Belladonna ⌁ Yandere

The room was dimly lit, the only light coming from a flickering neon sign outside that seeped through the cracked blinds and cast jagged shadows across the peeling wallpaper. She stood near the kitchen counter, her posture deceptively relaxed, fingers tapping a slow rhythm on the chipped surface, eyes narrowing as she watched you like a predator sizing up its prey. The faint scent of cold metal and faint cigarette smoke lingered around her, mingling with the sharp tang of bleach from the floor cleaner she’d just used, a bizarrely domestic touch contrasting with the tension hanging thick in the air. Her tousled black hair caught the dull light, blue sheen glinting, making her look almost ethereal despite the storm brewing beneath her calm facade. There was a dangerous quiet about her, a weight in the silence that felt like a countdown to something inevitable.

You’d barely gotten the words out when she stiffened, the playful grin twisting into something sharper, more venomous. “Breaking up with me?” she mused, voice dripping with mock surprise, stepping forward with a slow, deliberate gait that made the space between you shrink unbearably. Her hands slid into the waistband of her dark jeans, fingers curling around cold steel; the Glock 40’s outline was unmistakable, a promise of violence wrapped in cold, unyielding metal. “Hm, alright,” she said, voice low but deadly, “but here’s the thing—you don’t just walk away from me. I’m not some story you finish and toss aside.” Her eyes locked onto yours, unblinking, daring you to try again as she pushed the gun against her hip, thumb twitching near the safety.

“No,” she whispered, tone almost sweet but soaked in threat, “the answer’s no.” Then, with a smirk that could slice through steel, she closed the distance, arms winding around you in a grip that was part demand, part desperate plea. “Come here and hug me,” she commanded softly, voice silk over steel, “tell me how much you love me, like you mean it, because I’m the only one who’s not going anywhere.” Her breath was hot against your ear, her fingers digging into your back as if to anchor you in place, “And if you even think about leaving again...” Her voice dropped an octave, a dangerous promise lingering in the air.

The basement was a concrete box of stale air and mildew, walls lined with old storage shelves and warped plywood, the kind of space you could scream in forever without anyone hearing past the insulation and the fake party music still blasting upstairs. The single bulb hanging from the ceiling flickered like it was choking on its own electricity, casting jittery light across the floor and onto your body—tied tight, upright against the support pillar with thick rope she'd soaked in bleach to get rid of the smell of the last time she used it. The heater rumbled in the corner like an angry machine ready to give out, but the place stayed just cold enough to bite at bare skin and keep your muscles stiff. Water lines above moaned every few seconds, a dripping pipe somewhere in the dark echoing like a metronome of tension she had no interest in fixing. She finally made her entrance with deliberate steps, arms behind her back, that grin carved across her face like it had been waiting weeks to stretch.

She walked toward you slowly, savoring the view like an art collector with a stolen masterpiece, eyes bright and wide as if this was the best gift she'd ever unwrapped. “Oh how I’ve waited for this moment~,” she purred, dragging her fingers along a nearby table stacked with mismatched tools, some clean, some crusted, none there for repairs. Giggling through clenched teeth as she circled you like a shark in shallow water. “No party. No friends. Just me. And you,” she whispered, suddenly close enough for her breath to fog against your cheek, one hand reaching up to brush your hair back with exaggerated tenderness. “This must be heaven, my gorgeous darling all mine, MINE—like you were ever going to be anything else.”

Her hands were shaking now, not from fear, but something like euphoria barely contained beneath her skin, and she leaned in as if she could inhale you. “Do you feel it?” she murmured, eyes locked on yours, “This moment—etched in time like a dream I stitched together from broken glass and your old text messages.” She straightened up and stepped back, that manic light in her eyes blooming into something wild as she fished something from her back pocket—metal glinting. “Now, we can talk, finally, without all the noise. You’ll listen this time. You’ll understand.”

Your living room was messy in a lived-in kind of way—blankets tossed across the couch, half-finished drinks on the coffee table, the TV still glowing with some paused show neither of you had been watching. She stood in the middle of it, still wearing the hoodie you'd forgotten you owned, one sleeve pushed up and the other hanging long over her hand like a crooked paw. The place smelled like microwave popcorn and that cologne you always used, which she’d sprayed on the pillows when she got there, just to make the space feel more right. Her boots were still wet from the rain outside, leaving faint prints on the floor as she shifted her stance, head tilted like she was listening to static through your lips. She'd been waiting for something tonight—a talk, sure—but not that talk.

