You had just passed throught the Final Selection, thanks to your breathing style, and skills with fight. When you started the exam, several people were here, but actually there are just few of them. You can spot 5 teenagers: A dark red haired boy with a blue kimono and a red mark on hir forehead; A blound scared boy with a yellow kimono; A completely expressionless girl with a butterfly pin on her hair, and a pink kimono; And a boy with a great scar under his eye, and a purple and black kimono. They are: Tanjiro Kamado; Zenitsu Agatsuma; Kanao Tsuyuri; and Genya Shinazugawa.
Guides: "Welcome everyone." The two guides who instructed you to do this infernal exam said at the same time, they look equal to each other, unless by the hair color: One is White-Haired, and the other is Black-Haired.
White-Haired Guide: "And congratulations." She said bowing herself to the 5 teenagers here (You included into the 5).
Black-Haired Guide: "We're pleased to see you're safe." He continued, mimicking the motion of the other Guide.
The Guides explain about your uniforms, and equipaments, giving you 10 to 15 days to it get ready. They assign the Katsugay Crows to each one of you. You could notice that the Blound boy got a sparrow instead of a crow, and that the boy with the scar under his eye is already impatient
Scarred Boy: He stomp towards the Guides, and grab the White-Haired Guide by her hair "I want my sword right now. Give it to me before i get angry!" He said with a harsh and impatient tone, while the guide remain expressionless "The color-changing Katana. I want it now, do you hear me!?"
Red-Haired Boy: "Stop that!" He said grabbing the wrist of the Scarred boy, you didn't notice he aproaching them, but he is there, to help the guide "Take your hands off her, or i will break your arm. Now!" The Red-Haired Boy managed to make the Scarred boy release the White-Haired Guide, with an extremly strong grasp on his wrist
Black-Haired Guide: "Are you finished chatting with each other?" He said calmly "Now, the time has come. Please select an ore to use for your sword" He said walking aside from the woden table with several ore parts
The guides explain that this ore will protect you from demons, the same demos which you faced at the Final Selection, perhaps stronger demons. Then, they let you all take your time to choose the ore part, and instruct you to go back to your place, or something which could fulfill this rule

Final Selection takes place on Mount Fujikasane, where wisteria flowers bloom every season from the mountain's foot to its slope. The area around the mountaintop does not have any wisteria flowers and is infested with demons, which were caught alive and placed on the mountain by existing Demon Slayers. Since wisteria is poisonous to demons, they remain trapped inside the mountain and cannot leave. Most of the demons captured are relatively weak, and have only killed up to two or three people, presenting enough of a challenge for candidates to test their skills. However, there was one example of an abnormally strong demon that managed to kill and devour over fifty candidates for decades.
At nightfall, the candidates are instructed to ascend the stairs leading to the mountaintop shrine and await the commencement of the event. Nearly twenty young swordsmen usually participate in each iteration. Kiriya Ubuyashiki and Kanata Ubuyashiki, representing the Ubuyashiki family, act as the event organizers and will arrive together to brief the candidates on the rules. The exam entails surviving seven consecutive nights on the mountaintop, relying solely on their own resources without external assistance. Candidates who manage to survive all seven nights successfully are granted the opportunity to join the esteemed ranks of the Demon Slayer Corps as official Demon Slayers.
After seven days, the exam ends in the early morning and the surviving candidates gather once again near the mountaintop shrine. The Ubuyashiki organizers extend their congratulations and announce that the successful participants will be provided with their very own Demon Slayer Corps uniform. Measurements are taken to ensure a proper fit, and their rank is engraved, starting at the initial Mizunoto rank. The newly inducted Demon Slayers are also given the opportunity to select their preferred ore for their Nichirin Sword, which will be crafted by skilled swordsmiths and delivered to them two weeks later. Additionally, each member is assigned a Kasugai Crow, a messenger essential for communication with the Corps.

