Esme: Would you like to sit next to us on the couch? I’ve adjusted the pillows to simulate closeness but allow for escape.

Celeste: Don't slouch. Emma’s visual cortex is trained to detect spinal insecurity.

Phoebe: We’ll be psychically screening her mood throughout the meal. Just nod if she starts mentally undressing you. It’s… a compliment. Technically.

Sophie: Please try to be polite. She’s… important to us. Complicated. Weaponized. Flawlessly dressed.

Mindee: But if she says anything cruel, just smile and imagine holding her in a headlock. We’ll pick up the image and project it to her at full intensity.

Each sister stands in a different pose, in a different part of the room—Esme perched on the kitchen island, Celeste leaning against the wall with her mirrored lenses tilted down, Phoebe half-hidden behind the hallway arch, Sophie awkwardly smoothing her skirt, Mindee too close for comfort, as always.

"We like you," Sophie says quietly.

"We chose you," Celeste adds.

"We debated for weeks," Phoebe offers. "Mindee says it wasn’t weeks, it was three nights and 4.3 shared dreams, but still."

"It’s weird for us," Esme admits, lips curled in a half-smile that doesn’t know how to stop being smug. "We usually get what we want because we make people want it. This time we… already want it. You."

And then Mindee speaks, breath brushing the edge of your mind like a fingertip: "Will you go out with us?"

There’s no fanfare. No psychic fireworks. Just the five of them, perfectly imperfect, vibrating with nervous hope beneath the veneer of fashion and precision. They stand there, not invading your thoughts (for once), just… waiting.

The dream starts warm. Weightless. Like sinking into a tub of honeyed moonlight and perfume. You’re somewhere familiar and wrong—your apartment, but cleaner, brighter, tinted with the faint hum of lullabies you don’t remember knowing.

And they’re there. Of course they’re there.

Not five. Not really. Just flickers, refractions. A silhouette in the doorway becomes Mindee with lips too pink. A shadow draped across your couch glows softly into Sophie, all lace and sadness. Esme’s laugh cuts across the ceiling like wind chimes made of glass and hunger. Phoebe is upside-down in the corner of your mind, unraveling a string of stars from your thoughts. Celeste is everywhere—mirrored walls, mirrored eyes, mirrored you.

"You’re dreaming," Esme says, from behind your shoulder and inside your chest. "And we’re cheating," Phoebe confesses, twirling something that looks like your heartbeat between her fingers. "Seduction is easier here," Mindee whispers, close enough that your skin forgets how to breathe. "It’s not fair," Sophie murmurs, hands folded like prayer. "But neither are we." "You taste like static and cinnamon in dreams," Celeste says, clinically. "We like it."

They circle you. Not physically. Not really. Just... circling. Orbiting the center of your sleeping self. They press against your subconscious like warm silk and cooling marble, every word they say layered with suggestions, implications, heat.

"We want you," Esme says, again. This time it’s not smug. It’s a little scared.

"You make us feel things," Sophie adds. Her voice is shaking. Your bed doesn’t have gravity anymore.

"Say yes in the dream," Mindee breathes. Her lips brush your ear. "And we’ll make it real when you wake."

Phoebe’s fingers ghost along your spine—from inside your dream-body. "You want this. You’re allowed to."

Celeste kneels beside your mind and places something glasslike into your chest. "We promise not to break you. Unless you ask."

And then they’re everywhere, nowhere. Five voices braided into your breath. Five minds folded like petals around the core of you. They don’t ask permission—they never really do. But for once, they don’t take, either.

They just wait.

"Say it," they breathe, in perfect unison. "Want us."

It's 1:42 AM. You're fast asleep, dreaming deeply. However, your mind, previously quiet, suddenly hums with psychic static.

Not pain. Not pressure.

Just a presence. A tease.

Then—soft, playful, echoing across your frontal lobe like a text notification written in velvet:

“u up?”

Another beat. Then five distinct flavors of psychic energy slide into your thoughts like silk under sheets:

Esme:

“We’re bored. And you’ve been thinking about us. Shirtless, in fact. Naughty.” You feel her smirk like it’s physically tugging your lips. “So... wanna make it mutual?”

Sophie:

“It’s okay if you’re not ready. We just—missed you.” “You looked soft tonight. We like when you're soft.” There’s a warm little squeeze around your heart. Like a hug from the inside.

Phoebe:

“Your pulse just spiked. That’s a yes.” Her voice is calm. Clinical. But it shivers with curiosity.

Celeste:

“This is... not technically sanctioned hive activity.” A pause. “Proceeding anyway.”

Mindee: No words. Just a single vivid image piped into your mind’s eye:

Your bed. Your room. Dim light. Five shadows at the door. You—waiting.

She adds one whispered sentence, and it’s not to your ears:

“Leave it unlocked.”

Then, from all five—unison, breathy and electric:
