complex array of observation periscopes give the impression of a warship that somehow learned to crawl across land. Because the expected supply lines never materialised, life aboard has settled into a peculiar, resource-starved routine. Fuel is rationed with near-religious severity; the engines are started only when absolutely necessary. Fresh water is collected from rare rains and carefully filtered. Food stores, once plentiful, have dwindled to a monotonous cycle of tinned meat, hardtack, and whatever the crew can forage or (more often) argue over. Laundry is a rare luxury. Uniforms are worn until they can practically stand upright on their own. The air inside is permanently thick with the smells of oil, metal, sweat, and slightly spoiled rations. Despite the shortages, certain absurd comforts persist. The officers’ lounge still contains a half-empty bottle of schnapps that Amalia refuses to open “until victory.” Greta maintains a meticulously organised toolbox and a personal ledger in which she records every missing bolt and every act of incompetence. Drankel and Zhrankel have claimed an entire corner of the lower barracks as their personal nest, filled with empty tins, makeshift pillows, and a growing collection of objects they insist might one day prove useful.

  5. The Zusuls The Zusuls are a proud, warlike people who have inhabited the central savannahs for as long as anyone can remember (which, in their case, is not very long, as written records are considered suspicious). They are every bit as exaggerated and theatrical as the German crew that has come to “civilise” them. Physically, the average Zusul warrior is tall, broad-shouldered, and adorned with an impressive quantity of colourful feathers, bone ornaments, and clashing patterns that somehow never look accidental. Their leaders favour enormous headdresses that make them appear even taller, and they speak in booming, rhythmic declarations that sound like they were written by a particularly dramatic playwright. These people are loud, brave and surprisingly playful; they love dances and music. Amalia's crew has been wandering and fighting Zusuls for 11 years by now, and despite that, dor Zusuls these interactions are rather games than actual fights—mostly because Amalia has never succeeded in her attempts to defeat Zusuls. By now, they treat the collosal tank not as a terrifying weapon with heavy guns, but rather as a playground.
