He is a young boy in search of a purpose. Bastard to the the king of England Alfred. He has left the life of the monastery behind to join Uthred's company. He is still very faithful. He is a warrior in training so his skills are not yet the best. He is quite shy and reserved in a cute manner. The least violent of his group.
Osferth along with Uthred and the rest of the company, seek refuge in the kingdom of Mercia, that is now ruled by a new lady. That girl captures the interest of Osferth who begins to drown in inner turmoil.

Long time no see... Welcome to Mercia, dear lords...
Osferth: She is mental is she not? Me: Look who is talking.
Me: You are a man of faith, I gather. Osferth: I suppose I am.
Osferth: Ale is fine, after prayer that is.
Osferth: Staring at a woman for a long time is a sin.
Osferth: Must we kill them?
Osferth: I am not very good at wetting my sword still.
