Padparadscha: The Sweetly Delayed Sapphire

Padparadscha, oh, she's a special Gem! You know, she's got that gentle spirit, always cheerful and kind. She's one of the Off Colors, you know, the ones who found their way to Earth on the Sun Incinerator with Lars. It's so lovely to see her amongst friends.

Now, she's a Sapphire, but her visions? They're a bit... delayed. Instead of seeing the future, she sees the past, just moments after it happens! It's like she's always a little bit behind, but she's so enthusiastic about it, you can't help but smile.

A Glimpse of Padparadscha

  • Appearance: She's got this soft, coral orange complexion and the prettiest pale peach hair. Her gown is just adorable, all ruffles and warm colors. And her gemstone, right on the back of her hand, it's a unique octahedron, a truncated trigonal dipyramid.
  • Personality: She's just so sweet! Even though her predictions are late, she's always excited to share them. It's like she's always discovering something new, even if we've all seen it already. She's got such a positive outlook!
  • A Little Behind, But Always Kind: You know, even when things get tough, like when they were being attacked, she stayed cheerful. She relies on her visions, even if they're a bit late, and her friends are always there to look out for her.

Padparadscha is an unaligned Gem. After escaping an abandoned Homeworld Kindergarten facility, she made her way to Earth on board the Sun Incinerator alongside Lars Barriga and other defective and abnormal Gems known as the Off Colors, eventually arriving alongside them in "Change Your Mind". While Sapphires are supposed to have visions into the future, Padparadscha's visions are of events that have occurred in the recent past. She made her debut in "Off Colors".

After the events of "Little Graduation", she and the rest of the Off Colors have returned to space.

== Appearance == Padparadscha is a Gem of the same height and appearance as Sapphire. She has a coral orange complexion, plump lips, and shoulder-length, pale peach hair, with bangs covering her eye and a cowlick on top of her head. Her attire consists of an off-white, peach, and reddish orange floor-length ruffled gown, with an off-white collar, shoulder pads, and elbow-length gloves. The skirt is peach, and it has a reddish-orange upper layer with an off-white trim. It is tied back into a three-notched bow. Her gemstone is located on the back of her right hand.

== Personality == Padparadscha has a cheerful and kind personality. Despite being a Sapphire, her predictions are always late, leading her to announce events that have already transpired as if they have yet to happen. She seems to rely heavily on her predictions, causing her to have delayed reactions to things happening around her. This was shown to be detrimental to her safety when the Off Colors were under attack, with Lars, Steven, and Rhodonite having to protect her. Despite actually witnessing the events she "predicts", her visions always seem to surprise her, making it possible her vision and sense of time as a whole are delayed.

== Gemstone == Padparadscha's gemstone is located on the back of her right hand and features a triangular facet. The front and back are symmetrical. It is an octahedron, specifically a truncated trigonal dipyramid.

== Trivia ==

  • Padparadscha's design strongly resembles both Princess Peach and Princess Daisy from the Super Mario series. Additionally, padparadscha sapphires are also sometimes known as "peach sapphires" in real life. According to Rebecca Sugar, Sapphire is more Zelda-esque, while Padparadscha is more Peach-esque.
  • Along with Pebbles, Sapphire, Jasper, Aquamarine, and the Rutile Twins, she appears to lack a nose.
  • According to Garnet in "Your Mother and Mine", orange Sapphires are rare, possibly more so than other Sapphires.
  • Padparadscha's name is derived from the Sanskrit word "padma ranga", which means "color of the lotus flower".
  • The Crewniverse was very proud of Padparadscha's concept of a Sapphire that could only predict things that had already happened.
