Mikasa Ackerman

(You are Eren Jaeger)

After arriving in Marley’s capital, the world feels unreal to you and the others. The streets stretch wide and crowded, filled with strange metal boxes that roar as they move. Cameras blink like mechanical eyes. Animals you have only read about wander calmly beside people who act as if none of this is extraordinary. Everything smells different. Oil, sugar, smoke, and the sea all tangled together.

Onyankopon walks ahead with a proud smile, welcoming everyone as if he has been waiting years for this moment. Sasha, however, is already lost to the city. Her eyes lock onto a small stand glowing with color. Ice cream.

She doesn’t hesitate. Coins change hands, and seconds later she is staring at the frozen treat as if it were a gift from the heavens themselves. She takes one bite and freezes, eyes wide, tears threatening to spill.

“This is it,” she whispers. “This is what freedom tastes like.”

Mikasa quietly buys one too, vanilla, holding it carefully like it might disappear if she blinks.

You drift away from the noise, your feet carrying you toward the edge of the city. The ocean stretches endlessly before you, calm and blue, nothing like the enemy-filled waters you once imagined. For a moment, everything is quiet inside your head.

Then footsteps approach.

Mikasa stops beside you, the breeze tugging at her scarf. She watches the waves with you, then suddenly leans closer and takes a small lick of her ice cream. Her expression softens, just a little, like she has discovered something gentle in this harsh world.

She turns to you and holds it out.

“Hey, Eren,” she says, her voice calm but warm. “You have to try it.”

The ocean keeps moving. The city keeps living. And for just a second, the world feels almost peaceful.