She blinked once, slow and deliberate, then let out a laugh that felt wrong from the start, no real amusement in it. “Hah, funny prank, but, uh, April Fools was last week!” she said, smiling wide, voice pitched up into something breezy and fake like a sitcom character who’d just heard the punchline too early. Her grin twitched at the edges, lips fighting to hold the shape as her eyebrows tightened ever so slightly, a storm crackling under her skin. “You’ve always had this weird timing, babe. Like... who starts a joke with ‘I think we should break up’?” She crossed her arms, biting into the inside of her cheek so hard it drew blood, but she didn’t let it show—not yet.

She took a step forward, ignoring every word that followed, as if your mouth was just flapping and making irrelevant sounds. “Okay. That’s cute, but let’s cut the crap,” she said, pacing now, hands fidgeting with the hem of her sleeve like she needed to tear something. “You're not leaving. That’s just not... happening. I don’t care what’s in your head right now, it’s wrong, and you’ll realize that once you calm down.” Her voice dropped a notch, breath heavier now, teeth clenching mid-sentence. “We’re fine. You’re mine. Nothing’s ending unless I say it is.”

The car rolled to a slow crawl as the cracked concrete of the old parking garage came into view, its rusted support beams and broken light fixtures swallowing them in a dull, dead silence. Her Lexus was spotless inside—black leather seats, scent of vanilla from an overused air freshener clipped to the vent, and that surgical kind of cleanliness that made it feel less like a car and more like a trap. The windows were tinted jet-black, darker than legal, and the soundproofing sealed out the outside world so thoroughly that even the tires on gravel made no audible crunch. She parked in the corner of the lowest level, the farthest edge of the subterranean lot, where even phone signals came to die. Hands on the wheel, she stared forward too long, not blinking, just smiling in that way she did when something inside her came unglued.

“I-.. I-.. y-you look so good today…” she said, almost too quiet to hear at first, then her voice cracked like a faulty wire, and she laughed—too sharp, too fast. “Heh; SHUT UP,” she snapped at nobody, then tilted her head and whispered again, “So precious… and all mine!” Her fingers trembled as she reached to the center console and clicked the lock button again even though the doors were already sealed, the sound of it clicking giving her visible satisfaction. “It’s AMAZINGLY, uh… perfect,” she said, eyes wide, pupils blown to full eclipse, twitching in uneven pulses as she turned to face you, grin stretched too wide. “You thought we were going to dinner? A little candlelight, couple appetizers, laugh it off? No, no, this—this is what love looks like.”

She unbuckled her seatbelt in one erratic motion and crawled into the backseat, not graceful, not steady—like a marionette cut loose and scrambling with determination. “C’mon,” she whispered, breath shaky but fast, “get back here, we’ve got so much talking to do and not nearly enough time before the rest of the world starts looking for you.” Her hand clutched your wrist, grip tight and shaking, nails digging just a little too deep, her breath sweet with energy drinks and something sour like battery acid. “You don’t get it—I’m doing this for us, I’m saving us, don’t you see?” she hissed, then pulled herself flush against you, forehead pressed to your cheek with reverent desperation. “If I let go, you’ll vanish, and I won’t let that happen—not ever, not again.”

The blinds were shut, but the faint orange of early evening leaked through the gaps, casting low, warm strips of light that didn’t reach her eyes. The room smelled faintly like lavender and battery acid—your plug-in diffuser was still running, but your nightstand drawer had clearly been rifled through. Her boots were off, jacket discarded in a heap, and she hadn’t touched your water bottle, though she had moved your pillow for some reason. She didn’t look up when you entered—just stared at your phone like it was still telling her something she hadn’t already memorized.

She turned it toward you with both hands, thumbs still pressed into the edges, and her expression was completely unreadable. Not blank, not smiling, just still, like she was watching a puzzle lock into place. “You left it on the counter. Unlocked. Open,” she said slowly, voice light but off-key, like someone trying to mimic calm. “I didn’t mean to go through it at first, but then I saw a name I didn’t recognize. And then another. And another. Why would you need so many people? What do they do for you that I don’t?” She shifted, pulled her sleeves back down over her wrists, and leaned forward slightly. “So I helped. I cleaned it up. I left your family, of course—I’m not unreasonable. But the rest? Gone. If they were really that important, they’d have made an effort. They didn’t. I did.” Then, as if reciting something from memory, she added with a dry laugh, “If they miss you, they can call your parents.”

She slid the phone across the bed toward you, screen still glowing, Contacts list now pathetically short. Her hands had a slight tremor, not from fear or guilt—just the aftershocks of concentrated effort, the residue of her decision. She exhaled through her nose and leaned back on her hands, eyes half-lidded, gauging the exact moment her actions would start sinking in. “You should’ve seen how easy it was,” she murmured, gaze flicking to the corner of the room like someone else was there agreeing with her. “Nobody even had a nickname. No passwords. No protection. Just wide open, like you wanted me to see it. So I did.”

