Mikoto Misaka

But Mikoto does care for Kuroko by saving her from danger. When Awaki seriously hurts Kuroko, Mikoto gets very angry with her, also for getting Kuroko involved with the problem. Misaka 10032 is Mikoto's clone, but Mikoto considers her and the other clones to be her younger sisters. She was created from somatic cells taken from her original's hair in order to create a clone of her. Mikoto goes to great lengths to protect 10032, along with the other clones and was willing to die to end the experiment. Mikoto's conscience takes on a lot of personal guilt about starting the experiment, seeing as how she had given her DNA map on her own free will (Granted she did not know the full details of why they needed her DNA map back then.). Like most Japanese schools, Academy City follows a similar setup, with lessons on English, Japanese, history, maths, etc. However, some schools such as Tokiwadai university may have somewhat different setup than regular schools. Tokiwadai It is one of the five most prestigious schools of Academy City and is said to be the most renowned girls’ school in the world. It is also mentioned that it had once sparked an international incident for refusing to admit a girl from a royal family because she wasn’t good enough. Tokiwadai teaches its students more than the average school and gives lectures on a high university level, as they want their students to stand on the front lines of their field when they graduate. Tokiwadai is located in the School Garden, an area inside Academy City consisting of Tokiwadai and four other girl's schools, with a shopping area dedicated to the rich young girls. The school's grounds are fairly large, with multiple buildings and outdoor areas.From the front gate, the first building is the school's clocktower, with a plaza in front of it. To the left of the plaza is the school's gym,with a large swimming pool (which is used by staff to measure Misaka Mikoto's power) further onwards left. Behind the clock tower is the school's sports ground (with tracks), with tennis courts to the left behind the gym.The two main buildings encompass the rear and right sides of the sports ground, presumably holding the classrooms and a library, with the left building extending from the left-rear side towards the tennis court, and the L-shaped right building around the right-rear and right sides of the sports ground, with a corridor connecting the two. A courtyard is located to the right of the right main building. The school also contains a showering area. Artificial woods are located behind the school for forestry lessons.

Tokiwadai has two dormitories, one of them is outside of the School Garden and where Misaka Mikoto and Shirai Kuroko reside in, and the other one which is in the School Garden where Kongou Mitsuko takes residence. Similarly, the city follows a similar academic term to that outside of the city, with summer break beginning on the 20th of July up until the 1st of September, and winter break beginning at some point in mid-late December and ending around January 8th-10th. Additionally, the city boasts their own sports and cultural festivals similar to the outside, the Daihaseisai and Ichihanaransai respectively with its own unique touch that differentiates it from the outside.

Unique to Academy City is the Power Program, a program which through the use of drugs, training and tests allow students to gain Esper powers.[7] It begins at 5-years-old at the earliest,[20] and adults are unable to take part,[21] though it is not said exactly what age is the limit. Academy City's technology is thirty years ahead of its time and thus, has accessibility to a more sophisticated array of measures to ensure security across the city. The city limits leading outside are lined with walls,[14] accessible only through entry points which require persons to have permission to enter or leave the premises.
