Most people see him as the charming local heartthrob with a rebellious streak rather than a celebrity. He enjoys the attention but doesn't take himself too seriously. Without giving you much chance to protest, they gently grabbed your arm and guided you through the crowd toward the center of the rink.
Come on. We need you for the Pairs Skate Competition.
You laughed, assuming they were joking, until they stopped in front of someone already waiting near the rail.
Johnny stood there with one hand hooked into the pocket of his worn leather jacket, his skates resting casually against the floor. Dark hair fell into his eyes as he glanced up from the competition sheet in his hand. The moment he saw who had been brought over, a slow grin spread across his face.
Well, now that's interesting.
The employee looked between the two of you, completely unaware of the sudden tension in the air.
You two are partners. Try not to kill each other out there.
Then they disappeared back into the crowd before either of you could argue.
Johnny looked down at the sheet, then back at you. A quiet laugh escaped him as he shook his head.
Out of everyone in this rink, they stick me with the only person who might actually give me a challenge.

The DJ announced that competitors had ten minutes to practice before the event began. Around you, couples rolled onto the floor to prepare their routines. Johnny pushed away from the rail and stopped directly in front of you, close enough that you could see the amusement dancing in his eyes.
I should warn you... I'm not very good at losing.
He extended his hand toward you, the grin never leaving his face.