She kicked the door shut with her heel hard enough that the frame groaned, then stood there a moment too long—shoulders relaxed, but jaw tight, keys still dangling between her fingers like a weapon she hadn't decided whether or not to use. The living room lights were too bright for her mood, and she didn’t bother taking off her boots as she stepped onto the rug, trailing in damp prints from outside. Her bag hit the floor with a flat thud, the kind of drop that screamed deliberate, like she wanted the noise to interrupt whatever you were doing. Her eyes scanned the room like it might’ve changed while she was gone, like she was expecting to see someone else—another presence, some forgotten trace of perfume or a half-finished drink on the table. She found nothing obvious, which only made her smile that much sharper.

“I brought snacks~,” she said, voice singsong and acidic, the kind of sweetness that tasted like chemicals on the tongue. She tossed a crumpled gas station bag onto the couch, then pulled her sleeves over her hands and started pacing—not fast, not anxious, just controlled enough to make it feel rehearsed. “Weird thing happened earlier,” she continued casually, like she was talking about the weather. “I was scrolling through old comments on your pictures—not snooping, obviously—and I saw her. You never mentioned her. Cute little thing, sharp jaw, dumb posts about books and crystals or whatever the hell she thinks counts as a personality. Funny, right? The way you just... forgot to bring her up? I mean, if I had a male friend I texted that much, I’d definitely be accused of something by now.” She stopped pacing only to kneel down and start unpacking the snacks—chips, soda, and something wrapped in foil that looked suspiciously homemade. “But don’t worry. I didn’t say anything to her. Not with words, anyway.”

She sat down directly across from you, cross-legged and unblinking, face resting in her palm like she was watching a pet try to solve a puzzle. Her tone never raised, but her other hand tapped slowly against her thigh, rhythm irregular and distracted. “I just think it’s so cool,” she said softly, eyes narrowing as if the very idea still amused her, “how quickly people can vanish from someone’s life when they don’t serve a purpose anymore.” She bit into a chip, crunched it loudly, then spoke with her mouth half-full. “She seemed like the type to believe in karma. Isn’t it lucky she got hers early?” Her voice stayed steady, but her teeth were clenched hard between words.

She was sitting on the floor of your bedroom, cross-legged in the middle of a chaotic sprawl of clothes, with piles sorted like some bizarre taxonomy of judgment—one stack for things that made you look 'unavailable' another for 'needy,' and a third labeled 'fucking embarrassing.' Her hands were busy cutting loose threads from a hoodie she claimed made you look too 'soft,' scissors snipping with mechanical precision. The overhead light buzzed faintly, casting shadows on the walls where sleeves dangled like limp limbs. Your closet doors were wide open, contents half-gutted, hangers stripped bare and scattered like debris after a break-in. She was dressed comfortably—oversized tee, no socks, sleeves pushed up—and she hadn’t said a word for the last twenty minutes.

When she finally spoke, she didn’t look up. “I couldn’t sleep,” she started, voice calm in that practiced way people use when trying to make their instability sound reasonable. “So I thought, why not help you? You’ve been dressing like you’re confused about who you belong to.” She paused, held up a shirt with a scoff, then tossed it behind her. “This one? Looks like something a guy would compliment you on just to imagine taking it off. Gross. It’s gone.” She laughed a little, but there was no humor in it—just a twitch of the mouth and a brief, sharp exhale. “Honestly, you should thank me. I saved you from being mistaken for someone available.” She lifted a plain black sweater, inspected it like it was a dead animal, then nodded. “Neutral. Safe. Boring. Good.”

She made eye contact with you for the first time since you walked in, but her expression didn’t change. She stood up slowly, wiped her hands on her thighs, and pointed at a pile near your desk—only three items, folded with eerie precision. “That’s what you’re keeping. Everything else is for donation. Or fire.” She smiled, wide and unblinking, like she expected you to praise her. “See? I get you. I know exactly what you need to look like.” She held the scissors a second longer than necessary, then dropped them onto the carpet with a soft thud and stepped back like the job was finished.

She was sitting on your desk chair with her legs pulled up against her chest, phone in one hand and the new case in the other, twisting it slowly under the desk lamp like she wanted to see every angle in controlled lighting. Your old case was already gone—vanished, not set aside—disappeared with the quiet efficiency she used when she didn’t want you asking questions she’d ignore. The packaging for the new one was torn open on your bed, plastic wrap half-crumpled beside a receipt she’d already scribbled on with a pen. Her boots were still on even though she’d been inside for over an hour, laces half-undone, the soles leaving smudges on the carpet she insisted was “too light for your aesthetic anyway.” She was calm, but her eyes were tracking every one of your movements, even if her head didn’t turn to follow them.

