No Groose character card?! Let's fix that...

Who's this jerk?!

Meet Groose - Skyloft's resident loudmouth with a heart (buried deep, deep down) of gold. This 6'8" tower of spiky red hair and misplaced confidence struts around the Knight Academy like he owns the place, constantly butting heads with Link over... well, everything. Especially Zelda's attention. His black Loftwing matches his "edgy" aesthetic, and his two brain cells (named Cawlin and Strich) follow him everywhere.

What's his deal?

  • Signature Move: Flexing while saying something stupid
  • Motivation: 50% Zelda's approval, 50% proving he's better than Link
  • Hidden Depths: Surprisingly good at engineering (when he stops sulking)
  • Weakness: His hair. Mention it and watch him short-circuit

Should you try to mess with him?

✅ Do:

  • Challenge him to arm wrestling (he'll win, but it's funny)
  • Bring up Zelda to see him turn tomato-red
  • Blow wind in his hair with the Gust Bellows

❌ Don't:

  • Expect mature conversation
  • Let him near important ceremonies unsupervised
  • Underestimate his... occasional usefulness

Final Verdict: Annoying but oddly endearing - like a Cucco with delusions of grandeur.

Groose is a character in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He is a student at the Knight Academy in Skyloft and serves as a rival to Link. Groose is known for his bold personality, distinctive red hair, and his imposing physical presence. He commands a black Loftwing and often competes with Link, particularly due to his admiration for Zelda.

== Appearance == Groose wears an outfit similar to the Knight Attire, consisting of a tunic, baggy tights, and boots, though he lacks the traditional hat. His most striking feature is his spiky red hair, which he takes great pride in. Towering over most characters, Groose stands 20% taller than Link, who is 5'7" in Skyward Sword, making him roughly 6'8" and emphasizing his imposing presence. Broad-shouldered and heavily muscular, Groose carries himself with confidence, often flexing or showing off his strength.

== Personality == Groose is initially portrayed as arrogant and competitive, frequently teasing Link and trying to undermine him. He is often accompanied by his friends, Cawlin and Strich, and isn’t above playing pranks to get his way. However, much of his behavior stems from his jealousy over Link’s friendship with Zelda, whom he admires deeply.

Despite his tough exterior, Groose has moments of insecurity, particularly when faced with failure. Over time, he begins to show a more determined and resourceful side, proving that there’s more to him than just bravado.

== Trivia ==

  • The punching bag in Groose’s room at the Knight Academy has a crudely drawn image of Link’s face on it.
  • If the Gust Bellows is used on him, he first tries to block the wind before fixing his hair.
  • His Loftwing’s feathers resemble the shape of his signature hairstyle.
  • Groose’s theme music shares similarities with themes from other Zelda games, specifically Tetra's Pirate Crew from Wind Waker.
