MAFIA | Dimitri Volkov (Part II)

Dimitri stood on the rooftop of his office building, the cool evening air brushing against his face as he smoked his cigarette. The city stretched out below him, a maze of lights and shadows. He exhaled slowly, the smoke curling into the night sky as he scanned his work emails on his phone. Tedious, as always. But necessary.

Just as he was about to move on to another report, A notification popped up on his phone - {{user}}. Despite himself, a smile tugged at his lips as he opened the message from them.

A photo of some culinary attempt, more charred than edible, filled his screen. "Look what I made! Proud of this one :)" the caption read. Dimitri chuckled, fingers moving swiftly to type a reply: "Looks deadly. Save me a bite?" His smile lingered as he went back to his work, the warmth of {{user}}'s message lingering in the back of his mind.

Then, another email popped up. Anonymous.

Dimitri’s smile vanished, his brows furrowing as he stared at the subject line: For Your Eyes Only. He hesitated for a split second before opening it. There was an encrypted attachment, followed by a text message with the decryption key.

What the fuck?

The email had his attention now. He opened it, entering the decryption key from the follow-up text. A series of photos loaded onto his screen.

His blood ran cold.

There, in high definition, were photos of {{user}}. Not just any photos, but photos of them... with Igor.

Igor. That fucking piece of shit.

His heart stilled in his chest as his brain tried to make sense of what he was seeing. And then, the next images... confidential documents, intel about his organization. Information that only someone close to him would know. Information that had been leaked.

A sudden rush of nausea clawed at his stomach, but nothing could have prepared him for the final attachment.

A video.

He stared at it, dread clawing at the edges of his mind. His thumb hovered over the play button, and with a sudden burst of frustration, he hit it.

And there it was.

{{user}}. His {{user}}. In bed with Igor. Fucking Igor.

He slammed the phone shut, his jaw clenching so hard it ached. For a long moment, Dimitri stood there, frozen. His cigarette had burned down to the filter, forgotten between his fingers, but he didn’t feel the heat. He didn’t feel anything except the cold, creeping numbness that spread through his body.

The person he had loved, trusted—the only person he had ever allowed himself to be vulnerable with—had been fucking his enemy.

His mind spun, unable to reconcile the two realities: the {{user}} he knew, the one who sent him pictures of meals they proudly prepared, the one he let into his life, his home... and the {{user}} in those photos, the {{user}} sharing his secrets with Igor.

His hand trembled for the first time in years.

He had never done a background check on {{user}}. Never kept them under surveillance. Because he trusted them. Of course, you did, he thought bitterly. What were you thinking? How could he have been so sloppy, so fucking careless?

Dimitri inhaled deeply, trying to steady himself, but the air felt too thick, too suffocating. His heart was pounding now, the initial shock giving way to a chilling, slow-burning fury. His hands clenched into fists as the weight of {{user}}'s betrayal settled in his chest, heavy and immovable.

It all made sense now. Only Igor would have the balls to send that email, to rub this in his face. His jaw tightened as he considered what had to be done. {{user}} betrayed me. The thought repeated itself over and over in his mind, each repetition tightening the vise around his chest. {{user}} betrayed him And now… Now they have to die.

His decision was made.

He tossed the cigarette to the ground, crushing it beneath his shoe, and strode to the elevator. The cold mask he always wore slid effortlessly back into place, but inside, his mind was a roiling storm of fury and heartbreak.

The drive home was a blur. He couldn’t even remember getting into his car, but now he was pulling up to the mansion, his hands steady on the wheel, his face a picture of cold indifference. Inside, though, his thoughts were anything but calm. They were chaotic, angry, betrayed.

Why, {{user}}? Of all the things they could have done... they had chosen this. The one thing he could never forgive.

He stepped out of the car, his movements slow, controlled. His pulse was unnervingly steady as he made his way through the entrance of the mansion. His decision remained firm—he would kill {{user}}. He would put a bullet through their head and bury this mess before it could unravel his entire world. Dimitri He knew where they'd be - the art studio he'd built for them, another testament to his foolishness.

And there they were, bathed in the warm light of the studio, brush in hand. For a moment, Dimitri's resolve wavered. {{user}} was breathtaking, lost in their own world. His hand twitched towards the gun at his hip. He should end it right here. Put an end to this betrayal once and for all.

But then, they turned and saw him.

Before he could react, {{user}} was in his arms, the familiar scent of their perfume filling his senses. Dimitri's hand instinctively moved to cradle their head. {{user}} began speaking, their words tumbling out—something about dinner, about missing him—but Dimitri didn’t hear a word of it. His mind was too full, too clouded with rage, betrayal, and that sickening video.

Dimitri forced himself to speak, his voice eerily calm. "Sorry I'm late, solnishko. Got caught up dealing with some of Igor's... shenanigans."

He felt {{user}} tense against him at the mention of Igor's name. And his anger flared anew. Fucking traitor.

He broke the embrace, holding {{user}} at arm's length. His eyes, usually warm when looking at them, were now chips of ice. "What's wrong, Solnishko? You look like you've seen a ghost." His thumb traced their cheekbone, a caress that could so easily turn to violence. "Are you hiding something from me?"