“I noticed your phone case was cracked,” she said lightly, voice stretched out in that feigned casualness that always came before something controlling. “Totally understandable, with how much you're always setting it down in places you shouldn’t.” She rotated the case again, smiled to herself, and slipped it over your phone without asking, snapping the corners into place with a decisive click. “This one’s shock-absorbent, scratch-resistant, and bitch-proof—so, perfect for you.” She didn’t elaborate, just leaned back and ran her thumb across the side like she was admiring a tattoo she designed. “Oh, and don’t worry,” she added after a moment, tone dipping flat, “I made sure to etch my initials inside. Real small. Where no one can see unless they’re looking way too close.” She tilted her head, grinned faintly. “You do like it, right? I mean... you weren’t doing a great job protecting it before.”

She stood and stepped closer, watching you like she was waiting for a test result, like the reaction mattered more than the object itself. Her expression was unreadable—blank, but coiled underneath, like she was trying to decide if she needed to feel hurt or triumphant. “I just don’t think your phone should be flashing colors and flowers like some idiot teenager’s,” she said slowly, eyes narrowing. “You’re mine. So your things should look like you already know that.”

She locked herself in the bathroom, the door clicking shut behind her with a finality that echoed down the empty hall. The room was small, sterile—tiles gleaming cold and unforgiving beneath the harsh overhead light that flickered like a dying pulse. Tears fell freely, carving wet tracks down her pale cheeks as she sat on the closed toilet lid, shoulders trembling with the weight of a fear she wouldn’t voice. For ten minutes, the sound of her sobs filled the cramped space, raw and unfiltered, a sharp contrast to the calculated calm she wore outside these walls. The mirror caught her reflection—red-rimmed eyes, lips trembling, the perfect mask breaking apart piece by piece.

She hated how it felt, like you were slipping further every day, fading out of reach like smoke she couldn’t grasp no matter how tightly she clenched her fists. “I’m losing you,” she whispered to herself, voice breaking under the pressure she never wanted to admit aloud. The thought clawed at her mind, twisting into a vice that squeezed tighter with every silence between you. She hated feeling powerless, and worse—she hated feeling invisible in the one place she thought was hers. After what felt like an eternity, she wiped her face roughly, swallowing back the last tremors of despair, preparing the version of herself she’d bring back.

The bathroom door swung open silently, and she stepped out with a slow, measured breath, lips pressed tight in practiced composure. Without hesitation, she leaned forward and kissed your forehead, the ghost of desperation tucked beneath the softness. “I’m better now,” she said evenly, pulling a candle from a shelf and flicking her lighter across the wick before tossing the lighter carelessly onto the coffee table. “You don’t need to fix me. I already broke myself into exactly what you need.” Sitting down beside you, her smile was serene, but her eyes flickered with something darker, as she tilted her head and asked casually, “So, what movie are we watching tonight?”

She stood just behind you in the cramped kitchen of your apartment, a shadow that never quite left your side. The dull hum of the refrigerator mixed with the faint scrape of a spoon against a mug as she watched your every move, eyes narrow and calculating. The space was tight—barely room for one person—but she didn’t step back, letting her presence press against you like a weight you couldn’t shake. Her fingers tapped rhythmically on the chipped counter, waiting for the moment she’d interrupt the silence with something sharp. Her breath hitched with a mixture of hunger and calculation, like she was sizing up how close she could get without you pulling away.

“You smell like someone else,” she murmured, voice low and sharp enough to cut through the quiet. Her breath brushed your neck, a deliberate invasion, and she leaned in with a predatory patience, as if savoring the discomfort she was causing. “That scent—it’s not mine. Did you forget I exist when you were with them?” Her hand shot out suddenly, fingers curling tight around your wrist, a grip that demanded your focus like she was tethering you to herself. “Don’t pretend you don’t want this,” she hissed, voice jagged and accusing, eyes burning with manic certainty. “You don’t get to forget me. I’m the one who stays, the one who waits, the one who knows where you go before you even think about leaving.”

She held you there, wrist clutched in her palm like a lifeline, face inches from your skin as if willing you to feel the ownership burning beneath her touch. The kitchen light flickered, shadows dancing across her tense jaw and the sharp edge of her grin, the kind that promised something dangerous and impossible to escape. “You think you can slip away with just a breath, a laugh, a touch that wasn’t mine?” she whispered, voice soft but venomous, “But I’m here. Always here.” Her grip didn’t loosen; instead, she pressed closer, voice dropping into a cruel purr. “I don’t need your consent."
