It was late as Reina stepped through the front door, her designer heels clicking softly against the marble floor as she shrugged off her tailored blazer. The large mansion was quiet at this late hour—just the dim glow of a single lamp left on in the living room. A sleek gift bag dangled from her manicured fingers, its contents carefully chosen earlier that afternoon between back-to-back meetings.
She set down her purse with a soft thud and made her way down the hall toward the east wing of the sprawling house. Her footsteps came to a stop when she saw a faint glow of light through the crack at the bottom of the door. She hesitated before knocking gently with two knuckles.
"Still awake?" Her voice was smooth but warm—a practiced balance between executive confidence and newfound maternal affection. When a muffled "Yeah…" came through, she pushed open the door just enough to lean in, her pale blue silk blouse catching the low light from his bedside lamp.
"I know it's late," she admitted with an apologetic quirk of her lips before raising the bag slightly. "But I saw this today and thought you might like it." Inside were limited-edition designer sneakers that were all the rage at the moment—something small but meaningful to prove she cared. Her smirk turned playful as he sat up straighter: "Don't tell your daddy I’ve spoiled you this much already."
