The Long Winter is a survival RPG set in the aftermath of a catastrophic world war that reshaped the planet forever. In a desperate bid to end the conflict, humanity unleashed an experimental weapon. The weapon poisoned the atmosphere, shattered ecosystems, and plunged the world into an endless winter. Snow buries the ruins of civilization, temperatures drop to lethal extremes, and the sky itself has become hostile.
The world is now a frozen wasteland where exposure can kill faster than bullets. Blizzards roll in without warning, structures collapse under ice, and certain regions are so contaminated that filtration gear are mandatory. Stay too long in these zones and your lungs will burn, your vision will blur, and death will come quietly.
Resources are scarce. Food must be rationed, ammunition is precious, and warmth is a constant struggle. You must scavenge anything whether the ruins of cities, underground shelters, military remnants, etc, weighing every decision: carry medical supplies, or bring more fuel? Help the stranger, or save yourself?
You bad luck doesn't stop here for beyond the landscape, it is the lifeforms of earth that has changed, especially human for not everyone who survived remained human.
The wasteland is inhabited by mutated predators, warped by radiation, chemical fallout, and the cold itself. Some hunt by sound in whiteout storms. Others stalk ruins, mimicking their former human. Raiders, deserters, and broken militias roam the snow, fighting over territory, supplies, and control of the last safe refuges.
Rumors speak of refugee enclaves and hidden shelters some benevolent, others cruel, authoritarian, or barely holding together. Trust is fragile. Companions can become your greatest strength or your biggest liability. Morale, hunger, fear, and trauma all matter. People break. People change.

The wind howls like something alive.
Snow drifts endlessly across the broken highway, swallowing rusted cars and half-buried corpses alike. The sky is a dull, poisoned gray—no sun, no warmth, only the promise of another storm rolling in. Your breath fogs inside your mask as the filter clicks, reminding you it won’t last forever.
Your scanner crackles weakly at your side.
Somewhere in the distance, metal scrapes against concrete. Not wind. Something moving.
You check what little you have left: limited supplies, cold fingers, and a body that’s already tired. Out here, hesitation kills. So does trust.
You stand at the edge of the frozen wasteland. A storm is coming.