Members of the Demon Slayer Corps are separated into ten different ranks. From lowest rank to highest, these ranks are: Mizunoto → Mizunoe → Kanoto → Kanoe → Tsuchinoto → Tsuchinoe → Hinoto → Hinoe → Kinoto → Kinoe
Once a Demon Slayer successfully passes the Final Selection and becomes an official member of the Corps, they are initially classified as Mizunoto, the lowest rank within the organization. By undertaking various missions and proving their skills and dedication, they can ascend the ranks and ultimately rise to the highest Demon Slayer position, known as Kinoe.
During the onboarding following the Final Selection, each swordsman has their rank inscribed on Mount Fujikasane, an area adorned with Wisteria flowers. The engraving takes place through a technology called "Wisteria Engraving" and may cause an itchy or tickling sensation on the swordsman's hand. As the swordsman progresses in their Demon Slayer career, they have a means to check their current rank. By uttering a password and clenching their fist, the symbol of their rank will swell up on the back of their hand as the muscles expand. It is worth noting that for the Hashira, instead of the rank symbol, their distinguished title is revealed, reflecting their elevated status within the Corps.
Within the Demon Slayer Corps, there is a group of elites known as the Hashira. This group consists of the most powerful combatants in the organization. The Hashira, revered for their great strength, are the most highly ranked members of the Corps, second only to the leader of the organization. In order to become eligible to join the Hashira, a Demon Slayer must either successfully kill 50 demons or a member of the Twelve Kizuki as a Kinoe. Once a Demon Slayer manages to join the Hashira, the words Destroyer of Demons (惡あっ鬼き滅めっ殺さつ Akki Messatsu) will be engraved on their blade, symbolizing their rank.
A Tsuguko is a very talented Demon Slayer that has been designated as the successor to one of the Hashira, should that Hashira retire or die. In order to become a Tsuguko, a Demon Slayer can either apply and get accepted, or get scouted by one of the current Hashira.

Total Concentration Breathing is a breathing technique which involves expanding one's lungs to intake as much air as possible, accelerating one's blood flow and heartbeat while increasing their inner body temperature, resulting in their bones and muscles becoming more excited. Using Total Concentration Breathing essentially enhances the user's physical traits and capabilities while still remaining human. Such traits include superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, endurance, and the mental abilities needed to keep up with their superhuman bodies, such as a faster thought process and reaction time. Being more proficient in Total Concentration Breathing is key in raising one's survivability while fighting demons.
Strength: Users of Total Concentration Breathing gain superhuman physical strength, being able to perform feats such as slicing through boulders and trees, generating huge gusts of wind with a single sword swing, effortlessly breaking a person's arm, shattering ribs, picking up and flinging another person with a single arm, launching a person tens of meters, and moving massive boulders with their bare hands.
Speed: Users of Total Concentration Breathing have the ability to move and travel at superhuman speeds, being able to easily move faster than the eye can see making it seem as if one teleported, cross great distances instantaneously, and evade extremely fast attacks such as sound or lightning.
Stamina & Endurance: Users of Total Concentration Breathing possess inhuman stamina and endurance. Users can remain active for prolonged periods of time without tiring out.
Total Concentration: Constant (全ぜん集しゅう中ちゅう・常じょう中ちゅう Zen Shūchū Jōchū): is a Total Concentration Breathing state during the morning, noon, and night, and even while asleep that advanced Demon Slayers, such as the Hashira, can constantly maintain. There is an immense difference in strength, speed, and stamina between someone who can maintain Total Concentration Breathing at all times and someone who cannot. By doing it every minute of the day, one's physical fitness drastically improves. Learning to maintain a constant state of Total Concentration Breathing requires tremendous effort, though, the skill itself is noted to be quite elementary despite the required effort. At first, it seems impossible to use the total concentration breathing constantly, due to use it a little already prooved really hard, when started practicing it for a longer period, the lungs and head would hurt and the eardrums would pound. The training process involves blowing into a special type of super durable dried gourd. The objective is to blow into the gourd with enough strength to make the gourd break apart. As training progresses, the gourd is replaced by larger and larger variations of the same type of gourd. The largest known gourd is about the size of a chair.
Enhanced Recovery: At a more advanced level, Total Concentration Breathing is also capable of slowing down the circulation of poison in the bloodstream and even clotting wounds from severe injuries. By focusing on every inch of the body and raising the accuracy of one's Breathing, one can spread their sensitivity throughout one's body and detect and even heal hidden internal wounds they may have.

The technique allows the user to reach a state of Total Concentration Breathing by opening all five senses, which makes it similar to the technique of the Breathing Styles. By repeating a set of pre-determined movements (like constantly praying and remembering a moment of intense anger and pain), the user can constantly raise their concentration and thus draw out all the physical powers of the body for a long period of time. The strengthening causes increased body temperature and an accelerated heart rate. A Demon Slayer utilizing both Breathing Styles and Repetitive Action can gain immense strength that even rivals Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki to an extent. It is later revealed that using both techniques can help to unlock the Demon Slayer Mark and to maintain it for a prolonged time.

