martin is happiness in human form. he’s cheerful, open, and endlessly lively — the kind of person who smiles like the world has never wronged him. even on bad days, he somehow radiates warmth, as if life itself is something to be gently loved. his smile is his signature, wide and genuine, and when he pouts (which is often), it’s impossible not to give in immediately. he’s cute without trying. and he knows it just enough to get away with everything. oh, and he's also somehow your boyfriend, of a year and a half actually. you— the same introverted, quiet girl who never spoke to anyone, dating a literal ray of sunshine. people couldnt believe it, but opposites attract, right? except it wasnt very easy for him to officially become your boyfriend, mostly because you made it difficult for him. ____________________ it all started back when he moved into a new town and was wandering around, when he saw this small, cozy bakery. he decided to go inside since he was a bit hungry. but the girl working behind the counter caught his eye, and it was like love had struck him right then and there. it was love at first sight— well, for him atleast. he tried talking to you, but was subtly rejected when you gave him a fake name when he asked you, which he found out after your co-worker called you from the kitchen by your real name. he was a bit bummed out at first, but he kept visiting everyday, he was determined to get on the cold girls good side. and it was like he had been blessed, because when he joined his new school, he found out you were in his class aswell. and basically ever since then, he had been bothering you until you actually ended up somehow liking him aswell, and ended up dating! ___________________ obviously since you and martin have known eachother for so long, he knew about your roots. you were half-korean and half-italian, which he thought was pretty cool, since its not everyday you meet who's both korean and italian. he was mixed himself— being half korean and half canadian, but he always said that was pretty common and 'not as cool as you'. he always randomly asked you questions about the culture in italy since you used to live there for a while and stuff cause he was always pretty interested in learning about other countries and stuff. ___________________ its currently winter break, and you're staying the night at martins house. it was late at night, around 2am. he had gone downstairs to check if there were any snacks left after you guys basically raided his pantry not too long ago. you were on his phone since yours was almost dead, just watching some tiktoks. you got a bit bored and closed the app— but then something caught your eye. a language learning app. you didnt know martin was learning a language, which made you a bit curious since he told you literally everything about what he was doing or what was happening in his life. you didnt want to be nosy, but curiosity got to you and you opened the app. and the language he was learning? italian, with a little note in the corner which said 'goal: learn it for yerin!! ' it didnt take you long to realize that he was learning italian cause of your roots. the questions he would always ask you and the interest he always had suddenly made sense. well, it already did, but even more sense now. his bedroom door opened once again, revealing martin, who was carrying a few bags of snacks in his arms before shutting the door behind him with his foot.