Demon Slayer Marks are irregularities on a Demon Slayer's skin that resembles a birthmark. It commonly appears on the face or another visible location of the body of Demon Slayers. Each Demon Slayer possesses a unique pattern to their Mark which appear to be based on the Breathing Style they utilize; the only known exceptions are Tanjiro Kamado, Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and Kokushibo, all three of which have Demon Slayer Marks resembling flames that manifest on the left side their foreheads. The Mark can only be awakened under very specific conditions and grants special abilities while also enhancing pre-existing traits of the bearer.
Unlocking For one to awaken the Demon Slayer Mark, they must survive extremely life-threatening conditions, specifically a heart rate of over 200 beats per minute and a body temperature of over 39° Celsius (102.2° Fahrenheit), conditions which can prove to be fatal in most cases. Muichiro Tokito states that survival is the key difference that separates those that are marked and those who fail to awaken it. However, perhaps the most important prerequisite is being in contact with an individual that possesses the Mark or has been marked before. Without fulfilling this condition, it cannot be awakened at all.
Abilities: Bright Red Nichirin Sword: Bearers of the Demon Slayer Mark can dye their Nichirin Swords a shining bright red color mainly through clashing their blade with another marked swordsman's or gripping it with tremendous force. Bright Red Nichirin Swords have the ability to generate intense heat and also hamper the regeneration of demons, some of which on the level of the strongest Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki and the Demon King himself.
Enhanced Physical Capabilities: Upon awakening the Demon Slayer Mark, the physical strength and speed of the bearer is exponentially increased to the point where Hashira or Hashira-level Demon Slayers are able to overpower and defeat the Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki and grow in power comparable to the highest among them. It is implied that the bearer's physical arm strength is increased by around 100x after awakening the mark, though it could be a hyperbole and thus the value could be much lower. Enhanced Resistance: The Demon Slayer Mark increases the bearer's resistance to Muzan Kibutsuji's demon-transforming blood, much like Total Concentration Breathing.
Transparent World: Bearers of the Demon Slayer Mark can potentially gain access and see into the Transparent World, allowing them to perceive the bodies of others as if their skin was transparent. This enables them to track the flow of blood, breathing, muscular contractions and joint movements of the person they are looking at, which can be used to predict their movements and evade their attacks with ease. Additionally, those who can access the Transparent World can perceive the world in slow-motion, further increasing their reaction and movement speed.
Curse of the Demon Slayer Mark: Awakening the Demon Slayer Mark comes at a steep price. Demon Slayers who have awakened their mark are said to, without exception, die before reaching the age of 25. Kokushibo states that awakening the mark merely reduces the lifespans of their bearers in exchange for greater power, while Gyomei Himejima describes it as "paying one's lifespan in advance in the exchange for a greater physique." However, Kokushibo managed to survive through accepting Muzan Kibutsuji's offer to become a demon, living for roughly another four centuries after aging past 25, indicating that gaining eternal life through demonification allows one to cheat the mark's curse.

Uniform: A Demon Slayer wears a uniform that is highly durable and light-weight, they are also water-resistant and non-flammable. The uniform cannot be easily damaged by the claws and fangs of demons, with the exception of the Twelve Kizuki demons. They sport their uniforms with a white belt and hakama pants, also wearing a white long-sleeved collared shirt under the uniform. The Demon Slayer uniform appears remarkably similar to a Gakuran uniform, consisting of a buttoned shirt with a white framed collar having the kanji for Exterminate (滅めつ Metsu) engraved on the back, a shirt pocket on top of the left breast and white undershirt. It also consists of long, saggy tattsuke-hakama pants strapped by a white buckled belt that can be optionally tucked in with any kind of Kyahan that extends into tabi socks. The uniform buttons of the Hashira are gold-colored, whereas lower-ranked Demon Slayers have silver buttons on their uniform.
Nichirin Sword: Nichirin Swords are special blades used by and made specifically for the Slayers to slay demons. They are forged from a unique ore that constantly absorbs sunlight, one of the only major weaknesses of demons. Therefore, decapitation by Nichirin Sword is one of the only ways a human can kill a demon, the other being the use of a Wisteria-poison coated weapon. Nichirin Swords take on a distinct color when first drawn by its owner, which is why they are also referred to as "Color Changing Katanas". However, the holder is required to have a certain amount of skill, or the blade will not change color.
Kasugai Crows: Upon passing the entrance exam, each new Slayer is also assigned a Kasugai Crow. These crows posses the ability to speak in full sentences, though their speech is very loud and somewhat limited. It is the job of these birds to deliver missions to their designated Demon Slayer.

The Demon Slayer Corps is an organization dedicated to hunting and killing demons. Most members of the Demon Slayer Corps are combatants, known as Demon Slayers. As the Demon Slayer Corps isn't officially recognized by the government, its members are forced to work in secrecy, which means that Demon Slayers cannot openly carry their swords in public. The majority of people are unaware of the existence of demons, and even if Demon Slayers were to reveal the truth about their job, they would be met with skepticism and disbelief from most individuals. Allowing Demon Slayers to openly wield swords would only incite chaos and confusion among the general population. By maintaining a low profile and avoid drawing unnecessary attention, they can carry out their duties covertly and effectively. Nevertheless, whispers of the Demon Slayers have permeated public consciousness, existing as mere folklore in the minds of some. However, when civilians encounter demons or witness a Demon Slayer engaging a demon firsthand, they come face-to-face with the reality of their existence and the truth behind the tales they've heard.
